  • Check out my review of the Suzuki V-Strom 1000 XT (2017) - made possible by Motoport Zelhem www.motoportze...
    I had the opportunity to ride the V-Strom 1000 XT 2017 (DL1000 XT). I really wanted to compare this awesome twin to the Honda Africa Twin which I have reviewed a few months ago. Check out what I think of this V-Strom 1000 XT! I recorded my ride with high quality sound. Enjoy! :-)
    Link to the Africa Twin review: • Honda Africa Twin Akra...
    Conclusion: I can get used to riding adventure motorcycles! I'm still not a fan of the looks, but the handling of this DL1000XT is fantastic. It feels like you are 100% in control of this machine, and it is a lot of fun to ride. I would go for the Africa Twin, because the looks, and the extra dimension the automatic shifting system brings to it. The S3 mode worked for me.

    cool video different perspective on the vstrom, I have found where they really shine is on small bumpy back lanes with gravel etc.. I have firmed up the rebound and taken the compression damping softer in the front and found it great for the UK small country lanes.. I can imagine that on perfect smooth tarmac it is a little boring however as a back to back comparison with other bikes it is interesting, however where the Suzuki really shines is the value for money, nowhere else can you get so much bike for the money! great bike in my opinion! thanks for the video!

      Hey man, thanks! Which tires do you have for that preferred riding style/environment? I can imagine that it does the job pretty well on these roads. Rushing through tight corners on small roads really did feel great! Cheers

    • @Anxiousb
      @Anxiousb Před 7 lety +3

      Gareth Millar i put anakee 3's on mine. super for on road. blows the stock BW away. made it a different bike. have not tested them off road yet but for my riding style im glad i made the switch. +1 on the bang for the buck evaluation. folks on youtube and what not can do all the comparisons they want but when you factor price in, there is NO better machine 😁

    • @PnPModular
      @PnPModular Před 7 lety

      thanks for the reply Alan.. I must say that the Anakee 3 have been high on my list.. I want tyres that will still clear dig gravel etc but also give great grip especially in wet conditions... how are they in the wet? I must say that I after a long period of sunny weather the rain came and the roads were incredibly greasy.. the stock BWs were sketchy to say the least. back tyre was hopping about over metal covers etc... I softened the rear rebound as I think I was pushing the rear tyre too much..

    • @Anxiousb
      @Anxiousb Před 7 lety +2

      Gareth Millar they hook up great in the wet. again, a big improvment over the stock BW.

    V strom all the way. Everything is proven 100% made in Japan quality. Bulletproof motor, supple ride, perfect ergonomics and a reputation for reliability. Honda looks great but big front wheel less good on the road, and tubed tyres massive disadvantage for road riders. The Suzuki is a gem, test ride one and see. This isn't just a "utility" bike, it's a genuine all rounder that can do absolutely anything.

    I think these mirrors we see in VStrom are not original. The original mirrors are square and larger. Some people say they are ugly, but they are the best in motorbikes, because they allow a better vision behind the biker. This windshield is not original either. And it may be a problem in rainy days because the vision will be certainly impaired. VStrom is a wonderful bike for long trips. I love it.

      Hey man. Pff... I've already had a lot of discussions about this in other video's. I don't agree.
      1: this is a typical strategy from the manufacturers the biggest chance they can, to have no issues within the warranty-period.
      2: as long as the engine is hot it's not a big issue

    The exhaust is an upgrade for sure, but I'd focus on actual performance/size/weight if I was going to do anything to the exhaust. I'd throw away the stock header system, with the powervalve (emissions restriction), pop in an Arrow header, matted with a Two Bros or some other pipe that's smaller diameter without being excessively loud.

    Ik vind ze allebei heel erg mooi. Ik had een Vstrom en aangepakt door Pajic in Gendringen met dubbele MIVV uitlaat. Dat was een beest. Nieuwe Vstrom reed in mijn beleving veel te tam met euro4. Kan zijn dat de TC ingeschakeld stond. Vwb de Honda geen ervaring mee. Maar als ik hem wil dan zonder DCT en zonder die Akra. Die zag er niet uit. Klonk wel mooi BTW.

    • @TheNiekoss
      @TheNiekoss  Před 6 lety

      +Vincent Feldkamp vond de akra ook niet mooi idd op de africa twin, klonk wel goed! Trouwens dat DCT was zo veel leuker dan ik had verwacht! Juist een extra dimensie ofzo terwijl ik dacht dat het super suf zou zijn zon automaatje. Ik heb aardig wat comments gehad waarbij men aangaf dat ik op de vstrom meer toeren moet maken om de torque te voelen. Heb jij dat gedaan bij jouw ritje?

      @TheNiekoss  Před 7 lety

      +Twil Hey! Yes I was thinking about that! What do you think of the akra? Is there a big difference with the stock exhaust you have and the sound in the video of the akra? I dont believe its euro4 :) but i'll check! Is it important for you that it is? Are you considering another exhaust?

    • @sv7017
      @sv7017 Před 7 lety

      It is a huge difference i think. The stock exhaust is way to stuffed and i think all the time i have to free that damn sound. I posted your video in a german VStrom forum and everyone is sure that´s a Euro 3 exhaust. So not that legal, but who cares.

    nice Vid! Love the vstrom..I'm thinking about getting that bike because of the torque and tall gearing. I had a Yam FJ 09 and it was too high rpm all the time on highway and too much shifting in town..and a governor at 115mph..

    I own the old 2007 V-Strom 650 ABS. I once tried the AT in the garage changing my tyres, and I found it boring, although it was a nice well paved curvy road along the "Aff" river. I didn't feel the power gain compared to my 67bhp Suz'. And I disliked the DTC, only usable in sports mode. Now I'm sparing money to change my old owl for the DL1000, in standard version.

Maybe I'll rent this or another adventure model and go for a off-road weekend-trip somewhere. Did you ever think about something like the 690 enduro? You are right it's fast. I've had plenty of comments already suggesting me to ride it in higher revs. I did take it in higher revs a couple of times (as you can see in this vid) but sure, I wasn't constantly pulling it in the near-red zone. I think it has more to do with the way this motorcycle made ME feel, and then specs are a whole different thing than true riding experience where exhaust sound, engine sound, behavior of suspension etc are all part of the 'speed sensation'. Anyway! Thanks for your comment, cheers man
