the " NOT READY " status on your emissions report simply means the system has not yet completed a self diagnostic yet. some of the checks require several miles of driving and/or under certain conditions, if you had disconnected the battery etc recently (losing power to the ECM) that would cause this scenario. It may not necessarily be your Pulsar. .
As a casual buyer , I traded my 2021 accord sport to Carvana for a 2021 Silverado rst because of Hondas issues and I liked the v8 power and unaware of this lifter problem till yesterday when I started getting the knock . Just wanted a reliable vehicle but now I’m stuck with GM,s silent thorn that got me unawares. After GM repairs all my lifters, I plan on getting the Pulsar after the warranty. I now can’t honestly trade it back to Carvana because of this defect, even w only 4500 miles, so I’m stuck with this unreliable but beautiful truck. BTW we lived in Kona 16 years then transferred to Denton , which looks like your neighborhood maybe Justin. Now in Florida with no vehicle inspection! Thanks for the information on your videos!
Pulsar does nothing to stop the lifters issue. The issue is with the design of the pushrods not with the programming of the DFM. Whether you have DFM enabled/disabled the pushrods can still get bent out of shape. It is honestly a “luck of the draw” situation. I have a 2021 Trail Boss, just passed 10k miles and have not had the issue. I also have been running with DFM enabled the entire time. Most say if you pass 10k without the issue then it is unlikely you will see it but I guess I’ll find out.
You scared me for a min on the Pulsar LT.. lol. I’ve had mine for a little over a year now and still love it, would 100 times buy it again. Lucky for me I live in TN were we have no state inspections.
I was looking into getting that same system for my 19 GMC Sierra Denali w/6.2L until they wouldn't sell it to me as I live in southern CA. These units are "Not" CARB legal here and this might be the reason for it. Passing emissions laws here is nutz to say the very least so the CA smog police don't like us doing anything to our newer vehicles that might make them better, more powerful, get better mpg, etc. Yeah, kind of wish CA would let a lot of these little mods go as getting your engine to run right and the way you want is kind of important to most of us gear heads. Having power and a good sound from your vehicle make the right foot and ear holes happy.
New subscriber here from Australia for sure. Just ordered a new 6.2 LTZ Z71 1500. They are uncommon and crazy expensive here in Aus, especially because they need a right hand drive conversion. Ive been glued to your channel for 3 days. Great content.
Sup bro! Great video as always, I had the same one in my 19 Silverado and never had that issue with inspections, I did have one check engine light for not receiving proper ground to an injector but after speaking to superchip and my local dealership shop foreman which is a friend of mine he told me just to disconnect the pulsar for 20-30 min and reinstall, after doing that all went back to normal. I also think that whoever did your inspection kinda did you wrong 🤷🏻♂️, well you already took it off just get the inspection and put it back on. Hope your issue gets resolved! Lmk if you need help, I live in Laredo but I’m more than happy to bounce ideas back in forth
I bought a 2021 trail boss without start stopping. Heated seats and steering wheel heated mirrors that was it for options bought it gently used with 39000 miles on it with no start stop the more options you have the more complicated it is keeping it simple is sometimes better to much technology doesn't always work.
same here. got a 21 trail boss 5.3 made in july of 2021 and it does not have Auto Start/Stop from the chip shortage. Glad I didn't have it from the get go.
I have a 2016 F165. No I did not type that wrong. It's a F150 with a 2.7 ecoboost aka a 165 cuin twin turbo v6. I used HP Tuner to raise my top speed limiter from 104 mph to 120 mph. For some reason the stop/start only work about 3% of the time now.
Idk where you are in Texas but JSR tuning in Hazlet can tune any GM. I used him for my Camaro and never had a single issue. He can deactivate your AFM, auto start/stop, throttle, everything you said, and all for $300. So it’s cheaper than a plug and play, and you’ll pass inspection with zero issues.
