I love these videos with the old man. He seems like a very mild-mannered personality, but his shop inventions tell a different story. He is clearly a madman, and the franken-sander is such a fitting name for one of his projects.
Hey, Who you calling old? 😂
You’ve got him figured out. 😂 ~Patti (Jeff’s Wifey and Kyle’s Mom)
Hey @@Mom-tt5sr 👋🏻
Hi Mom 👋
old? lmao
She's a beautiful nakiri, dad. Your work just keeps getting better and better
That freehand engraving is absolutely gorgeous! So well done! Your videos are so calming, between your commentary and the incredible background audio. Well done team Royer!
Duuude! Been watching you for YEARS at home on my TV. NOW I can comment!! I hope to have enough money some day but I want a full culinary set from you and your dad!! I BBQ competition plus collect knives too. YOU ARE BOTH AWESOME!!!!!!!
The Royers have a way of inspiring me and making me feel completely inadequate as a knife maker all at the same time!!! Thank you guys!!!😢
good lord she purty...the music fits so well too, a playlist of these could be playing in the back round at an after hours club lol...Also, i know it's meant to be short and quick but i'd love to see some real deal beauty shots at the end on something like this
Holy Moly!! Thank you for the honorable mention!
Always a pleasure to watch dad make some nice, beautiful knifes. 👍
Truly a nice piece. I would love to see the chef using it to prep vegetables!
Always love it when Dad Royer showcases a new build. What a beauty! (The knife, that is...) :D
Very nice job! I definetly need to incorporate some metal in my handles in the future as well!
Quick questions: How did you gold plate the pommel nut? Wich gold salt did you use? What current and voltage where you using? Is there anywhere a video of this on this channel or if not are you considering making a video about that process?
Your craftmanship is beyond incredible...
I love seeing large billets like that being made. It allows you to make several knives out of one billet. Very smart and saves loads of time. Also, your knife making skills have improved SO much over the past year. It's actually amazing to watch and I wanna thank you for sharing your growth with all of us.
I love Kyle's work but I love the vibe of dad.it's like he's talking to me personally.
I like the way the midline swoops toward the tang down at the bottom, like it's growing out of the handle. The scrollwork on the scales looks good, as well. Great pattern, great handle- nice build! Thanks for posting.
The engraving is a really classy touch.
Really dig the engraving on the handle, looked great!
Very interesting, refreshing use of materials. Not the same old metal wood scenario 👍🏻
Здравствуйте , мне очень понравилось как вы сделали легендарный длинный меч . Я паражон вашим талантом особенно инкрустация золотом я первый раз увидел как это делается и я снимаю шляпу. Вы молодец 👍👍👍
Nicely done, that handle is amazing.
Quite a treat.
Way to go, Daddio.
holy master craftsman batman!
Thats one gorgeus nakiri
Wow. Superlative craftsmanship.
Wow dad, you have totally reset the bar with this one. I love every aspect of the knife. It all looks so great together. The owner is a lucky person.
As always, Go Team Royer!
This is the first video of yours I have watched and my mind has been blown. I can only aspire to be half as good. I am new to bladesmithing and whilst I have studied for a while I am only now getting the opportunity to set up a forge ! I have added a wedge die to my order now, as well !!!!! I loved the effect. Thank you again for a great video.
Very nicely done. It has that 19th century hunting knife vibe!
Every single one of you knifes are pease of art Tnx for sharing with us god bless you
Awesome epic great!!!!! Something completely different love it.
Please put dad in the title for dad videos
Your family knives will be in museums one day. Yes, they are definitely that good. Hopefully the videos will be persevered. Just imagine, 400 years from now seeing an artifact being foraged and narrated by the creator. And then seeing how well the blade and handle held up after all that time.
