Sand paper usually does the trick
Wont that ruin it?
you really think hes being serious?@@itsmiltonl1296
@@itsmiltonl1296not if you use 120 grit
@@itsmiltonl1296 no it wont, try it!
I think only ones that collect c(rap) "music" records will be dumb enough to fall for this.
1. Clean one side.
2. Switch the sides
3. Let clean side absorb all dirt from platter
Isn't that the same if you cleaned it using a cleaning machine? the same thing would happen no? so fail to see your point. This is more than fine for a maintenance clean
@@gaza4543 This cleaning process always fails if you have to place clean side on dirty platter.
There are systems available so you clean both sides simultaneously (ultrasound cleaners for instance) so the cleaned surface does not touch dirt parts anymore.
Clean the platter then?
Talked to my local records dealer the other after picking up a new micro brush. He said to clean from the inside-out.
No, no, no. You have to clean from the inside out. 😉
when i clean from the inside out, i build up a lot of static and can see the fibers of the brush reaching out, but if i go from the outside in the moment i hit the center metal piece it discharges the static
@@subadanus6310 but you're spreading the dirt to the rest of the record. Whereas from the inside, out, you take the dirt off the record. Your records might not have any static, but they're dirty
@@davidthom7127 i'm spreading the dirt to the piece of paper in the center, i'm cool with that
wrong. from the edge to the center
@@03taru 🤣
My stupid ass sprayed it on the actual vinyl
Me too that’s what my kit said
I’m pretty sure that is what mine said but he says different
Mine says the same lol?? So confused @@chexmax3647
I cover the record like I'm spray painting
You've just opened a giant rabbit hole!
This is fine for vinyl already in good condition. For the dollar bin finds, don’t be afraid to use soapy hot water (Dawn) and a soft cloth. It can take a good scrubbing going with the grooves. Vinyl is plastic! Run under clean water to rinse, avoiding the paper inner label. Dry with soft cloth in the direction of the grooves. Then crank it up!
Brushing from outside-in just leaves a lot of dust on my records. The groove alignment light helps a lot at identifying dust on the record IMO.
People are being silly on the thread. Dust and dirt are a much bigger issue than static. You clean inside out to get them OFF the record, doing it as the video suggests literally only collects it in the center and with any faint wind from lifting the cover your record will get dirty all over again because all the junk is in the middle.
If people are having more trouble with static versus dust and dirt (highly unlikely) then they should use an acrylic platter. Static is less “on the record” issue than a turntable itself problem.
Hi recommend to use a microfiber cloth to dry the disk way faster before the cleaning. And then use the carbon fiber brush, because you need a dry record to use that brush
I go inside out with the anti static brush. Im probably going to vinyl hell
Ah, that's the old school way. Cecil E. Watts used to sell a 2in1 product called Parastat, with the two brushes that you're using in the video and a special cleaning solution to go with it.
I just dip mine in acetone.
😂
Like the kind used to remove fingernail polish? And 100%?
Don't forget to wear your safety goglies and rubbly gluvs
Thanks mate! 🤘🏼
Totally not an ad for that cleaning solution. 😐
you should go from inside to outer edge when cleaning so your dust gets removed from the record and not smashed into the grooves.
then go outside in with anti-static hitting the metal spindle last to ground.
U do that for cds not for records I thought
Great! Just buy all the promoted items that you see in the video!
Been doing this every time I buy a vinyl. Then I had friend tell me I didn’t have to do that 💀
Often new Vinyl is dirty from the factory so it's a good idea
You don't buy a vinyl you buy a record.
Your friend is a dummy in this case compadre.
@@djdj500dr?
How often should you clean it
You need to rinse the record with distilled water after using cleaning solution, otherwise you get residue
I went and bought black Friday price Project machine..although I have 500 lps, eps. Very effective. I just use carbon brush every play and re project clean every 5. Extreme .but bloody good.
