Seeing the pictures of Fontaine and Nueyev together again made me realize what glamorous pairing they were. That doesn't seem that long ago, though a couple of generations have passed since they made headlines in the papers.

@@PamBoehmeSimon Amazing the conflicting emotions he seems to stir in people. As time passed I seem to appreciate him more and more. He did bring ballet to a wider audience and that is good.

The instrument being played sounds like the bandura ..a Ukrainian 55 string instrument..as I was walking down the street in wellington..yrs ago a man was walking towards me..as he walked by our eyes met it was Rudolf Nureyev ...just found out we share same birth sign ...pisces ♓ ..we both felt the connection...one in a billion chance..

And perhaps you ought to be tad grateful that one in seven Russians died to save Europe. Not only that their lands, houses, etc were laid to rest - an area the size of the American West Coast to Chicago. So perhaps just perhaps you should take a very hard look in the mirror before you share such pithy sentiments.
And lest we forget although they entertained the West with their remarkable performances - look how the West finally treated them. Neither had glorious endings.
