- A SUPER BLAST TO THE PAST W S&H GREEN/BLUE CHIP STAMPS! Looking thru the catalogs from the 1960s!
When I was a young girl, my family collected S&H Green Stamps as well as Blue Chip Stamps whenever we shopped. We couldn't wait to fill up the books and redeem them for cool things from the catalogs!
Take a look at this blast to the past with me, showing you what was available for us to dream about getting!
Hugs from me to you!
Very warmly,
Jeannie

My mom collected enough stamps to buy each of her eight children a set of that Oneida flatware. We each got a set at our weddings. I remember her keeping the stamps in the drawer by the telephone. Thank you for this video
Wow! That’s a lot of stamps collecting and dedication! Awesome!
That was so sweet of your mum ❤
My mom has Alzheimer’s and is now on hospice. I feel sadness constantly and your videos bring me calm and a peaceful distraction. I thank you from my heart for that.❤
Aw, Stacey…sending you a big hug. Life’s transition aren’t easy, I know. Thinking of you.
I am so sorry ❤😢

Thanks to everyone for all the lovely support on my comment on the last video. I am working and really making a lot of good progress. This is such a wonderful community ❤
Keep it up, luv!! You DO have this!! ♥️♥️♥️
My Grandmother collected the Green Stamps. She still had a bag full of stamps and the booklet in her things we found after she passed away. This video makes me think of her ❤😊❤
I’m so glad! ♥️
My S & H Story. We were in the redemption center and I saw a tin TOY rollercoaster . I wanted it BADLY . It was very large and even tho this happened to me in the early 1970s, this roller coaster looked like it was from the 1950s . It was VERY colorful and pictured kids w/ cotton candy and had that "old theme park" motif ! (THINK: the graphics from the 1962 board game Candy Land by Milton Bradley !!) So my mother was all "No you can't have that - it has very sharp edges and some kids CUT themselves on it!". Now mind you ; I was no a deprived kid or anything like that and I did want this toy on a whim. So we left and I had totally forgotten about it. Fast Forward about 40 years . I am now an adult TOY COLLECTOR in the 1990s (!) an I see this (now VINTAGE) toy for sale -- about $50.00 (it's actually a commonly saved and heirloomed toy-- not rare by any means) . So I bought it and - when I got it home and set it up- oh my -- it DID have some VERY sharp edges !! These were "Made in Japan". And this was when "toy safety" was just starting to come about . LOL. So mom was right! But it looks so so nice and happy . You can see what these look like if you do a GOOGLE search "vintage tin toy roller coaster j. Chein ". There are several versions but look for the one that has that "Candy Land" look !
Love this story!!!
...the funny things is, that things made in Japan TODAY are very high end and good quality (mostly). In those days Japan was filling the niche that is filled by Mexico, Bangladesh and Eastern Europe today!
I looked it up (90’s baby here) and that looks kinda dangerous lol!!
Oh that looks so cool I would definitely want one! They have DIY metal miniatures figurines now and those are sharp too and so tiny! Tried it once with my family on a model of Hogwarts had about a dozen cuts, so they essentially still make this stuff!
Has anyone ever told you how much you look like Princess Diana? You're so beautiful!!!❤❤❤
Thank you so much! That is very kind!
Nothing more relaxing than watching someone show and tell about old magazines and catalogs from the 60s. Love this type of content, keep it up!
Glad you enjoyed it!!
My mom got my 1st baseball glove thru the S&H Green Stamps in 1974. It was actually a really good glove. Had it until high school.
Oh my gosh! I have so many fond memories of filling those stamp books and going to our local S&H store to redeem them! 😀😍
This is actually a very educating, rare to find broadcast - presented by a very lovely, cozyness spreading, carefully testimonies of time collecting, great interest sharing, always well groomed, comforting, vivid, ageless and exemplary lady Many thanks for being you and for the great work you do, from Germany!🤗
Glad you enjoyed it! And hello to you in Germany 🇩🇪!!!
