  • I had an amazing day exploring the Ozark National Forest in Arkansas searching for new trails and campsites for an upcoming Overland trip. I was in my 2021 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, and my friends were in a Toyota 4Runner and an 80 Series Land Cruiser.

    I started down that last trail towards the water a couple weekends ago, but I turned around after going through that first deep mud hole because I thought I heard heavy equipment further up and I wasn’t sure if there was going to be a place for my full size rig to turn around if I had to. I shoulda kept going! I’m excited for these new trails in Patreon when you get them uploaded. Hopefully I’ll get to do one of the Patreon meet ups so long as you welcome a full size truck, or if it can make it, lol. Some of those trails are tight! Not worried about paint anymore, I ripped that bandaid off my last two trips. She wears the stripes proudly!

    Love that area of the Mulberry! We were over there in the late summer and had a hard time finding a spot to camp though. Looked like locals where out at most of them, ATV’s and SxS’s were everywhere. Glad to see more footage from the Ozarks!

    Hi, looking at your video, the place where you live is really cool. I'm so jealous. The river and the water tree are so fantastic.I can't go in person, but I'm trying to heal by watching your video.I'm also trying to spread the scenery of Korea, the country of squid games, so I think your video is a lot of study for me.Thank you. I enjoyed the video.~~

    Being from the pnw, just am curious about the milkiness of the water in the creeks/rivers/ponds. Is it residual lime from the rock being erroded away?

    Some rock stacks are useful for navigating rocky paths though. I was very thankful for some in southern Utah when I did some Milky Way night photography at a particular natural arch. You don't toss those over do you?!

    Thank you for clearing up a few things with this video. I also got turned around in that same spot back in April. I’m glad you were able to figure it out. I was also unsure if you could cross the river there or not since both trails deadened at the river and didn’t seem to cross it on the map. So as long as there is a legal trail on both sides you can cross there, depth permitting of course?

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Před 2 lety +1

      I wasn't sure if you could cross there or not but there was very clear road access on both sides so it looked legit to me.

    Matt, obviously over steep hilly rock climbs you are probably in 4 Low.... I'd think. My question for you is how often do you shift into 4x4 High? Are you in 4x4 High on all water crossings? In all mud holes? Or do you switch to 4x4 low at times? .... was asking to see if you thought momentum was more important through mud or 4x4 low for traction and torque? Thanks

      @@OzarkOverlandAdventures Yup. I was just kidding around.
      I noticed the dashboard display and, as one would expect, the vehicle thinks there is something very wrong with your tires at 20 PSI. I was watching your video because I am planning a trip to the Ozark National Forest tomorrow. I hope not in too much rain.
      I plan to air-down my tires for the first time. I'm sure my truck will react the same way and tell me, "Tire Pressure Low!!!"

    I generally enjoy your channel but I think it is a little hypocritical of you to disparage someone's rock stack, as you drive your vehicle through the streams and woods.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Před 2 lety

      Thanks. Let's discuss. Why is it hypocritical to not like someone's man made artwork left in the woods while I travel on legal roads?

    • @071Tom
      @071Tom Před 2 lety

      How about the rocks stacked in circles, or as you call fire pits?, and just because it is legal doesn't mean its right, Maybe the wilderness should just be left to the wilderness?. Its just a point of view and a bit of devils advocacy, as I also overland, I see too much human destruction of the wilderness by people that enjoy our past time, to include purposefully driving through mud holes, cutting down trees for easier access, ect. We cant logically stay that driving a vehicle through a stream, creak or river causes no environmental damage for miles downstream.

    • @OzarkOverlandAdventures
      @OzarkOverlandAdventures  Před 2 lety

      @@071Tom I made no argument on environmental damage for the rock stacks. I equate them to graffiti left behind to say “I was here”. Leave places better than you find it kind of thing. There is a reason national and state parks are banning them.
      I actually try to avoid using rock circles and have my own fire pit that I take with me so I don’t have create my own.

    cairns have different meaning, some are trail markers, memorials( marking where someone lost their life), some even have religious/ spiritual meanings.... kicking them down like that is kind of ignorant without knowing why it was built regardless of your beliefs on them.