You don’t really have to take it off the truck you can just go to a different county where they only do safety inspections. I was an inspector for a year and told everyone that failed and couldn’t get it fix or what you have. To just go to a different county to get I done. It don’t matter where you go in Texas. As long as it’s a Texas inspection you can get it anywhere
I didnt know it retained all prior information because I was told by range tech that the system will reset once removed and reinstalled. Thanks for the tip
I was told the same exact thing by edge Products tech support. that it resets itself once it's unplugged. great thing about it I won't need the instructions to reprogram it.
@@loganbowen6421 good to know. Taking my truck in at 40,000 miles and having a transmission oil change, I will have to disconnect it just in case they have to do any reprogramming of the transmission module.

Glad my 2022 TB 6.2l didn't come with the AFM or auto stop/ start. Only time I unhook my pulsar lt is to get it serviced at the dealership. We don't have those emissions test here in Ohio.
I am a resident in Texas and have used numerous locations to do the inspection... never have they used the OBD2 port. Just a safety inspection/walk around.
I have the Pulsar on my 6.2, and thankfully I do not have to get it inspected. I thought it caused the truck to have a major failure. Glad it was only an inspection issue...
You might be able to disable AFM/DFM completely stock. I had a range disabler on my 2016 Silverado 5.3 and it failed emissions, saying emissions monitoring was not ready. After searching the web I discovered that if you put the truck in M5 it will not allow AFM to engage. It allowed emissions monitoring to work and I passed inspection. You might be able to put your truck in M8 or M9 and see if your truck does the same thing.
@@moneymattersmastery55897 shifting to M5 method is a quick and easy method for those who already have an AFM disabler. No need for 6th gear when driving to the inspection station lol.

I live in Texas and have never had them touch my OB2 sensor. The entire inspection is conducted outside of my truck. That’s weird that they did that to your truck.
If you ever have business around college Station they don't check your OBD2 port they literally hop in check all the lights and then leave also typically if you have something wrong no matter what it is if you give him a $2 tip they will let you pass it's an unspoken rule

A few months ago, I bought a brand-new 2022 GMC Sierra Limited AT4. I found a cold air intake system that was carb compliant for California; I was going to order a K&N intake system, but they wouldn't ship it to California, so I was going to have it shipped to my brother and have him pay for I can't even pay for if I have an address in California, I was going to do that until I found the cold air intake system I installed I live in a county that doesn't require smog checks.
I appreciate the support! I don't review cleaning products necessarily as they all typically do the same thing. It's the coating/correcting/ceramic after cleaning is what really matters.
Now it all makes sense. I noticed the communication discrepancy between Onstar and my truck (Kristine). Onstar does monthly system checks and resulted in error in downloading the required information. I did reach out to range technologies and was told they would look into it. I just surpassed 1950 engine hours without a single engine issue and have increaded my MPG to about 22mpg (hwy). Fortunately for me, i live in a AZ county that doens't require a vehicle inspection, so no need to remove the Pulsar LT at the moment.

You'd think Texas of all places wouldn't require an inspection. As for DFM, they figured out what the issues was with the previous versions and they fixed it since then.
I bought my husband the 200 dollar pulsar that is only for dfm. I just got it last month for upcoming fathers day. Do you think this model has been fixed? Im in vegas we do smog test yearly.
Hey, love your channel and i have learned a lot. I dont have the pulsar yet but i have pulled my 2 fuses under the hood in the fuse box. They are marked AFM but i think its for the DFM. I cant wait to get the pulsar but just have family things im working on right now. Any way have a great day. If you have any questions just ask me.
In CA you wouldn’t need a smog inspection til 2028. There are no mechanical inspections ever. That and the weather is about the only good thing we still have going😝
I would not be surprised if you failed from the CAI. I am not sure about that brand but these trucks do not like certain CAIs due to mis-calibration of the MAF sensor. Made my 6.2 considerably slower.