This is so much better than modern rewards programs! I was born in 1978 and remember my grandmama having these stamps when I was very young. I had no idea what they were for until now. No wonder she got so cross with me when I wanted to play with them and stick them everywhere. 😊
This is so interesting. In South Africa some shops still do this for things like pot and pan sets as a prize. The satisfaction of getting enough stickers is addictive. I would go gaga for a whole book of stamps, I think it deserves a comeback😊
Yes, they do that here in Serbia and I'm addicted 😅 I, too, like one of the old ladies people described here, keep my loyalty stamps in a drawer near the door, and love the feeling of sticking them in that booklet.
I got good quality wine glasses, classy beach towels, Pyrex oven ware, and some Swiss backpacking equipment.
I'm loving it.
Omg the origins of Macys star money/kohls cash😭😭❤❤
Thanks for trip down memory lane. My job as a kid back in the 60' was filling the booklets. I can't recall if they were S&H or Blue Chip. The redemption center was big with U shape counter staffed by around 30 plus young women. That was back in the day when business use to employ lots of people. Like supermarkets use to have 8/10 checkouts each with a bagboy.
The 60s were a great time to be a kid. Thanks for the memories!
I agree! 🥰
I just love your diction and your voice. I would listen to any video even if I didn’t like the subject -just to hear you speak!! And I LOVE your humor. That is something rare among most ASMR artists. Great humor!!!
It just occurred to me that perhaps you might be able to locate some vintage Avon catalogs that you could look through with us? I was in Avon lady back in the mid-70s when I was a newlywed. I never saved any of the cute little catalogs, but I would sure love to look at them again!!
Omg - I just videoed a retro Avon catalog video today!!😊 It will be out in a few days.
Thank you so much!
Love your videos, especially with catalogs and magazines! It feels like time traveling ❤
It does! I agree!
After seeing those cribs and walkers Im starting to see the 60's kids with another eyes..they are survivors 😂😂
Hahaha!! SO true!!! Those things were death traps! 😁
Green stamps! Awesome!! Takes me back to my childhood.
Your videos give me so much nostalgia for times I didn’t even grow up in. Love learning about other eras to inspire and inform the future.
That's awesome!
I'm from England, I remember my mum collecting Green shield stamps or pink shield ones,a blast from the past Jeannie 😁
That’s awesome! Thanks for letting me know!!
I spent HOURS combing through the green stamps redemption look-books!! What a blast from the past!!!
PS: I've thought of your recent adventures a few times over the last couple of days - hope all is well and going smoothly, at least as much as can be expected!
We loved those look-books! Oh, the big dreams we had!
You are one of my favourite ASMR artists! I particularly love your old magazine and catalogue themes...not only are they comforting blasts from the past, but I get the very same vibe from watching your videos as I did looking through the Sears catalogue with my grandmother long before I understood what ASMR even was. Thank you for sharing your work ❤
More catalogs coming soon! 🥰
I almost got tears in my eyes from excitement when i saw that you uploaded a new video. I absolutely adore these videos ❤️
I'm so glad! Thank you!!
Our area had S&H Green Stamps and Top Value Stamps, which were yellow. I had a stuffed elephant called Topper from Top Value. I love your relaxing and nostalgic videos…I’m close to your age, I think, so they’re very relatable.
Lovely video. Here in the UK we had Tesco's Green Shield Stamps. Used to love browsing through the catalogues. Happy days. 🤗
I love you Jeannie, you're incredibly comforting. I always have a smile when I see a new video ❤️
Thank you so much!
This is some literal history here. I wouldn't know too much about the whole stamp thing but it's interesting to see how it was used as a loyalty type program. Obviously, it's grown and changed substantially since then but it's always nice to see the origins of such ideas.
It was definitely a simpler time back then. This was pretty cool for us. 😁
I really enjoyed this video. I have a china set that I inherited from my grandmother that she purchased through green stamps. It took several years for her to complete the set. It’s a lovely set, and a nice way to remember her.😊
That is awesome! I think for many people, it did take a long time to save up the books. Especially if you were a frugal shopper. I'm so glad you have that set! What a great way to remember your grandma!
