Bond Film: #25
Synopsis:
Daniel Craig returns one last time as James Bond, starring alongside OSCAR® winner Rami Malek in No Time To Die. Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology. - Zábava
I love how Blofeld sincerely thanks Bond for wishing him a happy birthday, even though he has to know that Bond doesn’t actually care whether or not he had a happy birthday.
Brothers Bonding
I really wish Waltz had gotten more screen time in this series. His Blofeld is so damn intimidating and effective.
Wasted character
@@jakedavies6747 No. Blofeld has always been given limited screen time. FRWL, TB, YOLT. They kept it going in both SPC and NTTD. It's important to understand that. His presence was always felt throughout.
Waltz is not the slightest bit intimidating as Blofeld. Awful casting, terrible dialogue and an absolute joke of a character
@@user-mistereye You don't understand Blofeld then.
@@franciscondon1902 You have no idea how much knowledge I have on films and the entire James Bond series. If you think Waltz’s Blofeld was good then you’re part of the reason why good film-making is dying
They do a far better job at making Blofeld seem intimidating this movie than in Spectre. The film making and music before we see him here is so well done
Spectre just had some really goofy writing, felt more like a Pierce Brosnan movie than Craig's.
It translates to “The Blofeld, the!”
The German word 'die' is pronounced "dee"
@@TasarranNo one who speaks German could be an evil man.
Its a shame that very few people will understand this reference lol
@@TobyPitcairn 😂😂 👍🏻
Sideshow Bob references are always welcome!
I don't care how much recognition Christoph waltz gets, it will never be enough.
Facts. One of the best actors of this generation
For those who DON'T know
The original Blofeld that Sean Connery 007 from "You Only Live Twice" meets is where the whole trope of villains keeping their faces unseen while petting a cat comes from shown in various media.
Nope, that would be From Russia With Love 1963 :)
There’s so many instances of Benoit Blanc showing in this performance that it was so obvious that Craig was subconsciously falling into other characters to escape his personal hell as Bond 😂😂
Not to mention the fact....he was a bogus Bond, anyhow. Pure cringe.
@@lenlooksback7981 bogus bond? Casino royale was great
@@MinecraftMarket it was ok
He was the best Bond. Bro has a cringe opinion.
You must be 15 years old@@ohnogojira1937
I wish they shaved Waltz head bald and given him the full Blofeld look....
Technically Blofeld was never bald in the books
@@justinguyos5476 I know, I'm just saying that the should've given Waltz a bald head, to resemble the Donald Pleasence version of Blofeld. They had already given him the eye scar, the bald head would've completed the look.
They wanted to differentiate him from Dr. Evil
@@Makarosc”I will demand that the United Nations give me a ransom of…….one million dollars!😂😂😂
And a floof white cat
2:07 Starting from here it appears as though Daniel Craig forgot he was supposed to be playing the character of James Bond, not Benoit Blanc.
😂😂😂 So true! I can't unhear and unsee it now!
He genuinely sounds like the Benoit Blanc accent is his natural accent, and the British accent is faked.
So I'm not the only one thinking that. Was so out of character for Bond in every way, all the mannerisms. So weird the director didn't pick up on it
I had to look up "Benoit Blanc" because I had never seen or heard of Knives Out. By golly, yer rite! 😂
Maybe he was tired with playing Bond, or this script has exhausted him and he wanted to have some fun here.
Watching this first time was so dramatic i loved it. Every step he got closer with the weapon invisible on his hand was a fabulous piece of writing.
They had to wait 44 years to bring back Blofeld and when they did, they barely used him...
I love that this run of Bond films started as fairly realistic, gritty spy stuff and then by the final movie you have ridiculous, Moore-era-esque stuff like Blofeld being locked in a little glass cage on wheels. Not a criticism, I just love the evolution in tone.
No Time To Die in one scene did what Spectre couldn't: It made this version of Blofeld interesting and made Bond *ACTUALLY REACT TO HIS PRESENCE.*
Last movie he couldn't give a remote fuck that he was literally part of the man's childhood and now he actually acts like it.
Which one is You Only Live Twice?
A rather anticlimactic death, considering they decided to tie the events of these 5 films to the man
Its actually very smart.
He had whole franchise since Thunderball
@@peterlenham3180just stop.
One we needed though
@peterlenham3180 There you have it folks, this guy says it's really smart so it must be.
Blofeld called it. The secret got out and it was the death of him.