The Bully dog GT tuner does all that and more and I just passed inspection with it on the same truck also have a muffler delete straight cat's maybe that information will be helpful for you.
Bummer you didn't know that, I knew I was going to have to remove it before I take it to the smog station in California. somewhere in the instructions it says you need to remove it when you take it in the dealership because if they plug into the USB port it shows that there is something already plugged and it must be removed before they can proceed or reprogram anything. so I had called up edge products talk to one of their technicians and asked him about that too when I take it to get it smogged and he said yes you will have to remove it.. no big deal it's pretty easy. Your title kind of makes you think otherwise, so is that called catfishing.LOL😂 well I was glad to hear that It wasn't a Pulsar LT failure that was that you didn't know that you had to remove it before you took it in to get it checked out. I live in California and this is an illegal modification kinda, it's not CARB approved for California but they cannot board my warranty for using it. let me ask you this, did you notice after you installed the Pulsar LT did your oil consumption go away because mine did. I do not understand why it's an illegal modification in California because it works awesome and like you I don't like that DFM technology. I checked with AAA and they said I don't get my truck smogged for 8 years I don't know if that's true September will be 3 years so we'll see what it says on my registration renewal. I'm looking forward to doing a one-year review on upholstery on my channel. I did do a 1400 mile MPG drive video and my miles are the same as they were with the DFM active on other long drives. so how does a dfm save you gas money I have no idea lose money with oil consumption half a quart every 6,000 miles over 200,000 mi that I plan on keeping this truck for sure adds up do a little chunk of change at $8 a quart. luckily for me I bought five years worth of oil. yeah it's crazy I know got it on sale couldn't pass it up.

Also I'm in Oklahoma where we have no inspections.

Texas tip - just find that mechanic that’ll “pass” you for 50 bucks 😅
if you put your truck in manual shift mode and leave it in 8th or 9th gear the transmission with shift through all gears like in drive but will not deactivate cylinders
I have the Pulsar LT and I also love it. I am fortunate the state I live in doesn't have inspection and emission testing.
Right there with you my state have that BS eiither.
I have a 2014 Prius that I’m still not required to inspect in Missouri. Less than ten years old. Will have to inspect in two years tho! But definitely getting the pulsar for my trail boss. Thanks for video!
My 2021 Silverado was ordered with OUT afm/dfm and here in Iowa I don’t have to worry about inspections.
Keep us up to date on your shop issues with your HOA. We bought 2 years ago and automatically eliminated homes with HOA's but I was in one in the past and it's navigable. You're also in a state where reasonable people are in greater supply
the " NOT READY " status on your emissions report simply means the system has not yet completed a self diagnostic yet. some of the checks require several miles of driving and/or under certain conditions, if you had disconnected the battery etc recently (losing power to the ECM) that would cause this scenario.
Lucky for me I live in TN were we have no state inspections.
best state
Live in Texas and we doint do that shit in San Antonio. All I do is pull up for inspection, they do lights and horn and small crap and I'm done.
I'm glad I live in San Antonio (Bexar county) because they don't do emissions testing here.
New subscriber here from Australia for sure. Just ordered a new 6.2 LTZ Z71 1500. They are uncommon and crazy expensive here in Aus, especially because they need a right hand drive conversion. Ive been glued to your channel for 3 days. Great content.
My inspection is due this month as well, also a Texas resident… so I’ll pull my pulsar off a few days before. Thanks for the heads up!
Makes me love my old cat eye even more.
I’m sure it says “off-road” or “track use only” somewhere in there. That covers them from these issues.
I just installed mine love it!!! Good thing here in Salem OR they don’t require me to pass any inspections!!!
They only check emissions in major cities in Texas. Not in rural areas or small cities like Amarillo. It's not required
You need a 3.0 Duramax truck! That engine is awesome.
Well I’ll keep this in mind when I gotta take mine out for inspection! Great video
That was the goal with this one. Thanks for watching!
Where is he located in Haslet?
