Bro wendy is better than webber in every way, farming spiders is faster and more efficient. and anyway, the damage penalty is not even a big deal since nightshade give abigail 40 damage at any time and a 40% damage boost to wendy while attacking the same target with abigail, competing with wolfgang in terms of damage on top of that she's the only character with AOE, also you can craft potions to suit your playstyle, (aaaand you can rush solo bee queen) i feel like she's underrated and not judged at her best

I know Wilson is supposed to be a starter character but it upsets me that Wilson is supposed to be a scientist yet has no perks related to them, it'd be cool if he could craft useful unique items (non necessary for noobs) that make him stronger in late game, that way hes still a good noob character, but can also get stronger in hands of good players
Yeah they kinda robbed him of that, since he was the first character he had to be the base line. They gave all the cool sciency stuff to Wagstaff which is unfortunate but at least we got a science guy on the list.
My hope is that they will rework him and give him an exclusive tab. It should be something balanced, so it wouldn't ruin the status of the middle tier character, maybe something that can work and be a little advantageous or blow up and waste resources randomly, so it wouldn't be reliable
My headcanon for wilson is that he was the first person to be dumped into the constant, so after that he obviously didnt really know what to do and just started doing S C I E N C E, alchemy engines, science machines, termometers, thermal stones and all that shit while researching the rules of the world, noting behavior of certain creatures etc and by the time more people got dumped he grew a beard and shared all his research because he wanted to make survival easier by teaming up with other, equally confused people

Wormwood is good if you know how to play him. Great suit makes best cactus farm ever. He also can heal with for example spider gland or sleeping in tent.
Woodie can be a pain in the ass for teams who are playing shipwreck because of the fact that if he transforms, the boat sinks and everyone on it drowns. Then everyone revived on the nearest point of land and has to build a completely new boat. All food on your old boat is lost. You could get most of the resources back but you have to go out to where you sunk to retrieve some of what you lost.

something you forgot to mention about wurt is that she gets more hunger from vegetables. She also doesn't lose any sanity from durians either, and also gets almost double the hunger from them.
@@EdgyRick Wendy dose a about the same damage as a chacter with a normal damage chacter who is buffed by Abigail. So if Wilson and Wendy attacked the same mob with Abigail they would do about the same with Wendy doing a tiny bit more
Anything the ghost hits it puts petals on it increasing all damage to the target by 40%, but bc wendy herself does somewhere around 30% less (can't remember exact rn) she only ends up doing 10% more but in a group it's great bc everyone will benefit from the petal buffs
I like Warly a lot, I find him very fun to play and he is one of my favourite characters in the game. But I do agree with him being F tier, because he just kind of sucks and does what the other characters can do just a little bit worse. This is true for most of the characters below c tier and just because a character is bad doesn't mean you shouldn't play them. You did a good job with the video btw

Shes good at combat like change the floor to swamp turf and she will be faster than wolfgang at mighty, also with king merm her stats are op, and can still heal good for combat with his op pies, the F class obviously cant go that well as wormwood cant heal that well, but for example wilson will go same well as woodie in combat but obviously woodie with goose exploring is 100, but as you said "most of the charactres below c" so i will think you mean wurt is a exception of the word "most"

@@marcoscastrillo8298 the actual exception was Wes but I do agree that Wurt deserves a little bit more recognition, but the fact that she's vegan makes most of the meta recipes completely unavailable and the only real reliable source of healing in the early game for her are blue mushrooms. Dragonpies are pretty time consuming to make for what you get.

How have you put Wurt so low, do you know how strong murks are plus when you get the murk king going your stats become amazing, not to mention you never need to bother about sanity of you carry fish around and the vegan downside isn’t as bad as it sounds since when she eats non meat foods it is 33% more effective

You barely explained Wormwood benifets and just shamed the downs... I feel like with experience he can be a real viable character, and health will be less of a problem if you learn how to kite properly. You also explained if a bot was programmed to be good at the game, that’s how you would rate your system, I feel like a bot with good programming would be able to kite enemies eliminating healing. And by dropping a stack of petals near a werepig can get you 40 poop and a stack of rot from petals and some nitre is an easy way to heal, not to mention tents and healing salves. I feel like this character deserves higher than a C Tier due to the characters uniqueness, like blooming in spring making the character look pretty and giving him the speed buff for an entire 20 days or so for the spring season, or how he can just plant seeds on the ground instead of using farms that require mass resources where wormwoods farming makes it easier, and how he can easily go insane to farm nightmares by chopping trees, and when he is done with farming nightmares he can just plant the pinecones from the trees he chopped to be sane again, or making that bramble armor so it makes you immune to taking damage from cactus. And the ability to make living logs can come in handle as well. I also want to add that most people who play wormwood are experienced players since you have to pay to play wormwood on dst, and new players wouldn’t just randomly invest into that character, only people with research over the character really play him. I think you really hate this characters play style because you not experienced with hard playing style.Yes I’m a Wormwood main. I think you should have given him a more fair review. I've rushed the ruins solo as Wormwood once. You can heal with healing salves, tent and a bunny fur sleeping roll. It's a playable character and certainly way better than Wes. I haven't played Warly yet (and probably don't intend to play him for a long time) but I think I'd prefer wormwood over him. But still, I'd put him right beside Wurt at best (maybe he's a little more useful than Wurt for my playstyle). Sure, Wormwood does have a lot of little perks. But it's annoying as hell sometimes too. You said he looks pretty and walk faster on spring, don't forget it comes at a price of a faster hunger drain. Also, as healing salves only heal 20 up you gotta use up a lot more of them to heal up. And even though there is that honey thing for healing 30hp, it's even more annoying to make. It's certainly not my go to character. I'd only play it to challenge myself or help a friend's server that already has a lot of different more useful characters. Wilson is way less annoying and easier to handle in 99% of the situations. No downsides +insulation on winter.
Wormwood is in a good stop in the list in my opinion.Your first point about kiting. Everyone can kite, but no one is perfect and healing with wormwood is so slow during combat and harder to get out side of it. Your 2nd point. Using that method is so much slower compared to any other character, most can just make pierogis and be done with HEALING. Your 3rd point. Speed buff for one season is not really usable when HEALING still takes a crazy amount of time during combat when the speed buff is the most noticeable . Your 4th point. Planting seeds straight to the ground doesn't matter solo since you can just make a decent bunny farm and be done with food for forever( this is why wormwood is a swap character just like Warly ).Your 5th point. Living logs wont be a problem after 2-3 treeguards, and you can just use green caps to go insane much faster. Bramble armor is only usable in that one situation of which the other characters wont have a problem since they can HEAL. Over all the HEALING is the biggest problem you cant HEAL in combat and it take SO MUCH longer to gain resources to HEAL. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