I just throw mine like it’s a frisbee
Wrong! Always use the DRY device/pad first! By wetting the pad you’ve just made sure that some of the dirt you’re trying to remove will stick to the vinyl. Only after a thorough dry cleaning should a record cleaning liquid be introduced. This method has always been known as the best way to start a deep clean of vinyl as opposed to creating mud that puddles in the groove space. Changing the paper sleeves to non static sleeves is another way of reducing dirt accumulation. A very inexpensive aid found online. (Sold by Amazon and others in packs of 20 or more)
How do I clean my 8 tracks
Excellent sir
Ironically my “God is Good” vinyl needs a good cleaning haha, just like the one in the background there
How do u clean the brush lol
Anti-static brushes scratch the vinyl
Make a video about warped records. I have one and it's unplayable.. 😔
I only dry clean with anti static brush
“How to clean vinyl records:
Step 1: clean them”
Can i use a fabric cloth instead of a brush
Whenever i do this i always seem to have leftover dust.
Nice
Cool
That's one way to clean. I clean mine away from a turntable. Turntables play records.
Dishwasher always works for me
😂😂😂
How much does that record player costs?
I think it should be starting dry with the anti static brush first. It will comb and bring out dust in the groves. Then step 2 would be to use the velvet brush on a flat anti static cloth surface. You can favor the record slightly over the edge of a table all the dust will fall to the ground, not transfer to the other side. Flip and repeat. I think using spray first is a mistake that will just make mud that will lodge itself into your grooves. Dry brush first, then damp velvet after.
how long should i let the record dry after using the cleaning brush
Coolllll
Lol ill just use my fancy okii nokii machine cleaner lol
Can I use a microfiber cloth?
I think you forgot the sandpaper
Hello what is the best fully automatic turntable under £500. Plus are auto changer record players like the older box type dansette record players a definite "no no" to use??
Bro just get a 1210 gawd damn😂😂😂😂
me: i'll use some water and my fingers (and some microfiber cloth
I tried to clean a Record that has been looping at one part and I was terrified to learn it didn't fix it , funny that the record doesn't look scratched , don't know if I should just throw it in the trash. My heart kinda broke cuz it's a rare record
Should always use the brush first so you're not jamming dust into the grooves.
Those brush cleaners and fluid were discredited 30 years ago.
I have a phonograph but 1998 but middle rod missing
Don't listen to this man, he's lying! I've tried this method, but afterwards there still was music on the record! This is not a good method for cleaning and wiping your music records!
Ikr! Ugh! Its so hard to get the music off, but what i found is that you can use some steel wool to remove the music, just rub it against your record in the opposite way of the grooves 👍
@@Chaotic_Observer oh, thank you! Now I can finally clean my one of a kind Sadness Will Prevail vinyl!
@@JeanMarceaux no prob fam! I just did it to my newest over the garden wall vinyl :)
How often would I have to clean my records? Every use? Every day?
As far as using a solution, I don't know. I do mine like once a month. But I do wipe them with a vinyl brush before every play.
Honestly depends on a lot of factors like how dusty your place is and even the type of sleeves your keeping them im, if you got some nice anti static sleeves and all that probably every other month
Use wet wipes there great use them when i really need to,if there really dirty and condition of the record in the original state of it like scratches etc,if its new why would you do this unless dusty etc, etc. This is a video upload to help you hes making money, getting views also getting our attention and comments CZcams is so dogshit why do i use it really i question myself good luck cleaning 😀
Brillo pads
Which solution one should use ? Is petrol or kerosene safe to clean vinyl ? Have any idea anyone ?
You will get best results by holding the record under a warm bath shower. Not too warm, not too cold. And ensure your local supply water is hard enough. The hardness of the water will wipe away most of the dust because chalk´s molecule structure perfectly adheres to any dust of the world. After the drying process, the remaining micro-dust will be attached to the limescale covering both sides of your record. So finally blow gently once or twice over each side of the record: done! All the dust will be down the drain.
Just stick a CD on and be done with it! 👍
There are many many many ways to clean records.
Vinyl expert here, This is incorrect 🤥☝🏼 could cause corntusion of the raised wiffs. I’d employ a softer more hands on Stan-method for cleaning my vinyls. This is child’s play, sorry to say!
Definately don't do that. Contains contaminates. Will further damage the vinyl. Omg do your research .
Wha
how often should you clean your records?
When you’re getting continuous skips and jumps and it’s not your stylus.
How often should you clean your records?
A little but late:
You should clean your records every time you want to hear them, but not all this process. You should only clean it with the carbon fiber brush from inside out and not like in the video.
Now if by some mistake or anything you touch the vinyl grooves with your fingers then you should do the complete process. If the vinyl is also quite dirty or has some sort of dust in it you should clean it too with the liquid and all.
