Love this!!
Best Strandberg string change I have seen. Thanks!
Very clear instructions thank you. Helpful as I just got my Boden Original 7 tonight and the strings needed to be changed (used guitar).
Thanks a Bazillion - incredibly helpful!!
Love the vid! Despite not having a strandberg it's still useful to me!👍
Tuning pegs. Thank you for these instructions. I plan to try a Strandberg tomorrow.
I remember watching you do a tutorial of this on an Instagram live. Great stuff keep the content coming!
Great stuff! I can't believe you don't have more subs. You're one of the best players out there.
I'm saving up for my first strandberg currently and I had a bunch of questions. These videos help a bunch!
I was worried about changing my own strings and was going to take it to a guitar tech to pay them but your video is giving me confidence to try it. I think I'm going to try after work I'll let you all know how it goes
This is awesome, can we get a video ons setting up a strandberg with a tremelo?
Step 1: get a strandberg :(
Look around for a used. Found mine for $800 on Facebook
It took me 2 years of saving but I finally got a Boden metal nx 8, keep working hard and trust me it’s worth every penny
I watched this as a decision maker for whether or not to buy a strandberg. A part of me was hoping that the process is way harder and more complicated. That part was disappointed. Now I guess there are not many reasons left to not buy one. Damn. :)
Bruh. Except that you're paying $2000+ dollars for a Cort made Indonesian guitar.
Not good
@@1337wafflezz obviously never played a Strandberg.
@@adamkozolka6981 you shouldn’t have to pay a lot for engineering principles and design. the materials and labor cost is probably not even 1/10th if what they sell the guitar for. it’s still cringe.
@@1337wafflezz hugely agree, I'd rather spend that cash towards a Kiesel or Ormsby if I wanted a headless in that price range
Honestly easier than restringing any other guitar. Only issue is it can be a little hard to trim the tips of the strings as low as I would like.
Please, is it possible to apply Drop D tunning in Strambergs?
Oh yes. Mine sits in drop d most of its life.
waiting for the trem version 🙏🏼
Hey man great video, quick question.
Can I use the 7 string strandberg dadarrio set on a regular guitar? I love the string gauges on them, they are perfect for my tuning.
Yes you can
Ended up with the end ball of the string sticking out through the tuner and i cannot turn the tuner enough to bring the string to pitch, what did I do wrong?
How do you get the dead skin and dirt off the bedspread?
Step 1: get a washing machine or go to a laundromat. Step 2: get some washing detergent. Step 3: take bedspread off the bed. Step 4: wash spread. Step 5: dry bedspread. Step 6: put it back on the bed. 21:55
and how it's done with a tremolo strandberg?
Filming soon! Cheers
Changing my strings on the strandy today. Been far too long at 3 months with at least 2 hours a day lol
And the standard strandberg pickups are amazing, I love them.
Objectively a good video, but you didn't address the one thing I was hoping to find out about.. Got my Strand today 2nd hand and it was in dire need of a clean (EGS Rev 5 tuners, fixed bridge/no trem), I removed all the tuner cylinders (not sure what to call that assembly but yeah, the tubes you run the strings through), I removed them completely to clean the hard-to-reach spots underneath, then reinstalled them, tightened up the little hex screw to fasten them but I noticed that the hole through which you put the screw to fasten the tuner tubes isn't a circle hole, it's a long slot meaning the tube can slide up and down until you fully tighten the screw. Didn't think much of it at first, just googled "strandberg bridge" to see up close what position they should be seated in, incidentally right in the centre of the bigger hole, meaning there's a gap on either side of the screw. Again didn't think too much of it, just tightened the screw to what felt like tight enough, but not so tight it would cause damage. Continued with stringing the guitar, only to find that under tension, it wouldn't hold a string in tune, it would rapidly drop off. I thought I was doing something wrong, until I realised what was happening was that as I increased tension, the entire tuning assembly/tube/cylinder was being pulled in towards the neck, evidently because of the fact that the screw hole is long, so all it took was some tension for the whole thing to get pulled in. So I don't get it, i mean I guess having a long hole means you can customise the scale length by +/- a centimetre, but 1) I don't really get the point, 2) I don't know what position to put it in and there is virtually NO info on this online, no restring guides cover it, even Ola Strandberg's deep-dive video on the EGS Rev 5 bridge/tuning system didn't talk about it, 3) logically the solution I think of is: ok, if the tuning tube/assembly is being pulled towards the tension of the string, well I'll just loosen the screw, manually slide it as far as it will go towards the neck, so that the actual far end of the screw hole prevents it from being pulled in once I increase tension again, but I don't know if that's a good, or correct solution?