After you get used to making healing salves, and if you don't mind napping a bit while you go for some water every now and then, it can be at least a better char than wes imo. It's annoying as hell, but not worse than Wes (except in spring, I hate the hunger drain on spring). But I guess I'll give Wes a go and see if he truly ranks better than Wormwood.
recently i joined a long-running server and decided to play as wormie. i was farming peppers for all of autumn with wicker :) With wortox, wendy, bees, and me as wormwood we farmed 200 living logs in a day :)
Wendy is S tier for me she is sooooooo good. Asking why here is the reason. Everyday Abigail gets +health so when she is maxed out on health she can get deerclops with the help of some boosters. And Wendy herself is a good farming character.
i agree with the placements of the bottom 2 characters, they exist to support other characters in multiplayer, like how Warly's could dramatically increase Wolfgang's attack power
As a self proclaimed warly main if you learn your dishes well and early game make sure you’re doing something while you cook. Then he’s very strong and still can get through early game Once he gets volt goats and a farm up and rolling he is an unstoppable force. On his own he does more potential damage then Wolfgang can have damage resist harvests faster and has strong statistics. (For his food) jazzy shows this well
Wurt is more like a late game A or S tier. She pretty much does everything essential well late game. She can hire a bunch of merms to chop down an entire forest or mine minerals. She can easily and efficiently farm tree guards. She can make marsh turf for cheap which allows her to plant merm fortresses wherever she wants. And because of that, she can set up highly efficient monster material farms pretty much everywhere. She can start a civil war among the merms to farm fish which she can then trade with the merm king for a lot of food and resources, or she can build more merm huts with the fish she got. There are veggies that heal effectively and can be mass farmed all year round, so food and healing is not an issue as long as you know where to look. She gets a significant stat boost post merm king which puts her stats among the best fighting characters. She can fight alone against the enemies that do aoe attacks, or hire an entire army of merm fighters to destroy everything else. She can set up another merm king and merm army(a lot easier this time around since she already has an entire kingdom of merm workers above the ground) near the ruins and slaughter everything that stands in her path. Also, a fish plus a sanity regen hat = no sanity drain in the caves. Her only downside is that she can’t trade with PK for gold, but that just means she needs to be careful where she uses her gold nuggets. You can still get gold if the gold mines aren’t enough for you though, just not as easily as with other characters. Yes, she is like a vegetarian Wilson at the beginning but is definitely one of the best characters late game. Is she an easy character to play? Not really. Setting up an entire merm kingdom is no small feat. But I’d argue that she is one of the best characters in the game in the sense that she is really fun to play and offers you a satisfying sense of progression.

I'd like to point out that Wormwood's weakness isn't as big of a deal if you kite the attacks of hostile mobs instead of tanking them. I'd argue this tier list is more ranking the character's ability to ruins rush instead of ranking them based off of how strong they are when played with their most effective style.
funny story rick i got into a game with a bunch of noobs as wortox and i did not eat a single thing other than my souls and they starved to death there were only 2 other players and i refiled the fridge like 1000 times and by the time i got back to base the fridge would be half gone
My typical Wortox experience during winter lel, it always annoys me when they join in winter and decide to kill the Koalefant from the base just to make some meatballs and still starve right after.
i still believe wendy is s tier just because she’s easy to use and can completely obliterate spider dens and multiple mobs which is very good for early game, plus you can give her a damage boost which is isn’t hard to get to make up for wendy’s lower attack

