    The simplest and quickest way to make run the Mavic Air in FCC mod, no matter where your location is!
    Follow these few simple steps on Android device:
    1. Download and install the Fake GPS app - bit.ly/2osNcnV
    2. Enable Developer options on your device - go to Settings - about - Build number and tap 7 times on the build number
    3. Go to Developer options. Find "Mock Locations" or "Select Mock Location app" and choose FakeGPS.
    4. Open Fake GPS app. Choose a location in the USA. Tap "Start".
    5. Turn the drone and the transmitter on
    6. Connect to the transmitter as usual and Open the DJI Go 4 app.
    7. It will ask you to switch WiFi settings. Choose "YES"! The transmitter will restart.
    8. Once the restart is completed, go to Settings - Wifi in the DJI Go 4 app and make sure you see 11 bands on 2.4GHz. If you see 13, you are still in CE mode. Go back to the previous steps and find out what you did wrong.
    9. Stop the Fake GPS app. you no longer need it.
    10. Enjoy and FLY RESPONSIBLY!
    Note: Once you switch to FCC and you stop the Fake GPS app, the DJI Go 4 will ask you to switch WLAN settings every time before flying. Always choose "No", as otherwise it will return the settings to CE mode.
    For IOS:

    Wow..u did it again with Mavic Air from CE to FCC without modd app. Your explanation is crystal clear and easily understood.

    This is awesome!! It works, and i don't need any kind of hack. I live in CE area, and 200 - 300 meters are more than enough for me. But sometimes i loose signal way too early which initiates RTH. Having all the extra power to stay in control is a nice feeling.

    Thanks buddy!!! It's still working!
    Great explanations. I use both my Android phone and my iPAD. I've been happy to see that when I now plugged in the iPAD, it's still in FCC mode! So the remote is the key to all!
    Thanks again!

    I can confirm that this works even across devices, once it's "saved" to the controller on Android you can switch to iOS and it'll ask the same question. However, once I accidentally hit "ok" on Android while in the field (thus going back to CE mode) and the Fake GPS app just wouldn't work. Once I went back home, it worked again. I *think* that if DJI Go receives GPS data from the aircraft, it's going to override the GPS from the phone, therefore staying in CE mode if you're in Europe.

    @eMMjunaYschion Před 4 lety +2

    Many, many thanks! If I only knew that it was SO easy. I thought it involved faking the location every time again, but it's simply switching the remote into FCC and not allowing it to switch back. It's so easy, one could think DJI has got a solution against it, but they probably don't care, not their responsibility anymore. I didn't fly yet, just switched, but I'm excited to see the results. I don't need kilometers of range, but if I get 300m without disturbances in the video feed, I'm already happy.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 4 lety +1

      I am very happy that it works for you! And indeed - it takes only a couple of minutes;
      DJI have more or less no choice - if they don't respect regulations, they are about to be in a serious trouble. Good that they still keep the backdoor unlocked 😇

      @TechMishka  Před 4 lety

      It doesn't. Luckily the Drone has its own GPS and it is the one used for RTH.

  • @AlonMelamedPhotography

    Hi, first thanks for the super clear video. I didn't even need to take notes, so clear and straight forward it is. My procedure failed because I did not have the "cancel" botton. as soon as I reconnected the phone to the controller with "normal" GPS - it told me it changes settings to the local ones, and allowed me only to OK it...

    • @TechMishka

    Hi tech4all,
    In CE mode my Spark would fly close to 350m, and that is with glitches and video losses. After FCC mod, my personal best record yesterday was 2235m without any video glitches. Decided to trigger RTH as the battery level has reached 45%. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good effort!

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 6 lety

      cheguazam , I am so glad you share this result! Awesome! I haven't done any range tests on the Mavic air, because the terrain around where I live is not suitable and the weather is anyways quite bad :-) But the CE mode of the mavic Air is as restrictive as the one on the Spark. I barely felt any difference.

    @knoxieman Před 5 lety

    Yes lots of people posting this mod which is very good info but DJI have stopped this trick from working in the latest version of the App, I am running Android version 4.3.0, it lets you switch to FCC mode when you run fake GPS app but the minute you stop running the fake location it defaults back to CE mode without asking you. Is there a version of 4.3.0 that has this limit taken out? how recent is the hacked version in the facebook group? and can I install both versions of the app on 1 device? Thanks for sharing.