This man deserves a triple A.🤘😎
Hey thanks my friend
Dad
Its a fantastic looker, the blade is really wafer thin too which should make it one heck of a performer
Wow, very cool filework!! Kinda sad its „only“ 14min. I could have watched for hours or 4 months of knifemaker+. Nice Knife 👍🏼
You should try some silver and gold makume gane!! Youd be the first I’ve ever seen to actually implement these into anything besides jewelry, you could even do rose gold white gold and regular gold, that would be absolutely stunning, if your worried about the softness you could work-harden the golds after they are finished and then give ‘em a quick polish so they look even better!
Come on man, a true artist at work!!!
It's a very amazing work made by a person full of art, to be a beautiful work 😍
Wow, the engraving really makes it pop. Absolutely phenomenal.
Hey thanks Maddd
Cheers my friend
Dad

I love your entire family you guys really are the best at what you do
Dads builds are awesome...Kyles builds are legendary. The video footage is equally superb...how about a swop and Josh builds a blade 😎
Love this video. Nice work on the hand carving. Beautiful
The one thing that Your family has that I would like to see videos for is the full time business runner. Nobody on CZcams is showing what it actually looks like to run a bladesmith business. I would bet that there are hundreds of thousands of new or hobbyist bladesmiths who could literally profit from what Mom could teach, and they will come running if you offered it.
Such a calm relaxing manner of commentary. Maybe you could do audiobooks or land a commentary gig on TV.
Hey thanks my friend
Dad
I'd have loved a bit of a longer view at the end to appreciate the workmanship and hard work. Beautiful knife and well documented. Awesome 👍
Hey thanks Darren
Dad
I love Dad's videos. So relaxing, and such beautiful work of course!
This looks awesome bud, one of my favorites so far. You and your son do some phenomenal work. 👏 bravo 👏
Grazie Frankie. Glad you are here hanging out with us all.
Nice finished product Jeff.
Very nicely done!!
Must be where Kyle gets his attention to detail..... Beautiful Blade Dad Keep the Videos coming, You and Kyles commentary are the best! You always let us know exactly whats going on so Helpful to new Bladesmiths
Hey thanks Chris. Kyle is my master, I’m still an apprentice 👍🏻☕️🔥⚔️
Chao.
Dad
Nice work Mr. Royer! Love it!
Mr Royer sir, You are amazing
Woot! Another dad video! That's a glorious piece, yet again!
That’s a beautiful knife Jeff. I still can’t believe how fast your talent grew in this trade. Im sure having a great teacher helps a lot. 😉
I love dads videos😊
I like what you did with the reciprocating jig for sanding but agree it does look a lil scary to use lol. Have a look at videos from Sharup, he made something similar converting rotational motion to linear and uses it on all his knives, looks a lot tamer to use. Bravo on the finish, this looks so beautiful, love the free hand detail on the handle, really does look gorgeous. Take care, love from South Africa
Looks great, I'd love to see a video about all of the shop made tools and jigs that you guys use!
At first glance I thought Kyle did this one! Really impressed
Very well done Mr. Royer! 🤩
Hey thanks Jan
Dad
I love your knives. They are right up there with all the other top smiths on youtube. I’m not a big fan of the art knives a lot of these guys build for youtube. Sure their beautiful, but you know they’ll never be used, and to me that is such a shame.
Lately your knives have really improved, your right up there with the other top tier makers. But while up there, going toe to toe with the best, you still build them to be used, and or that I thank you.
Have you ever thought about doing your own channel? Though, now that I said that, your videos have helped your son’s content to be more regular. The algorithm. Love that. I have two grown sons, and I’d do anything for them, anything.
Please don’t take anything I said as a slight to your son, he is on artist and his knives are possibly the best on youtube.
His pieces are museum level, they can’t be compared to anything else I’ve seen. He’s on a completely different level.
While you have not caught up with Kyle, you are making some of the best art blades on CZcams. This thing is out of this world. I would love to see you start your own channel at some time, as your videos are so different from your son's.
Beautiful knife awesome job.