With the new update dropping ("Reap what you Sow") Warly is considerably better (A~B tier imo) since farming became more intriguing and rewarding, if you craft a chef's backpack, you'll be able to store the potatos and garlic he starts with, get a bird caged and get potato and garlic seeds early in the game, without saying that farming for pepper and garlic becomes so much easier for spices early in the game. It's a little bit of a pain early on since he's weaker than his Don't Starve Shipwrecked counterpart but it's worth it long term.
My idea for a character, Wesley, the tinkerer. He is Webber's dad and Wagstaff's nephew, he is able to build machines. He is also the one who created WX but couldn't get him working, until Maxwell stole the blueprint and brought WX to life using nightmare magic. Perks: -Can craft mechs using his mech garage, there are four stages and three types: Makeshift, Sturdy, Industrial, and futuristic. Each piece of a mech must be made separately, the pieces can be carried like suspicious marble. There are 5 pieces, 2 legs, 2 arms, and 1 cockpit or torso. The Makeshift mech is crafted using boards, rope and cut stone, the cockpit glass is made of simple fencing. It has 200 health and a speed half of the player, it can punch for 25 damage, so it is pretty bad. The sturdy mech is crafted using cut stone, gold, a few electric doodads and 1 gear per limb, the cockpit glass is gold mesh. It has 350 health and can punch for 50 damage; its speed is half of a player. The industrial mech is crafted using gears, thulcite, frazzled wires, electric doodads, and the cockpit glass is moon glass. It has 750 health, and its speed is the same a player unless it is a movement mech. This is the first customizable mech, you can add three different types of arms: collecting (uses a green gem that depletes over time and Pick/axe, can chop trees and mine rocks), combat (Uses a red/blue gem, which depletes over time, and a spear/blow dart which varies the type of combat), or movement (Uses an orange gem, and a walking cane. Travels twice the speed.) The industrial mech also has 2 chests worth of storage. The futuristic mech could be crafted using some new rare material, moon glass, wires (Craftable with gold and mosquito sacks), Gears, and moon rock. This mech has 1500 health and a speed equal to a player, unless it is a movement mech. This mech has to be customized and can be the three types mentioned before except you need much better materials to craft them. -Can craft small machines, there are three machines: Collector drone, Miniature car, and Rube Goldberg. The collector drones have two levels, one can pick up certain items like the Allay in Minecraft, and the second can pick up, pick, or slowly mine rocks and trees. The miniature car is like a Chester and can hold 6 items. If given a lightbulb it will light up, similar to hutch. Rube Goldberg machine can raise sanity by a certain amount depending on the different attachments. -Can craft vehicles: Airship, that can take you to a set location and has 3 uses. Go kart, can be driven at a speed that depends on the type of car and power source. Better boats can be larger, faster or more durable. -Each machine, mech or, vehicle has to have a power source. Oil can be mined from caves power level, 2. Windmills can be made at different levels power level ranges from 1 to 3. Lightning, lightning rods can be put on top of mechs and vehicles, power level 5. -Has an extra stat similar to Wolfgangs mightiness called intelligence that determines the condition of the machines he makes Detriments: -Doesn't dabble in magic, cannot craft or use any magic items, and loses sanity around shadow manipulator and prestihatitor at a rapid rate. -Is terrified of spiders, loses sanity and takes double damage from spiders. After he cast his son out of his home, he feels guilty and is terrified of spiders. -Loses intelligence whenever he see's something he conceives as illogical Stats: 150 health, 150 sanity, 100 intelligence and 200 hunger. He can modify his health using body modifications. He cannot revive using touch stones or other items because those are all magic, but he can craft robots to inherit his consciousness when he dies. I spent an hour writing this comment please like. If any modders want to steal my idea, please do, and send me a link to the mod page.
Its amazing how much more balanced all the characters are now, to the point that you can play almost anyone whitout feeling like You Made the wrong choice. I mean... Remember when willow,, winnona, wendy, and woody were all trash? Finally You can have fun while still being effective. (It's kinda sad that most of the new characters are the ones that are Bad, which is sad given their interesting playstyles. Hey klei, gimmy a wormy boi rework, perhaps make him take more healing from his special recepies and alternative healing sources. And perhaps make wurt get more food and health from veggies

Honestly, Wormwood and Warly were created for the DLCs in which they work just wonderfully. In Don't Starve Together though, I would not recommend playing them, although they might have some interesting perks but are in my opinion not worth the effort except, of course, if you actively seek out for the added challenge.
In all honesty as shitty as ppl may see warly in DST he is not terrible. I love playing him with my buddies since if you have wigfrid and get her garlic powder or chili powder on food you get unbeatable one man army tank

@@blazoraptor3392 Fair enough but even solo he can hold his own pretty finely since he does not have to take care of multiple hungry fucking children eating all the food. Like yea sure farms are not as efficient and i agree on that but even simple berries stashed away and simple log armor to fight koalefant or beefalo is pretty good enough for warly to survive. His greatest advantage is his bag acts as lesser fridge before you get fridge. It would be tedious but warly can be strong even solo, it just takes time to get used to his quirks and make best of his advantages.

I really think Willow should be A or S tier because she is totally immune to the darkness as long as she keeps her lighter out, and can also cook things on this, so she is a great hunter-gatherer.