Thanks for letting us know I don't live too far from you and I guess I will have to remove mine when I get my inspection done next year
You don’t really have to take it off the truck you can just go to a different county where they only do safety inspections. I was an inspector for a year and told everyone that failed and couldn’t get it fix or what you have. To just go to a different county to get I done. It don’t matter where you go in Texas. As long as it’s a Texas inspection you can get it anywhere
The nice thing about removing it and reinstalling is that the lt retains all of the settings it had prior to removal.
I didnt know it retained all prior information because I was told by range tech that the system will reset once removed and reinstalled. Thanks for the tip
I was told the same exact thing by edge Products tech support. that it resets itself once it's unplugged. great thing about it I won't need the instructions to reprogram it.
Mine did when I removed it before taking it to the dealership. Put it back after 2 weeks and it was still set to the same settings.
@@HowtowithPaulHenderson mine retained all the settings I had. Disconnected for 2 weeks.
@@loganbowen6421 good to know. Taking my truck in at 40,000 miles and having a transmission oil change, I will have to disconnect it just in case they have to do any reprogramming of the transmission module.
Been with you from the beginning my brother proud of ya and how the the CZcams family has grown and keep it up #bow ties
Should have got a deoblo tuner. Has way more options and it doesn't have to stay plugged in.
I have a 2022 Silverado trail boss with the 6.2 L in it and I’m running the pulsar chip and it runs fine never had an issue I put in taking borla exhaust on it and it does here to 60 in five seconds. No bullshit.
Salute , blessings. Sorry missing couple videos, been chasing warches on my Cummins dually.
Hey just wanted to drop you a line let you know I’ve been checking out your channel on and off for about a year now I really enjoy all the modifications you’re doing to your trail boss I just can’t afford To use some of the products you’re using it but anyway keep up all the hard work may you and your family be blessed have a wonderful day
Glad my 2022 TB 6.2l didn't come with the AFM or auto stop/ start. Only time I unhook my pulsar lt is to get it serviced at the dealership. We don't have those emissions test here in Ohio.
I am a resident in Texas and have used numerous locations to do the inspection... never have they used the OBD2 port. Just a safety inspection/walk around.
We have no inspections at all in Alabama so I’m good to go ! 🇺🇸🤘🏼
I have the Pulsar on my 6.2, and thankfully I do not have to get it inspected. I thought it caused the truck to have a major failure. Glad it was only an inspection issue...
Favorite person and Chanel on the CZcams keep up the great work🔥🔥🔥
I appreciate it!
Until you need 6th gear. You can easily disable it with hptuners and pass an inspection, as well as turn off all the CEL for emissions BS.
@@moneymattersmastery55897 shifting to M5 method is a quick and easy method for those who already have an AFM disabler. No need for 6th gear when driving to the inspection station lol.
Has your range disabler caused your truck to have any problems other than the emissions? How long have you had the range disabler?
@@arnoldmartinez5742i have one and I have not had any issues other than it doesn’t always work for me. I have an exhaust so I can hear it and see it on my rpm needle. Removing it after shutting the truck off when I stop for gas or whatever and re-inserting seems to help but that gets old very quick.
As soon as you unplug it everything shows working as intended. It's immediate. No need to drive it around.
I live in Texas and have never had them touch my OB2 sensor. The entire inspection is conducted outside of my truck. That’s weird that they did that to your truck.
You just made me comfortable to put my pulsar lt on my 6.2 Silverado! Thanks bro you got another follower! Well done
I installed the pulsar on my 21 trail boss with the 5.3 and just had it inspected and it passed with no issues. I am in NY.
Great video as always! God bless you and the family 🤙🏼
If you ever have business around college Station they don't check your OBD2 port they literally hop in check all the lights and then leave also typically if you have something wrong no matter what it is if you give him a $2 tip they will let you pass it's an unspoken rule
I got to say the thing I like most on your truck is the steps
I’ve never had to do this in Texas. Literally drive to a shop, hand a dude money and he looks at lights/horn and that’s it.
