I love this act. If you look at the smiling man 1 min 10 sec in the video it´s the King of Sweden. He´s got a good sence of humour and knows fur sure that Robert Gustavsson is a really funny caracter. I also saw the Finnish president, Swedish prime minister and many other really prominent persons. It´s also funny that it seems that many in the audience doesn´t realise that this is a joke.

A lot of the comedy here is language related as the character is not very good at english, and often mixes swedish/english words with diffrerent meanings. If you know swedish you can pick up on what he wants to say in english, but he often ends up totally buchering it. Might be hard to pick up on if you do not know swedish.

He's been regarded as the funniest comedian in Sweden for many years. I love him. It's sad how much comedy around the world can't be enjoyed because of the language barrier. And here he's doing some word play with Swedish words that sound like English words with a different meaning.
1:08 Sweden's king right there. Robert is like the modern day jester to the king. The one famous one in Swedish he did for the king is the best of this type.

It is full of Swedish words that does not work well when used directly in English. A few examples are "chef" (boss or manager), "prick" (dot, when referring to Swedish character Ö/ö), "fock" (make unemployed), "blåsningen" (scam, but literally meaning "the blow"), "dessa härliga bollar" (these wonderfull balls, but "härliga" sounds like "hairy"), "the deep throat" (refers to "vrångstrupen" which means "the wrong throat", which can make you choke). The clip would need quite a few of these explanations to make sense for a non-Swede. At the end, by the flag, his is singing a very direct and poor translation of the Swedish national anthem.

The backstory is based on a real person who had a gardening segment in a Sunday TV show on SVT. And in a live segment he managed to cut himself in the thumb. So he was bleeding on live tv. But ever the professional he kept on a good appearance before someone could come to his aid.
Robert hasn done a parody character on Bertil that always ends in severe injury or other shenanigans in the most insane ways imaginable..

HOWEVER the Swedish Pickled herring IS VERY popular! So popular that it is eaten both at: - Christmas, Midsummer's eve and Easter!

Robert is definitely one of the absolute best and biggest comedians in Swedish history, especially when it comes to slapstick humor and use of different dialects.
Some of these jokes might've gone over people's heads, because he's speaking what we call "swenglish", which is the combination of Swedish and English that happens when someone isn't good at English.
I highly recommend you watch Robert explaining the dialects of Sweden, because that's really brilliant and you'll get a view over how much the language can change depending on where you live.
Also his skits from the show Nile City is awesome, especially Greger the fire captain.
But over all, the best stuff from him is most of the things he did in the 90's and early 2000's.

He is legendary, the funniest man in Sweden.
I think most of th ejokes do not work unless you know Swedish. The point is that he translates Swedish into English is a very word-by-word literal way, sometimes merely because the words sound similar. If you're really bad at English, this are the kind of silly mistakes you might make.
All of that is lost on someone who doens't know Swedish.

@@marcusfridh8489 Anders Lundin berättade för Svenskamerikanerna om Bernadotte (House of the Axe, vars motto är Härska genom Delning och som stöder "mångkultur" och islamiseringen av Sverige, precis som våra folkförrädare) när de var på besök på Åland om varför adeln hade tagit hit Jean Baptist Bernadotte, i förhoppningen att han skulle återta Finland från Ryssland, men istället tog Norge.

This is actually funny - for the Swedish audience, watching it here in this context, it is not really... and yeah this is performed before some important people, at 1:06 the Swedish monarch can be seen.

"Sill" (herring) is a bit smelly if you get it thrown at you, but basically quite nice in the right contest. "Surströmming" is also herring but requires a bit of bravery to try (bravery I, as a Swede, have never been able to muster), because it is frequently ranked as the most foul smelling food on earth (incidentally it is forbidden to bring on aeroplanes, even in the tin).

Correction: "s" and "x" are close to each other on the keyboard; it should be "context".

you should check out gösta ekman´s sketches as the character "papphammar" for som old school classic swedish slapstick. Its so stupid yet so hilarious. not sure if their are videos with subititles, but most of it is strictly physical comedy without words

As many allready said. There are the King, our old prime minister, princesses and other "importent people".
I think you should look in to Gösta Ekman. Robert is very much inspired of him.