We lived in Brooklyn in the early 1960’s. My mom collected Plaid stamps. PS, Your description of the Swanson dinners was spot on!
Haha! Terrible but wonderful!! 😁
Genie you look stunning! Video was definitely the highlight of my day ❤️
I'm so glad! And thank you!
I love listening to you go through these older magazines and such. Such a soothing voice. You easily put me to sleep! Thank you!
You are so welcome!
@JeannieBASMR I'm a regular Maria watcher, too. And you remind me so much of her. Same soft, easy voice, similar facial expressions, and you're both just gorgeous! 🤩 You're Maria from the future! 💫
@@shawnacaseAw, that’s so sweet! Love our girl @gentlewhisperingasmr !!
All my life I have wondered what on earth these were. Now I know
I’m so glad the secret has been revealed! Lol!
I totally agree with you about the bath towels!
Wow. Step into my Time Machine. These are really cool.
One of my earliest memories was me watching my mom and her friend Maxine, exercise in their leotard’s. Maxine had a butt shaker. I thought it was hilarious when they used that thing. I never understood how it was suppose to burn fat. My mom got one and I used it when i was a little older. All it did was make my cheeks itchy from all the blood rushing to the area. 😂
Thanks for posting this. Brings back a lot of good memories.
Yes - those butt shakers!!! Lol! My aunt had one and I wondered the same thing...how does that help? Great memory!!
My mom loved the avocado green and dark browns for her kitchen and kitchen accessories. I didn’t like it as a child 🙃. As popular as it was, I only recall my mom having the green kitchen while most other moms I remember had either the sunny yellow, pale peach or rust and white
I almost fell off the couch laughing when you referenced Children of the Corn. “Her eyes are creepy.” 🤣 You’re the best, Momma J 💛
😁. Haha! Thank you, luv! 🤣
i really like these vintage catalog reviews, and you review them so well! i think you've found your niche!
Glad you like them!
I finally found the time to watch your video and boy do I enjoy that video. I watched it with my mom and we were so relaxed after such a long time so thank you 😊
That is awesome! Thanks for this, Sany! Say hi to your mom!
In Australia we had a stamp system in the 70s early 80s where my mother would collect supermarket stamps Coles/ Woolworths for dinnerware.
So everyone ( you would see them relatives friends homes 😅) had these very retro brown orange and yellow floral plates. You can find them in discount op shops now.
That’s so cool! 😁
THANK YOU!!! LOVE the Color of the backdrop! Cool Blast from the Past!😎 & Tingles! 🎇🎇🎆🎆💤💤💤💤🌙 💚💙
Glad you liked it!! Thank you so much!!
Love these Flicking through magazines . Jeannie is my favourite.
I remember that! Thanks for that memory!
I remember those! Born in 1962 in San Francisco. Thank you for sharing this! Great memories...
Dare I say, you remind me of a very young (1980s era) Linda Evans! You are stunning and you make absolutely fabulous ASMR videos. Thank you and can't wait to see more!
Or should I say to be more respectful, 1980s Linda Evans reminds me of you 😁
You are so sweet!! 🥰
Oo, ooo! One more, a young Jaclyn Smith (Charlie's Angels). She even has a similar voice. Fabulous 😊
I totally agree with u re the towels...I've never heard anyone else say that !! They need to be thin & thirsty !! Especially for putting around long wet hair !! Lol 😂 Also, my sisters & I got my mom a nice 4-slot toaster for Mother's Day with (I think) the S&H green stamps 💚
Exactly!! Those big, fat, fluffy velour towels are not good for hair or drying bodies! Just for looks on a towel rack!
Thx! You're fantastic
I remember being with my mother in Santa Monica in the 70s There was a store you can turn the stamps in for. I wanna say the store was Nu berries but can't recall.
I'm only 47 but I remember the s&h books and stamps right before they faded out...as a kid in the late 70s early 80s... wonderful commentary❤
That's cool that you have those memories! It was a fun thing, for sure! And thank you for your kind words!