I need this dude.
@@LonestarHawaiian come on down to New Braunfels!
as long as the shop is connected to the house with say a covered walkway from house to shop the HOA cant stop you
it is considered an addition
Great video!! I was actually about to buy myself one here soon, thanks for the heads up!!
I learned from failing an inspection with my 2015 suburban that I had to take out my range afm disabler , reset and run through a drive cycle to pass inspection. You can do a drive cycle in 15 - 20 mins if you know the protocols
What is or where can I find the protocols?
Aloha Hawaiian awesome video as well as the knowledge and a whole lot of info that comes with it appreciate you my braddah 🤙🏽🤙🏽
Shootz! Great videos as always! The fam and I are big fans! Do you ever review cleaning products? Or what you might use? i.e.-tips/tricks? Mahalo!
I appreciate the support! I don't review cleaning products necessarily as they all typically do the same thing. It's the coating/correcting/ceramic after cleaning is what really matters.
@@LonestarHawaiian you definitely have our support! Mahalo!
I’m sorry you live in one of the few places in Texas that requires emission checks.
Which county in az if you don’t mind me asking? I’m in Maricopa and unfortunately we do have inspections
@@WhitePony92 I live in cochise County. And my truck did fail (#8 lifter and camshaft) with the Pulsar LT installed. Had to remove it before I took my truck to the dealership
@@vcastilloaz thanks for the heads up! I just got the pulsar lt. Now I know I have to remove it for any dealership service. Would you know if we have to remove it for emissions testing as well?
@@WhitePony92 yes remove it for emissions test.. My OnStar has trouble communicating with my truck with the Pulsar LT installed as well.
In Tennessee we have no inspection, thank goodness!
I love my Pulsar LT on my 8spd Elevation. I had weird vibrations in my truck until I put this in it.
I would love to see you do a video on seeing if it turns off the DFM. You have the cameras to do it plus the exhaust. I think it would be a cool video.
Thanks for showing the sound of the DFM. It sounds terrible. I just ordered a Pulsar LT
BANKS pedal monster and BANKS auto mind 2 will do the same thing, plus easy going back to stock in 3 minutes.
The Bully dog GT tuner does all that and more and I just passed inspection with it on the same truck also have a muffler delete straight cat's maybe that information will be helpful for you.
i dislike the cyl management and hate autostart but the different exhaust tones are no big deal.
Thank God no emissions checks in Hawaii
My inspector dont give no fks lol 😆 he just gives me the paper 🤣
I have a pulsar lt on my 2020 gmc 1500 5.3 10 speed . Still have stock exhaust. I can average right at 20 mpg. I also have an auto- stop Eliminator that works great when not using the Pulsar Lt.
Only problem I have is it messes with the Sirius radio sometimes. I have to unhook it then drive a bit and hook the Pulsar Lt back up. Someday I may do an small exhust up grade. Also I'm in Oklahoma where we have no inspections.
Go catless, + 5 hp
@Wildbaren I didn't add the Pulsar Lt for hp gain. Plus, I don't believe 5hp would be a game changer.
@@jojojack4975 it takes a lil weight off of the truck. Every lb less counts if you tryna go faster
@Wildbaren If I wanted to go faster I wouldn't have purchased a 5.3. Besides, I could just do some cat backs and accomplish about the same without making my vehicle illegal.

I installed the Pulsar LT on my 2019 Silverado. I love it. I did remove it when I took my truck to Chevrolet dealer about an issue with transmission shifting. Long story short, the dealer replaced my torque converter under warranty. Now I am getting a P0498 Code EVAP System Vent Valve Control Circuit Low. I did find a vacuum line disconnected from the air box and plugged it back up. Now I can clear the code but it keeps coming back. Do you think the Pulsar LT could be affecting the EVAP System? Just a thought.
By the way, Love you videos. Keep it up