I think he rather means their daughter Mathilde as Madeleine her big secret which will change Bond as a person and thus make the killing secret agent he was for years disappear or die.
The death of Blofeld was a warning to Bond - contact Madeline and she and the baby perishes. Blofeld's contact with Bond ensured they both perish. But Bond perishes without the person he loves, like Blofeld.
This always gives me goosebumps where Blofeld is coming.😱😱😱😱😱😱😱😱
Yeah, then little Waltz arrives, all manacled, and blows the whole built-up expectation. He's no Hannibal Lecter! Now Hopkins really WAS terrifying!
Blofeld apparently had time to die.
Good question, by the way;
Film title: No Time to Die.
What happens in the film: Bond Dies.
@@alexandrealves308c hey woah spoiler alert that cmon 😅
The most underused character.
He's literally the same bad guy in every movie. There's nothing "underused" about him.
IMO the best porayal of Blofeld was in the spectre Paris meeting scene in Thunderball . We only get to see his hand and his cat. But his voice was chilling.
Thunderball, hands down best Blofeld: the icy calculation of monies Spectre has raised in different countries and that voice when the one country falls short of its target amount....
I did appreciate the nod to the novel You Only Live Twice with how Bond chokes Blofeld (strangled him to death in the book). Same with the whole garden of death later on.
I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that. I believe he even says "Die, Blofeld, die!" in the novel? I was over the moon about those two references; YOLT is my favourite James Bond novel because it gets so twisted and weird.
5:51 as out of character as it would have been, Blofeld destroying the one organization he led would have been an interesting twist though I mainly say this because, with all due respect to Rami Malek, Safin was honestly too confusing for me (wanting to eradicate millions when his pain was mainly caused by the very enemy Bond himself swore to destroy.)
@@user-vh2pb7qx6b
The footmen didn't answer to him. Also the footmen were easy to annihilate. Many were right there. You can get footmen easily.
Yea well you know as well as the rest of the world, when one of the key producers were Raimi Malek's english girl friend.. Well let's just say having him play one the 'newer' Arch nemesis to Bond was the whole plan with 'Club-Eon' right from as far back as Skyfall !
As for Blofeld's character don't know why but, the writers probably meant him to be a mere relic in the new bond series - sort of a passing by stepping stone if you will.
What's ironic is that Blofeld was alive for too long in Connerys Bond outings but dies pretty quick here
I wish they could have made this in old movies . I like how Bond chokes him in neck it's the way he can punish him for framing Madeline . Bond really loves her because he knows the truth from old enemy .
Good that Ernst Stavro Blofled told him the truth that it was him all along
As if the portrayal of Hannibal Lecter as a prisoner wasn't already overdramatic enough.
Probably my main complaint about this movie.... Blofield should have been the main villain and more screen time... An actor on waltz level needs longer than than 5 mins....

I may never waste my time watching another bond film again...
The subtle details here that shows Madeleine not wanting to shake hands or preventing herself from touching Bond was because she sprayed her right hand with the nanobots virus that's been programmed to target Blofeld. Of course Bond reaches for her right hand here 1:12 and inadvertently passed the nanobots to Bond who then grabs Blofeld around his neck with that hand 7:17 which eventually kills Blofeld shortly.
extremely not so subtle at all
@@nomarnd That's what she said.
Really... how impossibly contrived can you get?! The producers should really have dismissed this nutty conception, and said, sorry guys (to the scriptwriters), you gotta do better than that!
Nanobots? This movie has nanobots? Holy crap, apart from the woke garbage, it really has gone to complete shit.
@@themonsterunderyourbed9408the fk do you mean??? Was James Bond EVER about realism? Have you seen Die Another Day?
Be honest people, we all waited 50 plus years to see Bond actually brutally kill Blofeld like how he did in the novels
Yes. But he didn't kill him brutally.
@@mirekg5704 He absolutely did. He gave him a deadly virus after nearly choking him out.
@@UltimaKeyMaster That's not a brutal killing. Otherwise Blofield wouldn't have been able to calmly say "cookoo"

If only Lazenby could have been the one to do it.
The spirit of the old Bond movies is completly gone. Casino Royale was the last good film.
bah you know what they say, horses for courses and all that.
Prefer the masterpiece that is "SkyFall!"
you know what truly sucks? the bastard died happy.
Had Bond not touch her, Blofeld would still be alive and Bond or his girl would die.
If Blofeld didn't die maybe James Bond could be alive and retire to be with his family...
