Somebody with a screw driver can be in your backyard with hardly any effort at all since you put the striker on the outside instead of inside and in addition the striker was screwed into your fence boards with no 2x4 behind to support it so with a few slams and that will have to be redone.

What happens if the gate closes behind you? How do you get back through if the latch is then on the other side 🤔?

One idea is to put the latch at the top of the fence and you can reach over the top. Or drill a hole and put a string through it.