I feel like you shorted Wormwood here. There's many other options for healing than just "die and rez with a lifegiving amulet i guess lol" and his control over his sanity, living log farm and incredibly simple seed planting shouldn't be underrated. Still, have your like :p Even though I'd have liked you detailing Wicker farming literally hundreds of grass and twigs via lureplant in addition to her other perks...but I guess she can't be higher than S tier :v Might be a video idea to break the chars up into "roles" as well, not just solo - do you want to gather resources, and don't mind having the hp of a wet tissue? Maxwell. AOE mob farming? Wendy > Webber, as Abigail works on bees as well and you'll have some heavy hitters to make up for your personal DPS lack, plus pigs won't instantly try to gib you. Other good combos: Wormwood + Wortox (living log spam + heal with souls), Wolfgang + Maxwell (STRONG man will protect puny weakling), Wicker + WX (charging and he can eat the spoiled food she can't), that sorta thing.
Another thing that you forgot to mention about Wortox, during teleportation he is immune to all damage, meaning you can cheese certain bosses without needing to dodge like the shadow pieces
Wortox is the best character. He has no downsides. He dont need food or something that avoid spoiling He dont need heal bc of souls He dont need lazy explorer bc of souls He can easily explore entiere world really fast to find best base location He deserves 1st place
@@zerpuck he has 3 small downsides: food is half as effective, souls drain sanity and I think pigs attack him I'm not trying to say he's bad though. He's still amazing.
@@uncivilizedapricot3907 i mean you don't really need any food for him, 3 minutes wasted on butterfly grinding and you're already fully healed and has full hunger meter. Sanity is not a problem at all, except for Fuelweaver, shadows are not that dangerous to being afraid of them. Also you can get a lot of shadow fuel in a short period of time. And also pigs aren't really effective for any kind of work, only maybe in early game and for farms, which can be built no matter how aggressive pigs are towards you
Wolfgang actually loses more sanity: Yes, he loses less while fighting monsters. But things like nighttime or bearger when you are making him chopping trees loses you more sanity. Just more nightmare fuel tho, especially with Wolfgang Also I can't optimise the 33% damage resistance. When you take damage, you are not ususally full hunger ( I mean not 300, obviously mighty.) and you can't heal much because your health is more. Plus I dont wanna be wimpy. Any tips?
The game is really getting easier and easier, there is a lot of food available in the world, after making a Bunnyman farm, I can keep his stomach in 300, 100% of the time.
I just want to remind people that PIEROGI IS NOT THE ONLY HEALING DISH!!! There are so many other options that no one uses like beefy greens, moqueca, wobster bisque, flower salad, surf n turf, the goddamn gumbo and so much more (that were only the 40+ healing dishes) that makes me cry at this man. And the salt seasoning even increases the heals by 25% but nobody cares. It's just the fucking pierogi and dragonpie. PLEASE GUYS REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS Edit: yea you have a lot of farming for all of these recipes but they still exist and now that farming is much more efficient once you get the hand at it, moqueca will just outclass everything in existence (even more with salt spices - 75 to be correct) Edit 2: yes i know that if your compare foods by their stats only Mandrake Soup would be the best but stuff like wobster bisque or beefy greens (better dragonpie but still) are still pretty easier to gather.
You can use spools to get the dlc characters SEPERATLEY, like by themselves... so I just saw a video on CZcams, where dude bought an elegant skin from the steam community for, he said the equivalent of .60 cents. Then recycled it for 1350 spools. So you can get the characters way cheaper that way

I am personally wigfrid main , because at start she gets a 56 damage spear and a 80% damage reduction helmet , which are also really easy to craft later . Plus she gains sanity and health when she attacks .
@Wattson electric every other character can do pig wars u can fully auto spider farm witch is way more efficient and safe the only good thing about him is his health witch most have better anyway he has bad sanity too and can't go near pigs or bunny's plus most are bad and place spider nests

I'd like to see them overhaul shadow creatures with some new variants, I don't want them to have debuffs though just act differently and still attack you. As far as nightmare creatures go (the ones in the ruins), I'd like to see them completely overhauled they shouldn't be shadow creature clones.
At the start of the video you stated that the list was based on if the characters had perfect play, meaning that if you trained a bot to play perfectly THAYS how they’d play, but then you put wormwood in F tier over being unable to heal? With perfect play wormwood wouldn’t even take damage, + there’s plenty of alternative healing that’s efficient to use
I think maxwell is 2nd best char. (1st is wolfgang hes just killing machine) So maxwell has no downside: less hp? no problem just kait your enemy, that sanity buff isnt problem at all and I think hes one of best characters for farming n. fuel in early game (just craft 2 axe and 1 pickaxe shadows) your sanity will be so low that your only need to carry around 10 green caps or blu caps. You will have plenty of those when you go to forest. You just need to be more careful when you play as him. he has so sooo storng up side: gather everything so fast and that if you didnt know saves your time! So you perfectly fixed your time waste while kaiting. Sorry for my bad English :)
Want an unpopular opinion? I personally rank Wolfgang D tier. Why? Well 2 reasons: 1: The larger problem no one seems to talk about... Wolfgang makes the funnest part of the entire game 3 times shorter and much less fun. I know it seems ridiculous to count an advantage as such a massive weakness, but I greatly enjoy the great tug of war struggle I experience fighting difficult shit. When I get out of a massive difficult battle using Wilson or w/e it felt like I deserved it. Wolfgang's completely ludicrous power takes all the fun and excitement out of most encounters. This knocks him lower for the same reason I would rank a character with 200% speed, godmode, and 1 hit ko F tier. That's boring as hell dude, I don't play Don't Starve to NOT be challenged. 2: The smaller, obvious problem- Which is I hate his weakness. And I mean I !HAAATE! this guy's weakness. And the only way to get around his weakness of hunger drain is to accept a different weakness, which eliminates the purpose of using the character. People time and time again argue, "well you can use his strength to get food more efficiently"... Well that's completely botched because almost all of the time spent getting food is spent GETTING TO food. I'm not eating bosses, I'm eating koalephants and tallbirds and hounds and berries and shit like that. There isn't a single thing in this entire game which both a reliable food source AND deeply difficult or time consuming to fight. Wolfgang can theoretically kill a koalephant 3x as fast as Wilson, but Wolfgang can NOT find the print, hunt the tracks, corner the koalephant, and then kill the koalephant much faster than Wilson at all. gonna have to disagree with that wormwood placement because healing salve isn't hard to make + he has his own healing products which ingredients are easily farmable. for solo id say he's c tier because his seed planting is good for self sustainability but generally he's not reliable in ruins rushes. multiplayer he's s tier, you could feed a whole server.