Oh my gosh I remember doing greenstamps with my mom and going to that store to redeem them! Thank you for helping me be able to rest with my pain flare up. 🥰🙏
You are so welcome! Thank you for sharing this with me.

Thank's for gourgeus ASMR!
Over here in England I remember collecting Green Shield stamps with my mum and gran, I always received a nice toy for my birthday or Christmas.. Really enjoy your video's, also you have an amazing voice for telling stories:)
So cool!
Nice! We collected Greenbax stamps at Piggly Wiggly!
I remember my mom collecting these when I was a little girl. At the time, I didn’t know what they were, but she always let me stick them on the book. I also remember the “Brady Bunch” episode about them too.😊
Right on! Fly that flag high!
Cuz I’m a weirdo.
i loved this thanks for sharing!
We had S&H green stamps. My mom would give each of us girls our own book. She & my grandmothers on both sides would use them as payment for chores and to reward good behavior. I got a record player and my sister got a bike. It taught us a lot about economics!!!😅 I truly enjoyed that trip down memory lane! Thanks!
Wow! How wonderful that you remember what you got! I seem to have forgotten. Lol! But what a great memory these stamps were!
my made made me organize her mark-10 cigerette stamps..you could redeem prizes by sending away coupons from the cig pack...not sure it was a good deal
*my mom
My husband and I would purchase the green stamps for our gas station as an incentive to do business. They were a huge hit, but when they were ending the program, he brought home a huge box full of them and I had to put them in books so we could redeem them. I can't remember what we got, but I think we got kitchen wares, tools he wanted, some dishes, pots and pans, etc. We had tons!!!!!
That’s such a cool story!! Thank you for sharing!
I ABSOLUTELY remember S&H Stamps because I felt like such a big girl when my Mom let me lick the stamps! I remember going into the S&H redemption store too. What great blast from the past! Thank you!!!
Aw, what a great memory! Thank you for sharing this with me!!
oh...this was AMAZING... soooo many tingles.....thank you! the tapping, the whispering, and the page turning...sigh..
Glad you liked it!! Thank you for your awesome feedback!
I grew up in Northern Virginia in the early sixties. We had S&H as well as King Korn stamps. The good old days😊
Exactly! The good ol says!! Thank you for sharing this!
I love these videos
Great Video Jeannie! ❤️
Oh thank goodness! Need my fix!
Jeannie i think you should make a video about how you take care of yourself inside and out. You look so fresh and your energy is just awesome❤❤❤
My mum got the stamps from the co op little blue stickers like stamps blue in colour one full book amounted to one pound ( one dollar) we often played post offices with her book ) this was the late 70s 80s ..
We collected sooo many S&H greens stamps... a drawer full. But, we had two grocery stores, Grand Union and A&P who had their own kind of "loyalty" program where you could buy things really cheap if you bought a certain dollar amount. We bought the entire Encyclopedia Britannica set (think of Google in a hardbound book) .99 cents per book, one book at a time...whew it took forever and was our family's best treasures...We used those books for all of our book report research.... lol.....
We had that set (or some sort of it) as well. It’s all any kid had for research. They were great. Wish I still had them…
32:25 I want to LIVE in this kitchen !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So much fun! I can’t remember buying anything specific but I can still taste those stamps watching this!
Happy to see you again I just had a little mental breakdown and your videos help me a lot to come down.
I’m so glad they help, luv!
I love this video
I don’t think we had them in Canada but I do remember the Brady Bunch had an episode about them
When I was a little girl, on Saturday morning, I would fill out her stamp books and we would go to the S & H store and redeem the books, the store had everything, from dishes, to cookware, furniture, beddings, it was great, it was something I did with my mom as a child, great memories, thanks for posting this, I enjoyed watching.
Love that! What a nice memory!
i love your videos so much jeannie! you’re such a wonderful person! my favorites of yours are ur magazine flip thrus especially the ones from the 70s as i love the 70s 🩷
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate this!
Love love love this!!❤
Thank you!
