- He never liked the place anyway… today’s clip is the destruction of Bond’s ancestral home in SKYFALL (2012). Special effects supervisor Chris Corbould said: “We built a third scale model of the house and two-third-scale models of the helicopter.”
The scene was devised with two explosions. A small explosion that creates debris which knocks the helicopter off course and sends it careening into the house. The fuel tanks then ignite, causing a massive second explosion. “We used 150 stacks of dynamite and a couple of hundred gallons of fuel for that one,” said Corbould proudly. - Krátké a kreslené filmy

That scene is the definition of “Shit just got real”.
You take one of the most influential and historic Aston Martins made especially from the films and destroy it. That is like taking the life of one of your best friends. The Aston Martin in my honest opinion is made with absolute soul and passion. It's a shame though that some of the newest model aren't liked by others. ❤️
I love how every Bond film up to this point had Bond destroying the villain’s lair but what makes Skyfall so special is that this time, the villain comes to destroy Bond’s “lair”, his home.
Silva’s lair is also entirely intact, the only damage that would have been done was a couple bullet marks on some walls
And his most beloved object of all, his car.
don't forget Silva destroyed MI6 hq at the start too, so both his current home and his childhood one.

The way he walks in the spotlight of the helicopter, the long hair, the voice, the dainty way he throws grenades, even his face screams "bond villian" lmao

Honestly, he strikes me more of an anime villain. When I think of Bond villains I typically think of older, fatter men with schemes of nefarious schemes.
Silva is just this oddly smug rage.

I applaud the realism, in particular, Bond is actually checking the weapons for ammunition count

And yet, in the first part of the scene, when he starts shooting at the incoming helicopter from the window he doesn't even come close to actually aiming down the sights, he just hipfires at the far away vehicle achieving nothing and just giving his position away. Which in this otherwise stellar film is a very avoidable and annoying oversight.

Skyfall: Bond can't hit a chopper from 100 yards with an automatic rifle.
Spectre: Bond shoots down a chopper from 500 yards with a small pistol, whilst standing on a moving speedboat.
Spectre was an extreme disappointment in so many ways.

Love the idea that the guys inside the likely bulletproof helicopter were killed but the “big bad” somehow didn’t have a scratch on him. He was literally right next to the house when it blew up.
I love the look on Bond's face when his DB5 gets blown up. He's thinking "Destroy my car? Now you've crossed the line!"
This movie was the improvement to the series. I hope No Time to Die does the same.

@@tallleprechaun1318 Well, it looks like the door isn't visible behind him, so he must have turned not long after starting into the tunnel. I guess it was more so something that he did just because he didn't have time or didn't really care at that point. I suppose the entire thing burned anyway.

Phenomenal movie and definitely my favorite climax in the entire franchise.
Love this movie. So sad Judi Dench’s M had to die. On of my faves.
She was fantastic, a cornerstone of 007 movies for me.
That's actually one issue I have with Skyfall. In this sense Silva actually won.
That also means silva avenges elektra and renards deaths.
@@pjosepha - This isn't in the same continuity as the Connery-Brosnan series. Different origin, different stories. Dench's M is not the same character as the one from the previous continuity.

Craig's tenure as Bond has been a bit inconsistent, but his odd numbered films are still among the best of the franchise. I hope No Time to Die makes Craig the first Bond who ends his tenure in a good way.
Craig Bond was the so much more darker and more violent and is more like the Bond in the novel. Craig really did brought the fear back into to James Bond which makes him my favourite James Bond.
And No Time to Die was fantastic. The pattern is fufilled.

I saw this film on release day in theaters. I had never seen another bond film before, yet I got the idea that the car held great importance and was an Easter egg tribute to previous films. That and it just looked beautiful. 6:20 literally everyone in the theater either gasped, screamed, or said some variation "whelp this Bond villain just signed his death warrent". 6:25 everyone started cheering and shouting "Avenge Aston"
It is good movie. We are waiting "No time to die", I hope same quality like this film..
This movie is already perfect but just imagine if the caretaker was played by Sean Connery like originally intended. It would have been out of control.

Albert Finney did a very good job.
It might have been a bit too distracting I think, so I’m glad they went with Albert Finney, but in concept it’s such a wonderful tribute to the series, and seeing Connery able to play a different character in the same series would have been really interesting.

Bond movies take their time. The storylines always like to challenge your mind. The swarve and sophistication of Bond is on another level. The fights are usually good. The picture quality good. The whole thing just great.
I love bond movies.
Bond before Craig was no more than pure entertainment and time pass. Craig movies gave the character more depth and sort of tried to connect with the audience more.

I found out a few years back that they filmed this not in the Scottish Highlands, but in Surrey in a place called Hankley Common. They built the frontage of the house in a natural valley on the common..and then blew it to pieces.
if this was the last ever Bond film, it would have been a magnificent send off.

The Bond movies with Danial Craig are masterpieces. None of the "win the girl" misogyny. Silva in Skyfall is a truly complex villain, who may be justified against MI6. No gadgets to be seen. Wonderful to watch. The Bond manor house is a prop, but how wonderful it appears. Top marks for the crew.
I dont generally go to theaters, but when they tear up his car, that music played (i was at the theater) what a rush! Really well done.

Here's some trivia : at the beginning of this scene, the second mercenary who entered 007's home, is played by Michael Pink - until Javier Bardem came along, he was cast as the main antagonist.
However he remains in the movie despite not being in a major role : nonetheless the climax is a fantastic one, Barbara Broccoli and Michael Wilson certainly deserve credit for assigning Sam Mendes in directing the episode that celebrated the 50th Anniversary since the cinema release of Dr No.
The composure by Bond under attack is epic! He protects the elders. Defense compound is destroyed.

Alternative solution - when the helicopter approaches, drive off in the DB5 as a decoy while M and the gamekeeper go to the chapel.
When the helicopter is directly above the DB5, fire the ejector seat to bring it down.

Was never into bond that much before this movie, but I remember being 12 years old and everyone saying nothing but good things about this film so my mum took me to see it, walked out the cinema and was lost for words, been a fan of 007 since!!!

It’s a tragedy they stopped making bond games before this film, it had so many set pieces that remind me of great maps from Goldeneye for the n64 or Nightfire - Skyfall could be a map with loads of traps players could spring on each other, there’s the London Underground with the train crash as set dressing, the Macau Casino, Silvia’s Island, the list is stellar!
