As a dog trainer …you did everything right! Well done!!
From all your videos since getting Vilk, you have raised him so well. His travel life (training), obedience training , and your crate training combined made this flight the least stressful possible for him. You have trained him to be confident and handle what life throws at him, just as you do.
As a disabled service dog handler & trainer…Thank you for not only sharing the difference between service dog and pet dog flying but for actually abiding by it. Vilk is so well trained, you probably could have slapped a vest on him and he would have been as respectful and responsible as an SD would and be able to handle it bc of how you raised and trained him as evidenced in several of your videos in public spaces prove. Your integrity shines through and I greatly appreciate you. So many ppl do not realize that faking an SD not only puts real SDs in danger, but it can be extremely stressful for dogs not trained to confidently handle the human world outside of their home bubble.
Thank you for allI that you do. You have been an inspiration in my RV journey. When I moved into my RV, I rewatched some of your Vilk puppy vids for travel specific training I had noticed in them that would be useful to me and my clients. Thank you for teaching through sharing your life.

The pilot was super nice. I live in the Netherlands and always fly back and forth to visit my American family with KLM. Not only that but I'm a collector of KLM mini-houses. It's a wonderful airline.
I'm also a huge pet lover and am so happy for you and Vilk. You've trained him well over the time you've had him from a pup, and it shows. He handled the stress of travel superbly. Well done, you. It's also good to know about the travel conditions for him, which were better than I would've thought too from all the comments of others travelling with animals as well.
So, welcome to Europe. Welcome home, Eva!

But flying my dogs has been a huge concern for me. I’m still not sure if my current dog can handle the trip like Vilk did (my other dog passed). It’s so concerning to me. I have a big Alaskan Malamute and ever since she was a tiny puppy she'd been claustrophobic. She screams and wails in fear when she's in a tight space like a crate. She's not even a big fan of closed doors. She tolerates being in a room with a closed door, but she's not happy about it and expresses her displeasure when she gets released. I would not be able to fly with her at all unless she was in the cabin and even then I believe she'd be quite anxious. You're very lucky Vilk is such a good boy that tolerates a crate well.

I really feel for you and your dog, because I have one who looks just like yours. I can’t imagine traveling anywhere with him. It looks like your dog is much better behaved! Which is a blessing!

Sorry you had to leave the US. I think you had a love for our country and I will miss your videos from the states. Good luck to you and Vilk on all your future endeavors.❤😊

This video was so emotional for me. You did a great job of preparing him, that crate is great and KLM, WOW! I am glad to hear that they can control the temperature in there now. My cat was traumatized and never the same again, almost froze to death, and ended up having medical problems for the rest of his life, my dear sweet Sooty. That was in the late 90s/early 2000s, and the domestic flight in the US was the bad one, not the international flights so much.

Glad to see your good boy made it okay. All of your attention to his training through his life really prepared him for that adventure. With as many places and adventures you've gone on together I'm sure he's adapted to the idea of being in different conditions.

I've enjoyed following many of your posts: particularly ones with Vilk. My Canadian Inuit Dog was flown to Winnipeg MB. from Pangnirtung on Baffin Island Canada: there were two stops to change planes for the 3500 km. distance. I had never met the dog, having only seen pictures of her. When I picked her up at the airport, I had no idea of how she would react to me, or her new surroundings: I did expect that she would be happy very soon to be loved by our family as she was rescued from certain death due to neglect at the age of one. Pappi lived to age of 15, and after a year I can't imagine having any other type of dog.

Sorry to see you leave, however like others have said there are a lot more affordable places in the US and just as spectacular if you were able to spend time there you may have found that home you are dreaming of. The mountains of Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina, Western part of Virginia,Maine and Vermont just to name some. Hope you find that place to make it your home.

Yes, she didn't get to travel the U.S. fully and only looked in a couple states. I think Europe was drawing her back though with her family being there. She cannot easily come-&-go with such a big dog either.

America has lost a naturally beautiful, ambitious, adventurous, independent, and productive potential citizen along with her wonderfully trained canine companion IMHO. I'm very happy Vilk endured the flight so well. This part of America misses you two already. God bless and protect you both.