Bro wendy is better than webber in every way, farming spiders is faster and more efficient. and anyway, the damage penalty is not even a big deal since nightshade give abigail 40 damage at any time and a 40% damage boost to wendy while attacking the same target with abigail, competing with wolfgang in terms of damage on top of that she's the only character with AOE, also you can craft potions to suit your playstyle, (aaaand you can rush solo bee queen) i feel like she's underrated and not judged at her best

I know Wilson is supposed to be a starter character but it upsets me that Wilson is supposed to be a scientist yet has no perks related to them, it'd be cool if he could craft useful unique items (non necessary for noobs) that make him stronger in late game, that way hes still a good noob character, but can also get stronger in hands of good players
Yeah they kinda robbed him of that, since he was the first character he had to be the base line. They gave all the cool sciency stuff to Wagstaff which is unfortunate but at least we got a science guy on the list.
My hope is that they will rework him and give him an exclusive tab. It should be something balanced, so it wouldn't ruin the status of the middle tier character, maybe something that can work and be a little advantageous or blow up and waste resources randomly, so it wouldn't be reliable
My headcanon for wilson is that he was the first person to be dumped into the constant, so after that he obviously didnt really know what to do and just started doing S C I E N C E, alchemy engines, science machines, termometers, thermal stones and all that shit while researching the rules of the world, noting behavior of certain creatures etc and by the time more people got dumped he grew a beard and shared all his research because he wanted to make survival easier by teaming up with other, equally confused people

Woodie can be a pain in the ass for teams who are playing shipwreck because of the fact that if he transforms, the boat sinks and everyone on it drowns. Then everyone revived on the nearest point of land and has to build a completely new boat. All food on your old boat is lost. You could get most of the resources back but you have to go out to where you sunk to retrieve some of what you lost.

Anything the ghost hits it puts petals on it increasing all damage to the target by 40%, but bc wendy herself does somewhere around 30% less (can't remember exact rn) she only ends up doing 10% more but in a group it's great bc everyone will benefit from the petal buffs

But I do agree with him being F tier, because he just kind of sucks and does what the other characters can do just a little bit worse. Dragonpies are pretty time consuming to make for what you get.

You barely explained Wormwood benifets and just shamed the downs... I feel like with experience he can be a real viable character, and health will be less of a problem if you learn how to kite properly. You also explained if a bot was programmed to be good at the game, that’s how you would rate your system, I feel like a bot with good programming would be able to kite enemies eliminating healing. And by dropping a stack of petals near a werepig can get you 40 poop and a stack of rot from petals and some nitre is an easy way to heal, not to mention tents and healing salves. I feel like this character deserves higher than a C Tier due to the characters uniqueness, like blooming in spring making the character look pretty and giving him the speed buff for an entire 20 days or so for the spring season, or how he can just plant seeds on the ground instead of using farms that require mass resources where wormwoods farming makes it easier, and how he can easily go insane to farm nightmares by chopping trees, and when he is done with farming nightmares he can just plant the pinecones from the trees he chopped to be sane again, or making that bramble armor so it makes you immune to taking damage from cactus. And the ability to make living logs can come in handle as well. I also want to add that most people who play wormwood are experienced players since you have to pay to play wormwood on dst, and new players wouldn’t just randomly invest into that character, only people with research over the character really play him. I think you really hate this characters play style because you not experienced with hard playing style.Yes I’m a Wormwood main. I think you should have given him a more fair review. I've rushed the ruins solo as Wormwood once. You can heal with healing salves, tent and a bunny fur sleeping roll. It's a playable character and certainly way better than Wes. I haven't played Warly yet (and probably don't intend to play him for a long time) but I think I'd prefer wormwood over him. But still, I'd put him right beside Wurt at best (maybe he's a little more useful than Wurt for my playstyle).
Sure, Wormwood does have a lot of little perks. But it's annoying as hell sometimes too. You said he looks pretty and walk faster on spring, don't forget it comes at a price of a faster hunger drain.
Also, as healing salves only heal 20 up you gotta use up a lot more of them to heal up. And even though there is that honey thing for healing 30hp, it's even more annoying to make. It's certainly not my go to character. I'd only play it to challenge myself or help a friend's server that already has a lot of different more useful characters.
Wilson is way less annoying and easier to handle in 99% of the situations. No downsides +insulation on winter.
Wormwood is in a good stop in the list in my opinion.Your first point about kiting. Everyone can kite, but no one is perfect and healing with wormwood is so slow during combat and harder to get out side of it. Your 2nd point. Using that method is so much slower compared to any other character, most can just make pierogis and be done with HEALING. Your 3rd point. Speed buff for one season is not really usable when HEALING still takes a crazy amount of time during combat when the speed buff is the most noticeable . Your 4th point. Planting seeds straight to the ground doesn't matter solo since you can just make a decent bunny farm and be done with food for forever( this is why wormwood is a swap character just like Warly ).Your 5th point. Living logs wont be a problem after 2-3 treeguards, and you can just use green caps to go insane much faster. Bramble armor is only usable in that one situation of which the other characters wont have a problem since they can HEAL. Over all the HEALING is the biggest problem you cant HEAL in combat and it take SO MUCH longer to gain resources to HEAL. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk.

