Now that I watched this movie as an adult, I realized that lord farquaad killed mama bear, (you can see the bear kid cry with his father in shrek’s wedding), mama bear was seen last as farquaad carpet while he asked the wall mirror to show him Fiona over and over

If you want to see the even funnier version of this story that Shrek definitely drew inspiration from watch The Princess Bride. I can't count how many reactors think Prince Humperdinck reminds these younger reactors of Lord Farquaad
I'm sorry bro, Princess Bride is great n' all but Shrek is the far superior comedy, and it was mainly inspired by the Dreamworks' execs hatred for Disney's traditional fairy tales, not PB
I was a teenager when this movie came out and I liked it, because it wasn't necessarily a kids movie, there are a lot of jokes for adults in there and it was fun for everyone. It still is

Greatest irony about Lord Farquaad being so short is that he is voiced by John Lithgow, who is 6' 4". If you want to see more of his work, watch Third Rock from the Sun.
Also, I just now realized this but...why is Robin Hood French? He is supposed to be an English lord? XD
Given the time that Robin Hood is set, he was most likely Norman. So French would be his 1st language. Assuming the filmmakers were aware enough of British history of course!

61 yrs of age and I LOVE this movie. It’s a classic, pure and simple, and it will still be regarded as such a hundred years from now.

You know what’s messed up in the part where the fairytale creatures were being sold off the momma bear was the one that was taken, when the bears show up again the mother is gone and when the scene shows lord farquaad was admiring Fiona the momma bear was killed and turned into a rug. I literally didn’t notice that until now!
Donkey was my favourite character in this film I absolutely love Eddie Murphy's humor and I absolutely loved seeing Ellie being like a little girl again at the end so sweet.can I suggest Despicable Me one of the funniest animated films I've ever seen.

@@scyxwill5965 Well, it introduces amazing characters like the fairy Godmother, Prince Charming and the Puss in Boots. The stakes are higher than the first movie. That final sequence with the infiltration of the castle has levels of epic none of the other movies reach. And fairy Godmother's rendition of "I need a hero" while it all happens is an absolute blast...

I thought the captain of the guard's voice sounded familiar. I looked it up, and it turns out he's voiced by Jim Cummings. I have heard his voice in almost every cartoon, I notice it when I hear it.
He also plays Winnie the Pooh, and Tigger.

I still have no idea why Robin Hood in Shrek has a French accent when he's an English folk hero
People had made a really big deal about Kevin Costner doing his normal American accent when playing Robin Hood (Mel Brooks made fun of that in "Men in Tights"), but the fact is that French was the language nobles spoke in England around 1200 as a result of the Norman invasion. So Shrek is more historically accurate than the versions which have Robin speak with a modern British accent.
@@jecelassumpcaojr890 you mean old french, and by the time of the 15th century it became fashionable for nobility to speak English (this was 400 years since William the conqueror), they could also speak French and Latin but they would've spoken mostly English.
I get the point about Costner but as a Brit myself Costner's accent was the smallest problem, the geography was all wrong in the movie, for starters they land in Dover (in southern England) and claim to be walking to Nottingham, but then end up in the next shot at Hadrian's wall (north of Nottingham), this would be the equivalent to me claiming I'm going to walk from California to Florida and part way there end up in Hawaii, we're used to Americans doing crappy English accents so thats not a huge problem for us