I've been really at a loss since receiving it. I've had it for about 9 hours now and I've spent every hour since then working on trying to get it play-ready.. It arrived with terrible old strings so I spent only 5 mins getting a feel for it before diving into re-stringing, and I found that the tuning knobs were DESPERATELY in need of some fresh lubrication (Strandberg website recommends re-lubing periodically, I used sewing machine oil as I had some to hand and this is what was recommended) but I found no information at all on how to go about lubricating any of the hardware/screws/threads etc, in the end I just went by intuition and used a fine tip paint brush to apply a veeeery light coating of lube to the inside thread of the tuning knob. And once I had finished with that, on to the next problem: strings not holding tension because the tuning assembly gets displaced under tension etc etc..
I finally got it to hold a tune after a LOT of fiddling, and guess what? The action is abysmally high, so here we go again... I'm just now about to loosen aaaaall the strings again so I can adjust the action. Fun times. I just wanna play some metal on my new 8 string :( Oh yeah, she's an 8 string, and what does that mean??? 33% more work/time than a 6 string wooooo
ugh, it's 1am, I hope I get to play it at least a bit tonight. wish me luck... please...
Hey man, I read this and I think I know what you're referring to. The tuning screws have a slot in the at the bottom which needs to line up with the tiny screw underneath each bridge saddle. This allows the screw to move back and forth (tune) but also stops it rotating. If I haven't explained this well, contact strandberg support. They're really the best and they wouldn't want you in the dark about you new guitar! Best of luck.
@@ConnorKaminski hey thank you so so much for taking the time to help mate
Do you mean a little screw actually inside the tuning cylinder’s inner thread by any chance?
Nice guitar, but absurd string change..
Not really man
I was under the impression that you should never change all the strings at the same time, but rather do one by one. If you change all at the same time, it will change the tension on tremolo and you will need to adjust it back to where it was is the story I was told. Was that all fluff?
All fluff. If you block your trem, take all the strings off (and then put the same gauge back on), you're good to go as you're exerting the EXACT same string tension as before. Cheers!
Thank you for makimg this video it will help people who are changing strings for the first time on their Strandberg with a hardtail bridge. I love my Strandberg so much I have a boden metal 6 string neck thru in purple with Fishman Fluence Moderns.
one question: can you use other strings than the from d'addario designed ones for strandbergs? because i dont think that the 8 string one is gonna be thick enough for my tuning (drop d 8 string)
The short answer is yes, you can use other strings. Many do. Both of mine are six strings, so I can't provide specific suggestions. As a suggestion, if you have access to Facebook, you might consider joining the Strandberg Group. There's been a fair amount of discussion concerning 7 and 8 string Strandbergs and the strings people use. There are people there who can provide detailed (and specific) suggestions.
Tuning pegs bruv hahahahaha
You look a bit like george harrison
I am really shocked that a stringchange takes so much time! I thought at first sight, these Strandberg guitars need just double-ballend strings!!??? I can't believe that you need TOOLS for a stringchange... like on a shitty Floyd Rose...? I have a STEINBERGER from the 80s and a stingchange (including tuning!) WITHOUT needing any f****** tools, took in my best match less than two minutes!!! This is pure anachronism. By the way - I love the design of the Strandberg guitars very much - but needing a string cutter and two different allen keys, extra locking every single string... why? The Steinberger and maybe the Strandberg guitar you can take it as hand luggage in a aeroplane (Europe), but the string cutter can be used as a weapon, that's why it is forbidden to take within the hand luggage (I had once this problem carrying my western guitar by plane).
Two minutes and no tools... If I can have this on a Strandberg, I'll buy it.
