  • This is a practical video of how to wire a TPN manual changeover switch.
the changeover switch is a mechanism that is used to switch between two Electrical power supplies. That is, between a main power supply and a stand-by supply, to supply and electrical installation.
The changeover switch takes in two different electrical power sources, namely:
    1. main power source and
    2. Stand-by power source
and the output is taken to the electrical distribution board. this means that the changeover switch has three sections: Main power supply, Stand-by supply, and output to the consumer unit.
TPN Changeover switches come in different shapes and construction but the principle of operation is the same.
When wiring a TPN changeover switch, the most important thing is to identify the sections for the two power sources and the output.
you can easily find out by using a continuity tester or a test lamp.