I mostly grew up with Piggly Wiggly and they had their own book as did Publix. I of course do not remember using them, but I do remember during a spring cleaning and finding a bunch of them and throwing them away. My grandfather was born in 1907, so he went through the Great Depression and that man kept everything. I guess you could say, my mother and my grandfather were like organized hoarders. Thankfully I am a minimalist and I have next to no problem, throwing crap away or giving it away. You’re actually bringing out some memories for me that I haven’t thought of or couldn’t remember honestly. 😅
OK I need to try to go to sleep since I have surgery early in the morning. Travel safe.❤
Praying for a safe surgery. Thank you for all your supportive words. I’m very grateful 😢 I’m making progress

Besides being very comforting and relaxing, your videos also help me improve my English pronunciation. I love them so much!!❣️
My mom used to talk about greenstamps. I have a set of ceramic mallard ducks she got by saving them.
Awww! 🦆 That’s great!
One of my boys name is Holden! After he was born, an older man asked me his name. When I told him he said, “like the stamps!” 😂 I’ve never understood what he meant until just now! And he’s about to turn 4😅
Ha! Wow! That’s so cool!!
Love you mama ❤
Back atcha, kiddo!
My husband has a story about his mother. They had traveled to “town” from their farm to the S&H store where he and his three siblings were going to be able to pick out some things with a stack of books held by a rubber band. At some point his mother realized she did not have the stack of books, so she went to the front of the store and stood on a table where she loudly announced that no one was leaving the store until her books were found! My husband was mortified as you can imagine. Someone finally came forward and said are these yours? She had found them on a shelf where I’m sure his mother had laid them and forgotten. 😮😂
That is an amazing and funny story!! 😁
I'm 75 and it was great seeing these again. We had so many of these things as I come from a family of 8 kids...lots of groceries! My mom got me the hairdryer with the bonnet for my high school graduation gift with the S&H stamps. I completely agree with your comments about today's towels. I hate the current fluffy monsters that take forever to dry and just smear the water around rather than dry the body. This was such fun, thank you for sharing. ❤
I remember those hair dryer bonnets so fondly! They were so "cool!" Thanks for sharing this!
I lost my grandmother when she was young, only just into her 50's. I loved her so very much and I miss her to this day, over twenty five years later. You're videos take me back to being a child, and spending time with her, and that really brings me comfort and joy. Thank you so very much for these videos, they are wonderful. I really appreciate you.
This is so touching! Thank you for sharing this!
The Pyrex stuff is so cool
Thanks you have a beautiful voice

Thank you 😊
It reminds me of the gift cards of today
Yeah my mom collected Blue Chip Stamps. I remember them well. Yeah I'm that old lolz
😂
Perfect `looking thru`video as usual! I agree about `thirsty towels`- I prefer them too, so you don't have to try to dry up like forever😁//Greetings from Sweden🎆😃
Yes! The velvety ones just don’t absorb. 😂
I cannot believe how awesome this is! I never heard about it, but I'm sad and shocked this system isn't around anymore. Little me would've loved all the music instruments and record players(I have a modern one now!)
Watching this video is an incredible experience! As someone from Brazil, these magazines take me on a captivating journey through a different time and space. It's truly a remarkable feeling, and it fills me with joy
Wow, thank you!
Wow! I remember my sisters and I having to lick and fill in all the S&H green stamp books for our mother. She would get them every time she went grocery shopping. I can't remember what she bought with them. Thanks for remembering the stamps!
I was born in the early 80s and I vividly remember going with my mother to a green stamp store. Mom kept our stamps in an old McCoy cookie jar on top of the fridge. She bought a cream and harvest gold electric skillet with her books once & it still works!! She makes her roasts and hamburger steaks in there to this day. 😊
Wow! That’s awesome! Boy, they don’t make things like they used to! That’s amazing it’s still in good working order!
I have a Cookie Monster cookie jar my mom got with stamps. Great video!
Awesome! That’s a great memory!! Thanks for sharing!
Oh my. That was my job as a kid. I had to fill those books. I love this.
