Encaustic Collage Part 1

- Come along as I create an underpainting for the Encaustic Collage piece of art. This is a mixed media collage that I finish with Encaustic. Encaustic is made of beeswax, damar resin. Often pigments are added to create colors.
I've used plaster, rusty items, fabric, water color, india inks and more as I build up these pieces of art.

I just found your channel and am so happy I did; you do really beautiful paintings. I am just starting with Encaustic Collages; and was wondering if I am able to use my oils or acrylic paints with it. Thanks!
How lovely! Collage is so much fun. There are wide and diverse opinions about using acryllic with encaustic. Generally, the two mediums are not compatible. You cannot use it on the surface. However, applied lightly or adding a mineral supplement, ( such as marble dust as 1 example) it will be ok under the encaustic. Oil paint should not be used in an under painting, but is great as a surface application when used lightly. I use it in many of my videos. It is also ok in between layers when used lightly. Hi, I love your work. Could you please tel me how do you pack your encaustic art so It deos not get harm. Also if you could SharePlay the fórmula you use to maje encaustic stable I’ll be very gratefoul to you. Hope you have a los of succes on You Tube. Your art is great
Hi, thank you so much. I'm not exactly sure what you mean. Most of my work is small. I pack it with packing materials to make sure it is secure. Using foam sometimes. I always check with collectors to make sure it's not left outside very long
Can you turn the video camera around so we can watch your process right side up? Like your paint colors.
Hi! I have tried a few placements for my camera and find it difficult to get that angle. If I come up with any other ideas, I'll give it a try though. Thank you!!
