I have a MK38 Trap with multi choke. It has lovely wood and drop points but no silver roundel on the stock dated 1995. i have had the gun for only two years or so but absolutely love the way it handles and shoots. It sits next to my B725 which I love as well and an old 1967 Spanish side by side which is great fun to shoot. I loved this vid you made on the 38 and an sure I will watch a few more of your productions. Thanks again!!!

Excellent review, straight to the point, very knowledgeable.
Have a grade 3 sporter, great all-rounder, love it.
Has a bit of cast which suits , not sure if it has been done, or came that way.

A truly great gun which is a joy to shoot and generally affordable, especially in Grade 1. When the essentials are right why would they change it?

Super interesting video. And Matt, as you know, love my MK38 and if it wasn’t for you I still wouldn’t know to this day that my particular stock (which fits like a glove) was based on the XT. Another super subtle point to mention (which I don’t think you did but could be wrong) is that the side rib length varies too which changes the weight ever so slightly. Sometimes full length, sometimes not. Found that out when trying to source new barrels.

Good to hear a bit of history of the Mk38, iv got a 32 inch grade 5 and also a 30 inch grade 6. One thing that I have noticed when watching reviews on miroku guns is that the grade 6 version is never really mentioned, is there a reason for this?

    Hello Matt,
Well I re-visited this video to enforce my decision to purchase a MK38 Grade 5 Sporter……of which I will definitely solicit your advice to help me find the right one for me!

Love my 3800 trap in 32inch, fixed choke. You have to be on it (I am sometimes!) and it will vaporise clays. On occasion I have taken second barrel kills and others on the line have been slightly taken aback at how far out they were! Back in the day sporting shooters wanted to buy it off me as it was unmolested for their own purposes. Would never sell it and it sits in my cabinet with my other antiques.

Regret selling my gr1 mk38 which your resident gunsmith(Colin?) did a fantastic job fitting a comb raiser.

Brilliantly explained I'm looking to buy a grade 5 with 32 inch barrels for sporting but prefer the trap forend and dont want multichoke so was thinking of getting a trap gun and opening up the chokes little? But now with lead being phased out maybe a sporter with a trap forend would be the better choice? great guns tho always have been. I have 2 older Mirokus and can't fault them I just fancy a 32

Soo happy with my mk38 trap I’ve sportersied.
Good to know you do trap foreends for the sporter that’s the way I will go next time.

Great review, i always thought that because Miroku were so popular they didn't have to push them selves with new models, i understand if it ant broken dont fix it, but i feel they could be so much more with different engravings options, adjustable stock models, back bore options, more advertising and merchandise available to the public.

In australia we get the mk10, which is follow on to 9000, it comes in game scene, new modern etched sporting engraving, and an adjustable version, miroku is far more popular here than browning i would hazzard a guess browning limit what miroku can do and what sales they can push in uk etc as if the mk10 was available there the 525 wouldn't sell as it's same price

You can use an adjustable comb to shoot left and right handed to a degree. This is more achievable on a Browning or a Miroku as the stocks are straight (very little to no cast)