Remember than it’s not only the record, but your needle also needs to be clean and there are many ways to do it, the two most common and easy are a little brush you can find on a cleaning kit or a “liquid” specifically for the needle where you drop it two times. If you search for it on yt you will find it with ease.
That solution leaves a white residue on the stylus... just use spin clean
I just use my shirt
I just use a CF brush before playing anything
So you clean your records more then you play them
This is more for dirty records you got from the drift shop. If you take good care of your records, a quick wipe with a velvet or carbon brush before play should be enough.
I find washing with a sponge and soapy water works better, but you do you.
Steel wool works the best for me
@@TheAboriginal1😂😂😂
Idk, i just dig my nail into the grooves and scoop the dirt out that way. Makes my vinyl sound kinda weird, but it helps to keep it clean!
Bro which turntable is that
AT-LP120X from what I can tell
IT'S AN AD!
Well how do I clean my shellac records?
@@qwertykeyboard5901 alright, can I take some?
What's the verdict on cleaners with alcohol? I know alcohol ruins 78s but I can't get a straight answer on other records. I currently use Sleeve City's Phoenix spray and it seems to work fine, doesn't seem to ruin anything.
its fine, any "plastic cleaner" will do as long as it doesn't leave a residue or is abrasive. There is nothing special about the plastic its just PVC that's right, the same as your windows.
I put them in the toilet and flush ten times while praying ❤
I still just clean it with a cotton cloth the way my grandparents showed me.
Tbf I still have records I got from them so I'm sure it's super harmful.
OKAY BUT WHAT ABOUT SCRATCHES?
Sorry bud but those are impossible to remove 💀
If i have a suitcase turntable i have to keep my turntable on without playing
This is not the record I’m trying to clean right now.🏃♂️💨
Air compressor
what record player is that
Audio Technica LP-120
Don't touch the grooves like this dude did
if you add solution over a dirty disc than you'll gonna make MUD . first, and always is a dry cleaning, after that you go and wash it, not how you say it...
I don't think so, Tim.
Only water and soap
if you are using one of the cheaper turntables made today, do not do this , you can ruin the bearing in tour turntable and have to buy another one.
I just clean it while it spins
Nah, wood glue does the trick.
Dry then wet
Lmao why would you collect all the dirt and dust on the label? Brush inside out to actually CLEAN it.
Just wipe it with your shirt and u good to go ffs 😂
90th
or use it or whatever
you dry clean before you wet clean...
Awful ; just look after your records and keep them clean . If you must buy used records find someone with a KMAL professional record cleaning machine , which is the ONLY one that wild it properly .
You'll spend more time playing than listening
Or just buy a really expensive VPI cleaning machine like myself. Nothing beats it
DO NOT DO THIS !!!
Why not?
@@GoneFishingAway Because all you are doing is pushing the dirt into a line and then dragging it around the record, which is not going to clean it, but is likely to cause damage if there is enough debris.
@@scrunts666 So then, what's the best method?
@@GoneFishingAway In my opinion the best method is ultrasonic. I admit that it does cost quite a lot but the difference, again in my opinion, is so much better. I had a Pro-ject vaccum cleaning machine and that was okay, but the hummingguru is the best as you do not touch the surface of the record, it just blasts off all the debris withoug it being dragged through the groove.
@@scrunts666 Is there any other better method that is budget friendly?
Alcohol and an allsop record cleaner.
I don't reccomend this type of cleaning method. Spin Clean is the way to go IMO.
nonononnonon
I thought records where simple
Damn there's wayyyyyyy to many people loading videos saying clean this way or that way pllleeaassee tell me what's the right way
I don't think there's a general best way to clean records, as long as you're careful and don't damage the grooves.
I for myself just remove dust from the record and then use the anti-static brush, spray the cleaning solution onto it and then carefully hold it onto the records, while it's rotating. After that it's perfect clean. Just my recommendation!
@Oellappen that's what I do I I clean the record than use anti static brush works well imo
I actually like and use Vinyl vac, i make my own record cleaning solution.
The right way is not to touch the record at all and ultrasonic like clean your record! I’ve tried everything out there, and once I got the ultrasonic machine, I hit the goldmine!!! You can see that video on my channel about the ultrasonic cleaner that I use and the method that I use.
@Prime Analog Records I use tip of finger on the center of record and thumb on outer edge when handling
So sad that people don’t know how to clean a record.
