    For a Wood Elf Unit Filler idea, a supply deer with extra arrows or bags would fit in with a big block of glade or eternal guard.

      @ChrisFrosin  Před 6 měsíci +2

      Ooooooh yes, that's a cool idea. I'm going to do a couple of full videos on some unit fillers for both Wood Elves and Tomb Kings. There's a conversation I need to have with you all about them haha

    The lord with great weapon in the picture was last produced in resin (they moved from metal with him). The Sylveneth treelord was released during 8th Ed fantasy and for treemen, the Sylvaneth hunters models work really well.

    Iv currently got this idea buzzing in my head of using wood elf rules to play a fantasy samurai army. Have a leader on a serpent dragon, oni demons as treemen and guys surfing on clouds as eagle riders, plus a thew other ideas.
    Not sure if im actually gonna go through with it, just a thought 😆

    Really looking forward to diving into the Old World. Fantasy was on it's way out when I got into the Warhammer Scene, Sad that Dark Elves and Lizardmen aren't going to be supported. So Wood Elves it is! Got some conversions ideas to incorporate new models and old models together to make a more modern Wood Elf army. Epically a new and better dragon.
    Also, for longer videos like this. Time stamps are much appreciated!

    Thanks for the in-depth look. Ironically, I built a Wanderers army at the start of AOS which has now been squatted. Since I have rebased all my Dark Elves on to rounds ( and am not rebasing them again ) , I have decided that Wood Elves are going to be my army for the Old World. Now all I need is 100 or so bases, But it makes me happy that my models will still have a gaming purpose. Thanks for the heads-up on the LotR eagle. I'm planning to make Wardancers using the Cypher Lords from Warcry with the helmets pared down, perhaps a headswap if I'm feeling adventurous. My Sisters of the Watch will probably become Waywatchers. I believe the Treelord and Kurnoth kits come with little sprites on the sprue.
    Looking forward to following your army building journey.

    If I'm correct, Wild Hunters have another +1 attack from frenzy, making them even scarier, and the Shadowdancer Killing Blow ability not only ignores saves, but kill a character even if it only inflict one wound.
    With a Shadowdancer and a Waywatcher Character you can snipe enemy characters both off combat and in combat!

    I bought a resin Dark Elf dragon earlier today, looks amazing and will work fantastic for the Wood Elf dragon. Also have the old metal one with Naesta+Arahan if I feel like changing up. The Dark Elf one is lithe, longer. Wood Elf one is a chunky boi. The Dark Elf Dragon neck fits the Wood Elf Horse lord with the old upside down U legs to sit either side of the neck. Or I can pin Naestra or Arahan on

    Also stoked to get to play my Wood Elves again v soon. I had ~5k of em, no real army list, just a huge collection, (inc Sisters of Twilight, but I seem to have lost their bows and I'm super pissed off )
    Ur excitement over this is palpable ... u found ur pace after a while, but at the start u ended up repeating or restating a few things because u seemed so excited n slightly rushed. Take ur time, we'll listen.
    Really useful readout n overview. It has changed very little since 8e WFB, w just a few subtle tweaks that I think will be for the better.

    Picked up the old Wood Elf battalion and a Sylvaneth endless spell: Vengeful Skullroot (Treeman Ancient after some tasteful modifications) which will take me up to 1000 points with magic items and upgrades. Really excited to get weird with the forest spirit unit types, using actual rocks and sticks, plastic terrain features, or funky folk horror sculpts. Similar stuff could be used for unit fillers, like some eternal guard joined by a creepy wicker guy, or a unit of glade guard where every 3 archers is a tree to make it look like they're at the edge of the woods firing out.

    Ace video, can't wait to see the warriors of chaos rules.
    Oh hey you could use Kurnoth Hunters as Treekin they should be about right and GW obviously already make a plastic Treeman

    • @ChrisFrosin
      @ChrisFrosin  Před 6 měsíci +1

      THAT'S the ones I was trying to think of and then gave up in the video haha. Kurnoth! And then obviously the treeman. Even thinking about using the spite rev's as Dryads to sort of tie them in even further. A little elven look to them.

  • @apocolototh1948
    @apocolototh1948 Před 6 měsíci +1

    I built my woodelves from boxes of dryads and gladeguard. such great boxes, the parts are very useful.
    some of the arm options for dryads cand be used for antlers or ornate bows
    Something for hawkrider conversions:
    more work less price option: tyranid gargoyles are very convertible to bats of the correct size to put gladeguard on top
    faster option: just the undead dire bats

    As someone much younger than almost all WHFB players, its quite funny to see the 6th edition glade riders that released when i was 5 described as "new" haha.

    Useful for sure, thank you 😊
    Haven't put my wood elves on the table since 2007 (and haven't painted a new one since 1993) but this might be enough to get me to haul them out of the box 😂
    GW will ruin it again soon enough with ridiculous "auto include" special characters, so might as well enjoy it while it lasts 😅

  • @Ethnarches
    @Ethnarches Před 6 měsíci +1

    Interesting how taste differs, for me any kit they bring out in FW resin I'll go and find an original on metal. :) You seem to enjoy converting a lot so resin makes sense, I'm a bit of an collector although everything I buy is going to be painted and end up in a playable army, but still I want the model as it is and metal just feels so great.

    • @ChrisFrosin
      @ChrisFrosin  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Haha, isn't it! I know how well the metal moulds translate over to the gorgeous Forgeworld Resin so I'm hopeful. Plus, like you say, I do like my converting :D It was very hard back in the day with metal hahaha. Saws and everything had to get involved hehe

  • @Ethnarches
    @Ethnarches Před 6 měsíci

    The Wood Elves seem to have very fun rules in the Old World, sounds well written. Sadly the only Wood Elf miniature ranges I like are the 4th and 3rd edition ones so I won’t be getting into them any time soon as I'm already collecting 4 other old ranges.
    Thanks for the overview!

    • @Ethnarches
      @Ethnarches Před 6 měsíci

      @@mireadur Seem quite strong, hard to say, depends on how well each other army can counter them.

    • @mireadur
      @mireadur Před 6 měsíci

      @@Ethnarches if they have to make an all comers list it might be ok, but if they tailor the arrows to the enemy list they'll be facing then theres gonna be no game. Anyway mayority of -2 armor arrows combined with some highly mobile units with poison arrows should work most of the encounters. Wild riders and wardancers seem bonkers also.

    • @Ethnarches
      @Ethnarches Před 6 měsíci

      @@mireadur Yeah definitely if you try to make the strongest list these will be hard to beat. I think it’s inherently very challenging to balance the Wood Elves with other armies due to their ranged attacks and mobility.

    • @ChrisFrosin
      @ChrisFrosin  Před 6 měsíci +1

      I am very interested to see how they translate to the table. I don't want to get pulled in to 'just shoot everything' cos there does seem to be a lot of cool little combinations :) Can't wait!
