- A thorough expert-guided tour of the Bristol Channel's famous island of Lundy, with particular emphasis on the birds, animals, wildlife, and scenery of the island, showing why it is worth visiting and what to look out for. From the viewpoint of a traveller on MS Oldenburg, Lundy's supply ship, starting from Bideford and returning to Ilfracombe. Includes rock-pooling, visit to the village and farm, interesting features of the South end, a walk to the North Light, exploration of the contrasting East and West coasts, including the free-running herd of Lundy ponies, Highland cattle, Atlantic Grey Seals and pups, breeding seabirds, including Puffins, Manx Shearwater, Kittiwakes (all at risk species), Fulmars, Guillemots, Razorbills, and feral Sika deer, goats, and Soay sheep, seasonal changes, including Spring flowers and Autumn storms and the Autumn bird migration. Created from extensive filming over a five year period.
Wonderful. This is now the gold standard of Lundy documentaries.
Such a fabulous comment! You can imagine how happy I am with that. Thank you, Ashley!
Wow, how has this only got 8 thousand views? Fantastic video. Great narration. Learned so much and now interested in staying in one of the accommodation
What a fabulous comment! Thank you! I do hope that you have good weather and a fabulous experience when you do get there.
I loved this video. I am a woman who is blind and your detailed verbal descriptions made it very vivid for me. I also loved the quality of the sounds.
How very wonderful! Thank you so much! I'm thrilled.
Excellent work and truly a Joy to watch. Thank you 👍❤
So pleased that you enjoyed it. Thank you for your kind comments.
Congratulations on a fabulous piece of videography. A professional and highly enjoyable piece. Keep doing what you are doing. You have taken me to a place that I would never in reality be able to visit as I am a wheelchair user. I had no idea there was so much animal and bird life on the island. A joy to watch. Thank you.
Thank you for your wonderful comment. I'm thrilled that I was able to introduce you to this fascinating little island, and appreciate your kindness in telling me.
Love Lundy island I stayed there in the 80s thanks sir for your video excellent
Thank you for your kind comment, Leslie.

Thank you, Jackie!
lots of birds and wildlife on the island
An absolute delight to watch. Although I've lived in N Devon for nearly 30 years I've yet to make the trip - I really must do that! Thank you so much!
So good to hear, Colin. Thank you!
What a wonderful video! The island of Lundy popped up on my CZcams yesterday. I'd never heard of it before. Sometimes I have trouble understanding Brit speak but this narrator did a great job! The variety of wildlife is amazing on such a small piece of land. Thank you!
Fascinating & beautiful proxy experience
Thank you for your lovely comment.
This is absolutely lovely. We plan to go to Lundy soon and this was an education and a delight. It was really helpful in laying out expectations on walking, timings and what to look out for. Thank you.
Great news, Claire! I'm so glad you found it helpful and enjoyable. Let's hope it proves its worth when you do go!
Thank you for this wonderful & informative video. I am visiting Lundy for the 1st time in June staying for 4 nights & your video has already answered many questions & given me lots of very useful information on what to look out for & enjoy. Thank you.
Thank you very much, Jennifer. That's so good to hear! I hope you have kind weather and a fabulous stay.

Thank you!
What a great video, thanks for making this. I sail out to Lundy a lot in my little sailing boat which you passed at 0:56. Lundy is a magical place.
That's fabulous to hear, Simon; and what a wonderful way to get there! I'll take a look. Thank you.
Well done Rob. Looks like a labour of love.
Excellent !
Awesome awesome awesome. No other words 😍❤️😍
Wow! Thank so much! 🥰
Fantastic video Rob, thankyou for the in-depth narration and beautiful videography, very inspiring. I am planning a short stay on Lundy with my son so this was really helpful.
So encouraged by your kind comment, Jesper. Thank you. I hope you have good weather and a fabulous stay on Lunydy.
Excellent video bro. I have been to Lundy, but only for one afternoon. So I didn't get to soak in this beautiful place. I recommend that people go there just to escape the rat race for a while. It's just got the right mix of everything, without feeling too isolated.
Thank you very much. Yes, it's a wonderful place to escape from the rat race, whether for several days or just a few hours.
I really enjoyed this film… I’m heading to Lundy in the morning and this was the perfect preparation. Really focused on what an ordinary visitor might see and experience on the island, and allows the landscape and wildlife to take centre stage whilst providing helpful commentary. Could also be good for remembering and reflecting on Lundy after a trip, or just dipping into the world of it even with no plan to go there. Clearly a labour of love for this place. Thank you!
Thank you for your lovely comment, Emily! so glad that you feel that the film has accomplished its aims. I hope you have a fabulous day.
Excellent video , Lundy has been on my list for ages but would only be interested in going for at least 3 days , I've looked in to the day trip before but I seem to recall it only gives you about 5 hours to explore and will make you keep checking the time in my opinion , I'd rather be there at a more leisurely pace
Thank you!
Yes, if you travel to and from Ilfracombe, you only get 3 1/2 hours on the island; but from Bideford around double that.
So you can see a fair bit on a Bideford sailing; but staying over is far better.
Unfortunately, apart from camping, which is usually available, most accommodation is so popular that you need to book many months ahead!
I follow the Landmark Trust on Facebook and they seem to regularly advertise cancellations for their properties for some reason , I'm not sure my kids are old enough to appreciate Lundy at the mo but I will get there. I've subscribed too and will watch the other couple of videos soon and look forward to more, I forwarded the video to my Mum and Dad too who also said how good it was .
All the best
@@plodonsteady4712 Brilliant. Thank you!
The seals on the rocks; my parents are watching…
eciting stuff, anymore islands soon>??
Thanks. Hadn't thought about that. Just that I'm in love with this one.