After you get used to making healing salves, and if you don't mind napping a bit while you go for some water every now and then, it can be at least a better char than wes imo. It's annoying as hell, but not worse than Wes (except in spring, I hate the hunger drain on spring).

recently i joined a long-running server and decided to play as wormie. i was farming peppers for all of autumn with wicker :) With wortox, wendy, bees, and me as wormwood we farmed 200 living logs in a day :)

Wendy is S tier for me she is sooooooo good. Asking why here is the reason. Everyday Abigail gets +health so when she is maxed out on health she can get deerclops with the help of some boosters. And Wendy herself is a good farming character.

i agree with the placements of the bottom 2 characters, they exist to support other characters in multiplayer, like how Warly's could dramatically increase Wolfgang's attack power
As a self proclaimed warly main if you learn your dishes well and early game make sure you’re doing something while you cook.
Then he’s very strong and still can get through early game
Once he gets volt goats and a farm up and rolling he is an unstoppable force. On his own he does more potential damage then Wolfgang can have damage resist harvests faster and has strong statistics. (For his food) jazzy shows this well
Wurt is more like a late game A or S tier. She pretty much does everything essential well late game. She can hire a bunch of merms to chop down an entire forest or mine minerals. She can easily and efficiently farm tree guards. She can make marsh turf for cheap which allows her to plant merm fortresses wherever she wants. And because of that, she can set up highly efficient monster material farms pretty much everywhere. She can start a civil war among the merms to farm fish which she can then trade with the merm king for a lot of food and resources, or she can build more merm huts with the fish she got. There are veggies that heal effectively and can be mass farmed all year round, so food and healing is not an issue as long as you know where to look. She gets a significant stat boost post merm king which puts her stats among the best fighting characters. She can fight alone against the enemies that do aoe attacks, or hire an entire army of merm fighters to destroy everything else. She can set up another merm king and merm army(a lot easier this time around since she already has an entire kingdom of merm workers above the ground) near the ruins and slaughter everything that stands in her path. Also, a fish plus a sanity regen hat = no sanity drain in the caves. Her only downside is that she can’t trade with PK for gold, but that just means she needs to be careful where she uses her gold nuggets. You can still get gold if the gold mines aren’t enough for you though, just not as easily as with other characters. Yes, she is like a vegetarian Wilson at the beginning but is definitely one of the best characters late game. Is she an easy character to play? Not really. Setting up an entire merm kingdom is no small feat. But I’d argue that she is one of the best characters in the game in the sense that she is really fun to play and offers you a satisfying sense of progression.

You have forgot that wormwood can use compost items to heal and it is really good i think rot is like five health per second for 6 seconds
It sounds to me like you're just picky with food and want consistently specific food items and any character that messes with that is a no-go.
I'd like to point out that Wormwood's weakness isn't as big of a deal if you kite the attacks of hostile mobs instead of tanking them.
I'd argue this tier list is more ranking the character's ability to ruins rush instead of ranking them based off of how strong they are when played with their most effective style.
funny story rick i got into a game with a bunch of noobs as wortox and i did not eat a single thing other than my souls and they starved to death there were only 2 other players and i refiled the fridge like 1000 times and by the time i got back to base the fridge would be half gone
My typical Wortox experience during winter lel, it always annoys me when they join in winter and decide to kill the Koalefant from the base just to make some meatballs and still starve right after.

With the new update dropping ("Reap what you Sow") Warly is considerably better (A~B tier imo) since farming became more intriguing and rewarding, if you craft a chef's backpack, you'll be able to store the potatos and garlic he starts with, get a bird caged and get potato and garlic seeds early in the game, without saying that farming for pepper and garlic becomes so much easier for spices early in the game. It's a little bit of a pain early on since he's weaker than his Don't Starve Shipwrecked counterpart but it's worth it long term.

