@Lindildë Ev thank you🌹... As an American, I am utilizing a high form of respect with the term "Miss". Additionally, as a devout Catholic, I am often remembering her even now in devotions through which she probably gains more honor in Heaven (Holy Mass and daily prayer)- than anything else that I could offer on her behalf. Back here again. I love everything about this performance. The understatement, but so technically correct, the lack of pretension, the beautiful line of each, how they mirror their port de bras, head movements. The lovely use of hands by Fonteyn. How one is drawn into the performance, and feels part of the tragedy. Glorious.
Это настолько прекрасно!!! Каждый жест пронизан чувствами... Вершина балетного искусства, надеюсь что это увидят и другие поколения землян и они как и я окунутся в это волшебство!!!
God bless you for finding and uploading this whole clip! Even 50+ years later, they are still so beautiful and heart breaking in this pas de deux. I don't care if their technique is dated. They're so musical. Their lines are pure. And you can just feel the love between the two!
I so enjoyed this clip. I first saw Margot Fonteyn when I was 15 , and saw her several times when I could. She was exquisite. I last saw her towards the end of her dancing career. I saw her dance with Rudolf Nureyev. I am now 81and can still remember all the occasions. I still have the very first programme. Such wonderful memories
Her arms drift as if underwater. I was privileged to see them at this date. I have always found Nureyev/Albrecht’s entrance with the lilies to be one of the greatest moments of all ballet.
Technique may have surpassed these 2 icons, but their artistry is still one to still be observed as this is the saddest goodbye of all Giselle ballets I have seen. As Giselle's spirit fades in the daylight he holds her and carries her away from her grave. Then, a one last effort to feel at least her hand...knowing that this is it....they must part.
The most iconic couple that danced Gisèle. If the technic is dated, the interpretation is absolutly stunning. 50 years don't alter the beauty of the dancing. TY.
Dated? I think not. Does that mean "less than?" The steps are the same, the interpretation of those has changed, not for the better, in my opinion. Glad you appreciated the consummate artistry of this performance!