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 5 lety

      THere is a way to have two versions of the app if your smartphone supports it. But there is nothing wrong staying at slightly older version - I don't think there will be many new features arriving in the new versions. Haven't tried the mentioned by you version yet so I can't say if it reverts back to CE on my end too.
      Thanks for sharing this!

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 6 lety

      Hi Hasham, the only negative side of the fake gps will be how your phone treats the location. The drone uses its own gps module to locate coordinates. It will disturb google maps, for example :D But your RTH and take off locations will be fine. Overall it is better to switch it off, because it unnecessarily confuses your smartphone.

  • @jasondonavich2758
    @jasondonavich2758 Před 2 lety

    Its crazy to think that when in CE mode the max distance advertised by DJI is only 2000m in perfect condition but FCC mode is 4000m in the same condition... with spoofing the gps wont this take away gps map functioanlity due to the maps thining we are in another country or doe it just spoof the controller rather than out phones gps?

    • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 2 lety

      It is not crazy, but logical - based on the maximum allowed radio transmission power in different regions.
      Spoofing the GPS is happening on the phone, not the drone; So RTH works fine.

So I used this android hack, on the wife’s phone, and took the Spark out yesterday. The drone flew well over 1KM, without a single issue in range, or feed, I love this hack. • @TechMishka
      @TechMishka  Před 6 lety +1

      Warm greetings to Brazil! :-)
      The return to home function will remain unaffected. When you enable the fake GPS app, it tells the transmitter "Hey, we are in USA, so let's switch to FCC mode". It doesn't directly talk to the drone. The return to home function is based on the GPS that is embedded on the drone itself, so it won't fly away :-) As you can see I have tested DJI spark in FCC mode while I am in Europe and it returned home safe and sound :-)

    New subscriber here. Sorry if this has already been asked, but once you're in FCC mode, can you use the map while flying so you know where your drone is? Do you turn the Fake GPS off once you're in FCC mode? Thanks.

      @TechMishka  Před 5 lety +1

      Questions here are always welcome!
      After you are in FCC mode, you can uninstall the app - it is no longer needed. ANd it is only used to trick the transmitter - the drone and its GPS work as normal and everything continues as normal. RTH also works without change.

The trick is to use any android device, follow the steps to trick the transmitter hence switch to fcc then use your everyday iPhone for the drone and press cancel at every launch of dji app. In my case the gain seems good enough although I d say still far from my magic pro (ce). Hi. I tried this tutorial on my P3SE because DJI App 3.1.23 always crashes on my phone (Galaxy S8). Unfortunately then another problem came up. I changed my location to US with Fake GPS and got 11 channels but as soon as I connect my phone to the transmitter and the drone, the location sets back to Europe and 13 channels. It seems as the app checks location data not only from the phone but also from the drone and resets to Europe whenever I connect my phone to drone and transmitter. The app does not ask me if I want to change WiFi settings at all. Anyone else having this issue? Is there any fix or workaround? ~Jules

      Depends on the area where you are flying at. I usually fly in the 5.8Ghz range, but for some people 2.4 feels better - these radio signals depend on altitude, surrounding buildings, area positioning and plenty of others - so the best thing to do is to try a few different modes.
      But once you get into FCC you will likely not need any adjustments :-)

    I can confirm that on iOS, you can change your phone's location if debugging an app with Xcode and simulate location. Be sure that network debugging is on so that you debug the app (whatever the app is, doesn't matter, a new clean project is fine too) wirelessly so that you can use USB to attach to the Mavic's remote. That was great however if your air gets lost when using this work around and you are on the refresh gji scheme I doubt they will pay out. Just a thought.

      I don't remember having seen any logs about FCC/CE mode in the log files they usually ask for. Therefore I believe there will be no issues with taking advantage of the refresh program.

      It works fine - the Home Point is based on measuring from the GPS inside the drone.

    So this mod is only for those living outside the u.s.? I live in the U.S. and my signal still sucks.

      Correct - being in the USA is going to keep you at higher transmission rate, so the mod won't really help you.
      Do you fly in a city? I have never had issues with coverage, especially outside urban places.
      Try to manually select 5.8G channel. Usually there is less interference at 5.8G