Beautiful guillochage
I believe the technical name for your Franken-sander is a "vibration tester". See what kinds of bolted joints come undone after about a thousand cycles. :)
I am going to build a fanken sander tomorrow 👍 great knife and awesome job as always
So beautiful!!
Hey Dad, once again you're hitting it outta the park with your artistic work.
Was watching the file work thinking how good it will look, then your engraving just finished it to an exquisite level.
Take down on a kitchen knife wouldn't be my choice, but the customer wants what the customer wants.
Well done mate, looking forward to your next piece. G.
Mais um lindo trabalho. O entalhe na parte de cobre do cabo ficou sensacional. Parabéns
Great job and awesome knife
Beautiful knife dad! That file work on the handle is so smooth!!! 🤩
Hats off to you, you just keep getting better and better! Amazing piece!
Beautiful
That is lovely!
Wonder what a beauty like that would cost?
They are selling their knifes online, the prices are as you would expect. Royal prices for royal knifes
Hey thanks Clif. You can contact me at jeff@royercutlery.com for availability and pricing. Keep Forging On my friend
Dad
I wonder how much that one sold for. Certainly with that handle it must be up there in price!
you make the most beautyfull knifes on this planet. too nice to work with and to expensive for my budget, this is art.but its not a chef knife, its a nakiri.
"kinda scary to use..." lol - That thing looks awesome. Cheers sir
Hey thanks my friend
Dad
Such a great and soothing voice.
Hey thanks Linus.
Chao.
Dad
Wow that's awesome
beautifull knife
Beautiful mastercraft
Hey thanks
Feather pattern is my favorite
Absolutely. Mine also. Cheers
Dad
The Damascus patter looks like the marbling on an a5 wagyu steak. Is suits it given its a Japanese knife.
So beautiful Knife. Appreciate the content 👍👍
Feeling the love my friend. Thanks
Dad
Awesome 😎
You mention using a special copper alloy. Does it tarnish, any hint on what the alloy is? Very beautiful build.
brilliant work as always!
Hey thanks Brian
Dad
Amazing work
Hey thanks my friend
Dad
Good job dude
Very nice.
Really nice
Hey Jeff, Great job. Absolutely stunning as always. I was just wondering, after you split it with the wedge, how much cleaning and prep is there to the inside surfaces before you weld them back together to make the feather. I can't ever remember seeing anybody cover that part. I would assume they have some scale and need to be smoothed up some, but I don't know, I have never tried it. Thanks. Really glad to see more content coming from you. Priceless. (And for everything else, there's Mastercard)
Great knife, the feather patern is always cool, 🤔 I'm wondering, if you took a tight jellyroll damascus and feather patterned it, what might that look like? Just a thought. 👋
If your frankenmachine scares you, have it activated by a foot switch with an e-stop for good measure LOL
Good ❤
Good
Good
Such a beautiful knife, you’ve done a top job, the file work and engraving are amazing! Love that sanding machine, looks like something from a “Mad Max” movie 🤪. Regards from Down Under.
Love the file work - that's gorgeous! Question though.... for a functional chef's knife - don't they want the cutting edge to be mono steel? Doesn't the pattern wield ultimately produce an uneven cutting edge? Or is the difference in the metals so minute that there isn't a practical difference?
for a home made sanding machine, have a look at the one Shurap uses in his videos, really simple and predictable setup
Fricken decent! I'm still blown away by the shotgun blade ( pun intended) but just an idea on the frankensander... Been wanting to do the same for a while now myself but adding a potentiometer so the option of variable speed is there.
Hey thanks Tr.
jury still out on use ability. Mine is variable. Flame on my friend
Dad
That is a beautiful piece of equipment. Thanks for another great build. You guys never disappoint with your work ethic and construction. I'm headed to the sawmill to work on some cedar logs. I've got several broken bandsaw blades do you guys have any advice for what I can do with them?
I just redid my kitchen so I recognized that granite top for what it was lol
