MacIntyre Range Adirondacks // A Favorite ADK 46er High Peaks Hike

  • The MacIntyre Range is one of my favorite Adirondack High Peak 46er hikes. The MacIntyre range includes Wright Peak, Algonquin Peak, Iroquois Peak, and Mt. Marshall. We hiked Wright, Algonquin, and Iroquois in the video. Summiting Mt. Marshall from Iroquois requires a bushwhack over the Shepard's tooth which was not in the plan for the day.

    The MacIntyre Range is in my top 3 hikes in the Adirondacks. What is your favorite hike in the Adirondacks?

      I think Giant and rocky peak to new russia was my favorite followed by the dix range but that's only because that's really all i done so far besides marcy. Giant and rocky peak was tough though, but man some of the views were amazing especially when seeing the pond on a mountain. The Macintyre range is on my next to do range, so this could change by then.

      RPR from New Russia.
      I just did the Macs July 31st it was a beautiful hike for sure!

      @@Starnerdzthe Macs are alot easier than doing RPR from New Russia. All open summits your going to enjoy them!

      @@Starnerdzthe New Russia traverse is definitely up there on my list. The Dix range is also pretty amazing. I have only done both in winter. I am doing New Russia in October. I need to get back to Dix in the summer.

    One of my absolute favorites. Best bang for buck in high peaks because it is so accessible. The view from Algonquin is spectacular, one of the best in entire area. Last climbed it 20 years ago. Was not in great shape. Thighs were sore for a week.

      Totally agree, I would say it is in my top 3 of ADK High Peak hikes.

      @@OutsideChronicles Me too. Marcy-Skylight via Avalanche Lake, upper Great Range to Haystack, Giant via the Ridge. A lot of really good ones I never did.

    One of my favorites as well. Next time I go I'm planning on doing the loop by taking the trail down to Avalanche Lake - - a few more miles, but Avalanche Lake is worth it.

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  Před 9 měsíci

      Yes, I try to loop through Avalanche Lake any time I can. The Algonquin trail down to the Avalanche Lake is no joke. Both the trail down and Avalanche Lake add a bunch of effort.

    • @Starnerdz
      @Starnerdz Před 9 měsíci

      @@OutsideChronicles - I was really wanting to go down that way instead of going back up and over Algonquin to get out of there but everyone told me i am better off going up and over Algonquin cause its rough going down that trail between Algonquin and Iroquois.

    • @OutsideChronicles
      @OutsideChronicles  Před 9 měsíci

      @@Starnerdz correct, the Algonquin trail is steep and rough and Avalanche Lake is not the easiest.

  •  Před 5 měsíci

    Did you do this hike as the full loop? or after the iroquois peak, did you just turn around and go back the same way you came (thus avoiding doing the full loop and making the hike shorter?) how long did the whole hike take you? thanks

    • @kenkaplan3654
      @kenkaplan3654 Před 4 měsíci

      Avoiding the full loop plan 6-8 hours.