My idea for a character, Wesley, the tinkerer. He is Webber's dad and Wagstaff's nephew, he is able to build machines. He is also the one who created WX but couldn't get him working, until Maxwell stole the blueprint and brought WX to life using nightmare magic.
Perks:
-Can craft mechs using his mech garage, there are four stages and three types: Makeshift, Sturdy, Industrial, and futuristic.
Each piece of a mech must be made separately, the pieces can be carried like suspicious marble. There are 5 pieces, 2 legs, 2 arms, and 1 cockpit or torso. The Makeshift mech is crafted using boards, rope and cut stone, the cockpit glass is made of simple fencing. It has 200 health and a speed half of the player, it can punch for 25 damage, so it is pretty bad. The sturdy mech is crafted using cut stone, gold, a few electric doodads and 1 gear per limb, the cockpit glass is gold mesh. It has 350 health and can punch for 50 damage; its speed is half of a player. The industrial mech is crafted using gears, thulcite, frazzled wires, electric doodads, and the cockpit glass is moon glass. It has 750 health, and its speed is the same a player unless it is a movement mech. This is the first customizable mech, you can add three different types of arms: collecting (uses a green gem that depletes over time and Pick/axe, can chop trees and mine rocks), combat (Uses a red/blue gem, which depletes over time, and a spear/blow dart which varies the type of combat), or movement (Uses an orange gem, and a walking cane. Travels twice the speed.) The industrial mech also has 2 chests worth of storage. The futuristic mech could be crafted using some new rare material, moon glass, wires (Craftable with gold and mosquito sacks), Gears, and moon rock. This mech has 1500 health and a speed equal to a player, unless it is a movement mech. This mech has to be customized and can be the three types mentioned before except you need much better materials to craft them.
-Can craft small machines, there are three machines: Collector drone, Miniature car, and Rube Goldberg. The collector drones have two levels, one can pick up certain items like the Allay in Minecraft, and the second can pick up, pick, or slowly mine rocks and trees. The miniature car is like a Chester and can hold 6 items. If given a lightbulb it will light up, similar to hutch. Rube Goldberg machine can raise sanity by a certain amount depending on the different attachments.
-Can craft vehicles: Airship, that can take you to a set location and has 3 uses. Go kart, can be driven at a speed that depends on the type of car and power source. Better boats can be larger, faster or more durable.
-Each machine, mech or, vehicle has to have a power source. Oil can be mined from caves power level, 2. Windmills can be made at different levels power level ranges from 1 to 3. Lightning, lightning rods can be put on top of mechs and vehicles, power level 5.
-Has an extra stat similar to Wolfgangs mightiness called intelligence that determines the condition of the machines he makes
Detriments:
-Doesn't dabble in magic, cannot craft or use any magic items, and loses sanity around shadow manipulator and prestihatitor at a rapid rate.
-Is terrified of spiders, loses sanity and takes double damage from spiders. After he cast his son out of his home, he feels guilty and is terrified of spiders.
-Loses intelligence whenever he see's something he conceives as illogical
Stats: 150 health, 150 sanity, 100 intelligence and 200 hunger.
He can modify his health using body modifications.
He cannot revive using touch stones or other items because those are all magic, but he can craft robots to inherit his consciousness when he dies.

Honestly, Wormwood and Warly were created for the DLCs in which they work just wonderfully.
In Don't Starve Together though, I would not recommend playing them, although they might have some interesting perks but are in my opinion not worth the effort except, of course, if you actively seek out for the added challenge.
In all honesty as shitty as ppl may see warly in DST he is not terrible. I love playing him with my buddies since if you have wigfrid and get her garlic powder or chili powder on food you get unbeatable one man army tank

Like yea sure farms are not as efficient and i agree on that but even simple berries stashed away and simple log armor to fight koalefant or beefalo is pretty good enough for warly to survive. His greatest advantage is his bag acts as lesser fridge before you get fridge. It would be tedious but warly can be strong even solo, it just takes time to get used to his quirks and make best of his advantages.
@@MrTigersvk what exactly can you make with meat and berries as warly, other than meatballs? he can only eat crock pot foods and he cant even eat the same food multiple times. that giant downside for a backpack fridge that you would otherwise get on day 10 really doesnt seem like a good trade

I really think Willow should be A or S tier because she is totally immune to the darkness as long as she keeps her lighter out, and can also cook things on this, so she is a great hunter-gatherer.
To put warly in A tier is absolute heresy when WX is in E tier
Willow isn't immune to overheating but just to burning
Willow has extra resistance to overheating, basically the only way for her to overheat is stand by a bunch of fires, or stand by a fire in summer.

I feel like you shorted Wormwood here. There's many other options for healing than just "die and rez with a lifegiving amulet i guess lol" and his control over his sanity, living log farm and incredibly simple seed planting shouldn't be underrated. Still, have your like :p Even though I'd have liked you detailing Wicker farming literally hundreds of grass and twigs via lureplant in addition to her other perks...but I guess she can't be higher than S tier :v
Might be a video idea to break the chars up into "roles" as well, not just solo - do you want to gather resources, and don't mind having the hp of a wet tissue? Maxwell. AOE mob farming? Wendy > Webber, as Abigail works on bees as well and you'll have some heavy hitters to make up for your personal DPS lack, plus pigs won't instantly try to gib you.
Other good combos: Wormwood + Wortox (living log spam + heal with souls), Wolfgang + Maxwell (STRONG man will protect puny weakling), Wicker + WX (charging and he can eat the spoiled food she can't), that sorta thing.
Another thing that you forgot to mention about Wortox, during teleportation he is immune to all damage, meaning you can cheese certain bosses without needing to dodge like the shadow pieces
Wortox is the best character. He has no downsides.
He dont need food or something that avoid spoiling
He dont need heal bc of souls
He dont need lazy explorer bc of souls
He can easily explore entiere world really fast to find best base location
He deserves 1st place

@@uncivilizedapricot3907 i mean you don't really need any food for him, 3 minutes wasted on butterfly grinding and you're already fully healed and has full hunger meter. Sanity is not a problem at all, except for Fuelweaver, shadows are not that dangerous to being afraid of them. Also you can get a lot of shadow fuel in a short period of time. And also pigs aren't really effective for any kind of work, only maybe in early game and for farms, which can be built no matter how aggressive pigs are towards you

Wolfgang actually loses more sanity: Yes, he loses less while fighting monsters. But things like nighttime or bearger when you are making him chopping trees loses you more sanity. Just more nightmare fuel tho, especially with Wolfgang
Also I can't optimise the 33% damage resistance. When you take damage, you are not ususally full hunger ( I mean not 300, obviously mighty.) and you can't heal much because your health is more. Plus I dont wanna be wimpy. Any tips?
Get a wicker and a wormwood, wormwood plants ground crops, wicker uses applied horticulture
The game is really getting easier and easier, there is a lot of food available in the world, after making a Bunnyman farm, I can keep his stomach in 300, 100% of the time.