Was I the only one nervous for bonds thumb in that door???
I panicked a little at that just now 😂
Id be shaking too with the production value of thie scene you really gotta nail it
All I know is that's it's beyond criminal that Jerry Seinfeld takes an actor as brilliant as Christoph Waltz to a f@$%ing IHOP for coffee and breakfast, unbelievable.
Happy birthday BTW
Always class from 007
This scene is hilarious. It’s not like Blofeld had super powers or something 😂 The way he is locked up 😂
An example of totally wasting a great villian and a great actor.
I disagree, the mystery is amazing here, don't show too much. Just enough.
Awful villain, amazing actor. James Bond was trash after Skyfall
@@Mrz-bq2yb Personal opinion doesn't make it true.
@@Sinister727 if you think Blowfeld was a well written villain in Spectre then you don't understand story telling
@@Mrz-bq2yb I've seen a few clips of this film and they seem fine, which has me thinking the film itself might be worth watching. Spectre was a spectacular waste of time, I don't remember ever seeing a more boring and pretentious Bond film.
Blofield did in fact have time to die
They did Blofeld dirty in this series.
Why in the world do they let one of the most dangerous criminals in the world talk without plexiglass when you can't even do this at the local county jail? Rather convenient for the plot.
7:30
Bond: "Tanner, don't lecture me!"
Tanner: **Proceeds to lecture Bond**
I bought No Time To Die on DVD yesterday for 50C at my local Opportunity Shop.
Blofeld died smiling. No sociopath deserves that.
Now that I've watched Glass Onion, James Bond really became Benoui Blach for this joke of a movie..
When I watch this scene, you can see a little bit of Benoit Blanc tbh
God the dialogue in this film is so weird, Bond is so out of character compared to the previous films
I rly liked waltz blofeld, unpopular opinion no time to die should have been an all out blofeld villain movie, since we got so little of him in spectre
I rly would have like to see spectre as and introduction movie
And no time to die as the grand finale with blofeld as main villain
Yup that would have been much better than an indian scam call centre villain. Jk lol
*had this film on loop, it was playing when I woke up, not the first time I've looped it all night*
This is so Hannibal Lecter insane.
My honest opinion? Most anticlimactic death in cinema history. The dude was literally Bond's arch nemesis, and he just dies from the DNA bioweapon. Like I know this fits the story and Safin's plan but I was kinda maybe hoping for some dramatic final battle of the champions. Eh, maybe it doesn't always have to be dramatic.
Many war criminals died at least as happy. So what. That's just how it is...
Yep!
*What a waste of such a great actor, Javier Bardeem was well used, Skyfall was such a great movie.*
Absolutely! 100%!
Skyfall was the 2nd worst craig movie right after quantum of solace.
Skyfall = too much talk, no action and no story. Skyfall story summary = Silva kills M and dies.
One of the most boring portrayals of a Bond villain by one of the best actors working (this film and Spectre.)
This movie would've been far more satisfying if Blofeld's death was fake and an excuse for him to escape from prison and team up with Safin at the end for them both to go against Bond.
Why would he team up with Safin? Hes the one who wants Blofeld dead.
@@peterlenham3180 ever heard of this thing called the red herring? You give the audience a false information to shift their focus. You can write it that Safin motive was fake, a distraction for Bond, so that he could get Blofeld out of prison because they're actually partners in crime or something. Much more interesting than that forced relationship between Safin and Blue Is The Warmest Colour lady.
That poor agent , She was Shaking so bad !!!
the ending sound is scary 😢
Blofeld and Spectre will return
They were too big too fall
Like Palpatine and The Empire but they better make that comeback better than star wars
Sigh. Casino Royale is so wonderful. This movie was such a chore. A shame it ended this way.
Nah. This is a good movie
Disagree, Casino Royale was the best yeah tough.
@@mozes88 Uh, what?
This was my least favorite Craig movie I fell asleep during it and have no desire to see it again.
@@ColonelCarnage You're the problem,then. Not the movie.
7:15 JAMES WHAT ARE YOU DOING💀
There's ALWAYS time for another in the franchise (similar to Rocky CVXIII) but it's a good bunch of actioners. My Dad installed Sean Connery's phone in Chiswick about 1961, chatted and gave Sean's daughter a ride back to the GPO Depot for some extra stuff he needed.
Blofield dies at the hands of his “brother” fitting
He (Christoph) doesn't give you the chills in James Bond (and all other movies) like he once did in the opening scene of Inglourious Basterds !
