The Velocirax looks like a better solution, holds more weight, secures easier, loads easier, and has hydraulic assist when tilting to load or unload

Holds more weight? May want to look closely at it. It's flimsy compared to the Recon. Recon Hinge never needs servicing. The release pin is "self adjusting" and if/when wear occurs, it maintains the same engagement due to the drop pin's engagement. The open loops on the Velocirax are cheap are crap. The pivot is crap. The straps are crap.
Oh...and everything on it is a rip off of the Recon Rack, which was first to market & the original designer of the Recon's customers feedback helped make all the changes to the Recon that are weaknesses on the Velocirax. Velocirax is just a cheap knock off of an intelligent design the owner didn't file patents on. Literally copied Recon's old, original basket & mounting. It's the Bezos rack.

The arm on my kuat snapped off going down a dirt road with my Levo on it. This rack looks awesome

On my north shore rack, I welded I places for set screws where ever metal slides into other metal. I can grab rack and shake whole truck without a mil of play in hitch.

Aye...I have a growing family and although I love my Thule T2, expanding it to a 4 bike holder obscures my signal lights. I might settle for the Kyber Bike rack (Vertical). I see a lot of mid SUVs with it at the mtb bike races.

Not quite up to the quality and general ease of use as the Alta or the Velocirax. But thank you for the review! I would also comment that your e-bike is far above the weight limit, but you didn't address still using the rack. Likely voids the warranty right?

might as get a small trailer if youre hauling around 6 bikes, which at todays prices = $60-100k worth of bikes

Trailers add complexity and require some skill to use, especially when backing up
