    Great video, the fact that you were trying to picture what was going on in the house and on the property makes you a first class relic hunter. Not only are you after the goodies, but you are trying to get a feel of how life was back then and grasp a picture of their daily lives. Very comendable in my opinion. Keep up the good work! You have my respect.

    This video is great because it's not really all about finding a valuable coins but to understand what went on in that 30' circle. This is the reason I love digging. Great job on the video!

    Thanks Jack, I've been over that area of ground so many times with my detector, but was only able to pick up a signal on it, after digging it up and away from the iron that was probably masking it's signal.
    Some things so tiny, are overwhelmed by the Iron nearby .
    Hope you have a great weekend my friend, and waiting for the day you find a real buried Treasure Chest down were you hunt ... Pirates and everyone else passed through there back in the day .

    Great job with your theory on the 1700's coins, from the mound, and possibly where the mound came from. I believe your approach to the south side of house is very thorough Bill, I am learning as I watch you explore this site brother, Terry.

    Another great video Bill, particularly liked the talking about the history of the family that lived there and how your finds fitted into that time period.
    You definitely think like an archaeologist mate.

    Thanks for showing us all.

    @DigginAmerica  Před 11 lety

    Someone suggested due to the wear of the coins, they may well have been dropped in the 1800's, and I think he's right PB.
    And you are also correct about a second house on the site .
    The 1800's home was located about 50ft due east of the 1700's one in this video .
    All in all, it's going to take some time, but it's just great that I have the opportunity to hunt this untouched home site .
    Subbed you back my friend, and congratulations again on that "King George III".
    Good luck on your next hunt .

    My thoughts exactly Leon,
    I have gone to the Oldest Masonic Lodge in my area, expressly for that reason, but have found no one there.
    I'm going to try and contact them Online .
    I also want to make sure to post all developments, along with future progress on that most Historic of sites, which I believe has been sadly forgotten.
    I believe this place should become a National Landmark in regards to this Great family's contribution in the Revolutionary War.
    Their story is one of greatness .

  • @DigginAmerica
    @DigginAmerica  Před 11 lety

    Yes Christopher, the Iron definitely hides especially small targets ...
    But discriminating out the Iron, which I've tried so many times, still leaves the Iron blocking the much smaller better signal .
    I've gone over this mound so many times, but only when I dug that area of dirt up and away from the Iron, was I able to get a signal from that tiny Cuff Button .
    I'm hunting this specific area slower and more meticulously, and still learning how Iron can completely hide smaller treasures .
    Thanks

    As an idea on why that piece of the land has early 1700's coins: Maybe they had various houses on the property over the years, and that one was occupied in the early 1700's. Maybe it was buried later when the cellar was excavated.

  • @bkeene12
    @bkeene12 Před 8 lety

    The coins might of been there because someone liked the warm their pants in front of the fire. When they died, that practice stopped hence why their might be no other coins. Good vid.

    Many times masons would scratch the square and compass on bricks that were laid in the walls of old houses, usually around doorways where other masons could see them when visiting. These were crudely etched like your button.

    @DigginAmerica  Před 11 lety

    Hi ROLFCOPTERZZ,
    The cuff button, with it's crude engraving, looks to be from the 1700's.
    I'm thinking the Original Homesteader of that Site, back in the 1700's
    was a member of "The Order of the Free Masons" .
    Very probable, knowing that Family's History of involvement during The Revolutionary War .
    I'll be screening that mound of dirt in a couple of days for more, but the mosquitoes are in full force in that area now .
    Got to get some good repellent or I'm gonna get eaten alive .

It would be nice if you will contact the local Masonic lodge and offer the button to them. They would greatly appreciate adding it to their historical collection. If you know the original owners name they may be able to help with some info. Unless you are a Mason you will not understand the engravings on it. To be one ask one
