If ur curious here's more information, it exist since way back even before Mughal invasion, and it's scripture was burned by a sage name santidas gosains, and after that he influenced Vaisnava and Bengali in manipur and our Meitei language called "Meitei meyek" was lost for a while, even today many elders of the previous generation, don't know how to read Meitei meyek, before the government made it necessary to bring it back. Many of our ancient culture has been lost already, it's only those remaining that were past down from generation. Even thang ta was at brink of extinct before school added it as a subject for clz 9 students. The religious book of the sanamahis were called "Puya"

Everyone is fighting which one is older but I don't see much curiosity of wanting to know something new. In my experience most of the hindus in Manipur are not that strict nowadays. They already started participating sajibu cheiraoba on the first day of sajibu (Meitei new year) instead of waiting for the other day even though they followed Hinduism. I am Meitei I may not know a lot about my religion but all have is respect to this religion. I respect other religion and their Gods. And I am a curious person so instead of fighting over who being oldest lets learn something new from these beautiful Religions, what i learned from these Religions is that the size of our grave is similar and we died at the end of the day. Nice video though I think from my research, the oldest records of this Sanamahi religion are from the 1st Century CE whereas Hinduism has records dating back several millennia before that in BCE times! In addition, this is just one of the non-Hindu tribal religions practiced in our country, there are others such as Sarnaism practiced by the Santhals in Jharkhand as well!
Thanks for your comment! I’m well aware that the Hindu records well predate the Sanamahi, but it being a tribal faith of such extensive practices and myths, I thought it would be interesting to make a short of. I was unaware of Sarnaism, I’ll definitely look into that now.
In today's time true stories are lost somewhere and fabricated story are introduced.Originally Meitei don't follow Hinduism it was introduced during the time of Pamheiba and Sanamahism is not the oldest.Every detail of Meitei's true and original religion and spirituality and is all written in Puya( A holy book for Meitei just like the Gita ) but due to invasion of the toxic people that want Meitei to follow hinduism(Shantidas plays the crucial role in it)it's lost somewhere n Meitei's are finding it and even some parts of it is discovered. The samahi faith is an ancestor worshipping faith of the meiteis, so its a philosophy of worshiping ancestors and the father or sanmahi and pakhangba was shiva as lord shiva and Parvati literally dwelled in manipura for a short period of time but that was forgotten because of the surge of vaishnavism during the Mahabharata era and then the rise of more folklore

Sanamahism is purely animism and Sanamahism preaches it's bloodline (the seven yek salai and the indigenous tribes that followed it) against following any other religion. The forceful conversion of meeteis into hundus by the then king pamheiba in the 18th century influenced by the Hindu priest Shanti Das Gosai was predicted in sacred ancient manuscripts of the kingdom written centuries ago. It also predicted the end of hinduism in manipur. Hinduism is termed as "meetopki laining" (a religion of other race) in our manuscripts and urged meeteis to deny the religion at all costs. Every important historical event was recorded in these scriptures. And Hinduism reached Manipur only in the 18th century as there were no records of Hinduism being practiced before that. This is very informative! I have been very interested in the history of North East India, and I’ve never heard of Sanamahism before! I can clearly see the traces of Hindu Gods and Goddesses as well. The history of North East India should really be known to more people ❤❤

Everyone is fighting which one is older but I don't see much curiosity of wanting to know something new. In my experience most of the hindus in Manipur are not that strict nowadays. They already started participating sajibu cheiraoba on the first day of sajibu (Meitei new year) instead of waiting for the other day even though they followed Hinduism. I am Meitei I may not know a lot about my religion but all have is respect to this religion. I respect other religion and their Gods. And I am a curious person so instead of fighting over who being oldest lets learn something new from these beautiful Religions, what i learned from these Religions is that the size of our grave is similar and we died at the end of the day. Thank you everyone.
Nice video though I think from my research, the oldest records of this Sanamahi religion are from the 1st Century CE whereas Hinduism has records dating back several millennia before that in BCE times! In addition, this is just one of the non-Hindu tribal religions practiced in our country, there are others such as Sarnaism practiced by the Santhals in Jharkhand as well!

The samahi faith is an ancestor worshipping faith of the meiteis, so its a philosophy of worshiping ancestors and the father or sanmahi and pakhangba was shiva as lord shiva and Parvati literally dwelled in manipura for a short period of time but that was forgotten because of the surge of vaishnavism during the Mahabharata era and then the rise of more folklore

Sanamahism is purely animism and Sanamahism preaches it's bloodline (the seven yek salai and the indigenous tribes that followed it) against following any other religion. The forceful conversion of meeteis into hundus by the then king pamheiba in the 18th century influenced by the Hindu priest Shanti Das Gosai was predicted in sacred ancient manuscripts of the kingdom written centuries ago. It also predicted the end of hinduism in manipur. Hinduism is termed as "meetopki laining" (a religion of other race) in our manuscripts and urged meeteis to deny the religion at all costs. Sure enough,during this war thousands of meeteis have converted back to pure Sanamahism. So stay mad,bhakti follower

Every important historical event was recorded in these scriptures. And Hinduism reached Manipur only in the 18th century as there were no records of Hinduism being practiced before that. The modern day fusion culture of Sanamahism and Hinduism is the one that's influenced by Sanamahism. The meetei hindu followers have a sacred place for meetei gods within their threshold. They pray to meetei gods and celebrate meetei rituals so I'd say Sanamahism is the religion that deeply influenced modern day meetei hinduism