Seeing how you put Woodies beard for winter as a plus side I would say not being able to shave it in the summer is a down side.
I just want to remind people that PIEROGI IS NOT THE ONLY HEALING DISH!!! There are so many other options that no one uses like beefy greens, moqueca, wobster bisque, flower salad, surf n turf, the goddamn gumbo and so much more (that were only the 40+ healing dishes) that makes me cry at this man. And the salt seasoning even increases the heals by 25% but nobody cares. It's just the fucking pierogi and dragonpie. PLEASE GUYS REMEMBER THAT THERE ARE OTHER OPTIONS
Edit: yea you have a lot of farming for all of these recipes but they still exist and now that farming is much more efficient once you get the hand at it, moqueca will just outclass everything in existence (even more with salt spices - 75 to be correct)
Edit 2: yes i know that if your compare foods by their stats only Mandrake Soup would be the best but stuff like wobster bisque or beefy greens (better dragonpie but still) are still pretty easier to gather.

You can use spools to get the dlc characters SEPERATLEY, like by themselves... so I just saw a video on CZcams, where dude bought an elegant skin from the steam community for, he said the equivalent of .60 cents. Then recycled it for 1350 spools. So you can get the characters way cheaper that way

I am personally wigfrid main , because at start she gets a 56 damage spear and a 80% damage reduction helmet , which are also really easy to craft later . Plus she gains sanity and health when she attacks .

@Wattson electric every other character can do pig wars u can fully auto spider farm witch is way more efficient and safe the only good thing about him is his health witch most have better anyway he has bad sanity too and can't go near pigs or bunny's plus most are bad and place spider nests

I'd like to see them overhaul shadow creatures with some new variants, I don't want them to have debuffs though just act differently and still attack you.
As far as nightmare creatures go (the ones in the ruins), I'd like to see them completely overhauled they shouldn't be shadow creature clones.

At the start of the video you stated that the list was based on if the characters had perfect play, meaning that if you trained a bot to play perfectly THAYS how they’d play, but then you put wormwood in F tier over being unable to heal? With perfect play wormwood wouldn’t even take damage, + there’s plenty of alternative healing that’s efficient to use

I think maxwell is 2nd best char. (1st is wolfgang hes just killing machine) So maxwell has no downside: less hp? no problem just kait your enemy, that sanity buff isnt problem at all and I think hes one of best characters for farming n. fuel in early game (just craft 2 axe and 1 pickaxe shadows) your sanity will be so low that your only need to carry around 10 green caps or blu caps. You will have plenty of those when you go to forest. You just need to be more careful when you play as him. he has so sooo storng up side: gather everything so fast and that if you didnt know saves your time! So you perfectly fixed your time waste while kaiting. Sorry for my bad English :)
If you make 1 axe guy and 2 fighter guys you will permanently be insane and can farm nightmare fuel with no problems

Want an unpopular opinion? I personally rank Wolfgang D tier. Why? Well 2 reasons:
1: The larger problem no one seems to talk about... Wolfgang makes the funnest part of the entire game 3 times shorter and much less fun. I know it seems ridiculous to count an advantage as such a massive weakness, but I greatly enjoy the great tug of war struggle I experience fighting difficult shit. When I get out of a massive difficult battle using Wilson or w/e it felt like I deserved it. Wolfgang's completely ludicrous power takes all the fun and excitement out of most encounters. This knocks him lower for the same reason I would rank a character with 200% speed, godmode, and 1 hit ko F tier. That's boring as hell dude, I don't play Don't Starve to NOT be challenged.
2: The smaller, obvious problem- Which is I hate his weakness. And I mean I !HAAATE! this guy's weakness. And the only way to get around his weakness of hunger drain is to accept a different weakness, which eliminates the purpose of using the character. People time and time again argue, "well you can use his strength to get food more efficiently"... Well that's completely botched because almost all of the time spent getting food is spent GETTING TO food. I'm not eating bosses, I'm eating koalephants and tallbirds and hounds and berries and shit like that. There isn't a single thing in this entire game which both a reliable food source AND deeply difficult or time consuming to fight. Wolfgang can theoretically kill a koalephant 3x as fast as Wilson, but Wolfgang can NOT find the print, hunt the tracks, corner the koalephant, and then kill the koalephant much faster than Wilson at all. The miniscule time saved in this interaction is canceled out by the cost of food. Always. You can't get around the math. (Except with a Wickerbottom next to you. In which case I guess do whatever the hell you want)
Therefore... Wolfgang makes me spend 50% more time doing tedious chores I don't want to do and 1/3 the time doing the things I absolutely LOVE doing. How do so many of you people have fun with this character? Cause I have tried and tried and tried and TRIED AND TRIED AND TRIED... And I just can't get into it. He's just such a fucking DRAG.
gonna have to disagree with that wormwood placement because healing salve isn't hard to make + he has his own healing products which ingredients are easily farmable. for solo id say he's c tier because his seed planting is good for self sustainability but generally he's not reliable in ruins rushes. multiplayer he's s tier, you could feed a whole server.
His healing animation takes like an a hour. Youll get more damage than you healed.
Since her rework, Wigfrig is very powerfull now.
