  • A friend asked me to make her blueberry bagels so I decided to test on camera. I didn't know where to find the dried blueberries so I used fresh blueberries and blended it into a paste to distribute it equally into the dough.

    These look so good. I have Celiac Disease so I'm going to try them with gluten free flour. I'll let you know how they turn out.

    Hi thank you for the recipe!
    I made the bagels and they turned out excellent in texture, goldie shade, and rise, but they just tasted like yeast with the slightest bit of blueberry. I followed your measurements. Only thing I did different was I proofed the first mixture for 1hr & 30 mins and the second one for 30minutes. I kneaded for 15 mins after the first proof then 10 mins the next proof. Did I over proof and that somehow affected the flavor? I’m new to baking and just wanted to give these a try.

    Do you have to use bread flour or is regular white flour alright? Or will it make a difference?

    • @bunnihanni
      @bunnihanni Před měsícem

      Apparently bread flour works better for bagels to give it that classic chewy texture. But you can use all purpose flour if that is all you have, if you do not mind that it will be less chewy :)

    you didn't knead the dough long enough. If you want to get a nice, chewy bagel, the dough needs to be kneaded for around 15 minutes until the dough is smooth and not tacky. Your dough was still tacky after it rose.
