- Shrek was NON-STOP HILARIOUS! Not sure why it took 22 years to watch this but so happy to finally watch it! The adult jokes were firing the whole movie and we were here for it! Definitely a movie that the parents didn't mind taking the kids to go see! If Shrek 1 was this good, can't wait to see all of the other Shrek movies!

The third one is not my favorite, but it's not terrible. The 4th one Shrek 4 Ever After is one of my favorites. Shrek 4 Ever After and the Second Shrek are my 2 favorites. If you guys want to react to all of them you should,but only if that is what you guys want to do. Love your videos.

Fun Fact: Eddie Murphy's BAFTA nomination for his voiceover performance was the first of its kind.
Mythology Fact: Loosely based on William Steig's fairytale picture book of the same name. The character of Shrek (Mike Myers) is based on a figure of the same name in Russian folklore, dating as far back as 1200 CE.
That's Dark Fact: When the fairytale creatures arrive at Shrek's (Mike Myers) swamp, you can see Papa Bear comforting Baby Bear at a fire. Later in Lord Farquaad's (John Lithgow) castle, as he watches Fiona (Cameron Diaz) on the mirror you see Mama Bear as a rug, skinned, and laying on the floor.
Voice Play Fact: The principal actors never met each other. They all read their parts separately, with a reader feeding them the lines. John Lithgow later admitted that, while he enjoyed playing Lord Farquaad, he was a little disappointed that he never actually worked directly with Mike Myers, Cameron Diaz, or Eddie Murphy.
Music Enthusiast Fact: The song All Star (1999) by Smash Mouth, heard in the opening credits, was only a placeholder for test screenings until a new song could be found. But test audiences loved it, and the producers kept it in. When the producers decided to keep All Star (1999) they decided to let the band perform the last song in the movie, I'm A Believer (2001).
No True Scot Fact: Mike Myers originally voiced Shrek with his natural speaking voice before the film was test-screened. Then he tried country Canadian accents for Shrek. However, after viewing a rough cut of the film, he felt that something was missing from his performance, and re-recorded all of his lines with a Scottish accent, based on the voice his mother used when reading him bedtime stories as a child. The original voice can still be heard in the technical goofs on the DVD. The decision to revoice Shrek in a Scottish accent ended up costing an additional $4 million, as it took him twenty sessions to complete the re-voiceover. This was his first voice performance in an animated film.

The classic Disney animated cartoons were based on medieval and Victorian fairy tales, such as by the Brothers Grim (and which are really bloodthirsty and cruel). Disney of course really cleaned them up for modern-day children and their parents. Disney owned the copyrights on THEIR versions (and still do) but Dreamworks was able to use the original versions which are in the public domain.

I understand at the time this movie was made, Dreamworks was at odds with Disney. So the prince was a spoof on Disney CEO Michael Eisner, emphasizing his height (or lack thereof), and making him resemble Eisner, too. Dreamworks called him "f ckwad" behind his back, hence the name.

Almost correctly. Dreamworks wasn't at odds with Disney, founder of Dreamworks was, and Shrek was manifestation of that hatred.

Eddie Murphy is an iconic man, forever and ever. 👏👏👏🤗 I watched Shrek both in English and the Polish dub, and I am in love in both ; there's just sth about the script and the story that actors can just have fun with. Bless! ☺️💚

One of the major directors at Disney(Jeffrey Katzenberg) had a falling out with Disney's CEO Michael Eisner. So Katzenberg and some other Disney animators created DreamWorks. Shrek is literally a mockery of Disney and it's fairytales. Duloc is Disney World and the king of it is Lord Farquaad(which sound like Lord Fuckwad), who looks a lot like Michael Eisner.
And they made Farquaad short because Eisner teased Katzenberg about his height.
Katzenberg literally made this movie to get back at his bad boss lol

@@BAUScoupleReacts I know CBS showed Shreck The Halls a couple weeks and I would imagine most streaming services would have them (the other one is Scared Sreckless). Lastly. I think there is a DVD called Tales of Shreck (or something like that) that has them.