Let's just say, that when you make friends with the likes of Blofeldt, you get exactly what you deserve.
My poor little CooCoo!
I feel that making him BLOFELD was weak! They honestly should have just left him as Franz Oberhauser....
This scene is super underrated!!!
So understated, it's utterly forgettable!
Who’s gonna snatch the next James Bond role that’s on par with Pierce and Craig? Hard to top Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace.
I still say Craig comes back for one more.
@@dickriggles942That's a dumb idea
@@jesseowenvillamor6348Let's see, let's abandon the guy who is a box office draw for an unknown...
Yeah, you're REAL brilliant!!!
@@dickriggles942Daniel Craig won’t be back for one more. Incredibly naive
@@JD-lz2uq Every movie he makes is a box office success. In Hollywood, they always prefer the guy who makes hits over an unknown.
Therefore, it shouldn't be a question of whether there's a chance he could come back. Given that they haven't announced a new Bond yet, my money is betting they are still trying to get Craig to come back for one more. The window is probably closing very soon though.
And before you claim "HE DIED ON SCREEN HE CAN'T COME BACK!", the island was bombed. There was no definitive scene in a hospital where he officially died and the body was recovered. The first time Bond disappeared, he fell from train tracks into the water and survived. Not implausible he could have been blown into the water there too and ended up on an abandoned island or rescued by natives. There's a reason the death was vague. They always do that.
0:27 need to put it on batman matt reeves version, when arkham officer bringing joker to batman
This movie is a crime
Is the last film with Daniel Craig as Bond?
Yep! Not the best sign-off - and not his fault!
Some interrogation, but in the end, it paid off.
I simply can't see SEan Connery being able to do this scene
How is it that we had Orwell writing prophetic books luke 198 4 and the James Bond author was right on the money with predicting these sorts of elites running the world today and we are totally powerless to act as are most governments?
Bond should have just said "well you go rot" or something, booped Blofeld with a finger as he's leaving and then the rest follows out. Utterly out of character to see him pathetically choke him for a second.
wew
Natural born villain
Not sure but I think it was still Sean Connery when Blofeld appeared in the very first Bond film or whatever film he first appeared if not Dr No.
Yep your right in You only live twice
@@David1988MufcNo. Blofeld first appeared in From Russia with Love.
@mirekg5704 I think he was referring to when we actually see the characters face not just his body that's why I said you only live twice

Austin Powers talking to Dr Evil
James Bond's biggest mistake was not killing Blofeld at the end of Spectre. It would have saved him all the trouble of this mistake of a movie, and his life as well.
Whatever character Craig was playing after the two minute mark it sure as shit wasn't Bond.
You trippin? It couldn't be *more* Bond.
It's weird to see Bond give the gloating speech to a defeated enemy. Seems hollow, like he's pretending. He's on the backfoot and knows he looks vulnerable
Right. And to a point he was acting out of character.
Yes! it's years later but that's why the whole film felt *off* for me, Bond was, for the first time in my memory: *petty* Blofeld's quick 'thank you' after the sarky 'happy birthday' shows how centered Waltz's core is as an actor. Craig seemed fidgety, like a man already thinking about other films.
It’s a metaphor for the true story of my life.
And yes… I’m James Bond. It’s not as fun as it sounds, but it fits
"die"
"well if you say so"
It always bothered me that the glass goes down slightly crooked 😂
You ❤
What happened to him at the end?
he died from a virus that Bond unknowingly had on himself. The girl in the beginning transferred it to Bond by accident with human contact. She was ordered to kill Blofeld herself. Once making contact with the target (Blofeld), the target dies.
When he said: die Blofeld, die. I never experienced more cringe than that….
Die! Franchise! DIE!!
did someone say MONOLITH?
This movie felt like a total waste of Christopher Waltz.
This French actress is really good a real more complex character fit for bond to be with him . I think they even have a kid together hmmm
I like how the chose to make Blofeld seem intimidating in this movie, a nice change from in Spectre when they made him seem like a putz.
No, he's not remotely intimidating! That's this scene's (and Waltz's miscasting's) problem!
To let Blofeld die off-screen. One of the many mistakes the movie made...
Still better writing than the quantum of solace! 😂
How did he die off screen lol we literally saw his death in this scene
@@SuperfanK No, we saw him dead. What a unworthy farewell to Bonds Nemesis. And yet, not the worst directed death in this movie.
