Griffith's Eclipse which is symbolized as walking over men's faces to ascend to the top and become a god is really taken for granted and I think the tentacles are a sign of something specific to Void's life

Unlikely, as Griffith/Femto is by all means and purposes the Idea's "Chosen One".
Or he may pull an Anakin and ruin everything for himself (which he sorta already did by sacrificing the og band).
If they are not defeated, and instead being replaced every 1000th year or so, perhaps femto will be the last one standing? He would have to recruit 4 new godhands? Godfingers? Godlimbs? Idk..

I hate that this new chapter was brief, but in thankful that Miura released something. The "new" Godhand members shown here were cooler looking than the ones present IMO. Also was heartbroken to see Gaiseric holding his old lady dying in his arms and made me think "That could be Casca if Guts doesn't get a grip on the armor".
I don't think it was brief. There were multiple double page spreads in this chapter. There was a ton of detail in every page.
During guts eclipse, skullknight went straight for void's head ! Almost like he didn't care about the others godhands, this two definitely have history and i can't wait to find out !

The girl might be a fairy queen. She was wearing alot of fairy tools. She was also wearing kind of Roman of Greek clothing meaning this was centuries ago. She's probably the sacrifice that made Skull Knight going berserk. Puck also once said Skull Knight felt familiar which shows he's actually related with fairies.
Wasnt there a chapter that mentioned the old king (sk) merged the spiritual and pshysical realms in a sort of harmony? I think shierke mentioned it that a thousand+ years ago the elementals and spirits were respected until humanity turned away. Perhaps SK married a elve princess to join the realms.

Chapter was crazy! I love the inhuman design of the past godhands - i did notice that unlike them our current godhand seemed to share a lot more design elements, a lot more humanoid with bat/wings etc. And also i believe that the Eclipses are themed after the Godhand - where Griffith had beheliths everywhere and a behelith egg to hatch out of, Void has these spiked tantacles covered in exes that resemble a spine.
SO WHAT IM THINKING:
about the Spiral of time.. Yes it might be a sign of bettering that guts did not have the berserker armor in the eclips - but what if this wasnt Femtos only eclipse? The parallel that has not happened yet, is the sacrifice of an entire kingdom and falconia seems to corellate to the kingdom of old.
I could really see Griffiths ambition leading him to become the leader of the Godhand with a comparable sacrifice to Voids. If Guts by some misfortune also found himself in that second eclipse, he would also be in posession of the berserker armor at that point.
Dam that sounds like a good possibility
What if the rise of Skullknight's old kingdom was somehow perpetrated by Void after his eclipse, like if Griffith came back and buddied up with Guts to create Falconia.
It could be that Void's eclipse had nothing directly to do with Skullknight, and that is why he was so foolish to work with Void to expand his kingdom. Maybe that's how he branched out into the astral world?
Then after the kingdom was established Void played betrayer and sacrificed it.
That sets up the whole spiralling time thing to have Griffith as king instead of Guts, and Guts potentially stopping the next sacrifice instead of causing it?

I guess Griffith had his second mass sacrifice when the egg gave birth to a new world / Griffith. Remember the tower of fate (I think it was called this way?) where the refugee camp was light up with the sign of the branded?
The woman was an elf. Her ears are pointed. Imagine if we get Bonedaddy in the next chapter straight up murdering 4 God Hands. It would be worth all the 'breaks' Miura took his entire life.

I also think this will be the case. This analysis is a bit on the hyper end IMO. The glaring facts are 1. 4 God Hands between then and now are gone and 2. Skull Knight is pissed.

a tale of Tolkien levels of complexity, such a beautiful manga.
I compare him and GRRM a lot.
Tolkien was fun to read and is one the biggest influences of all time, but Muria is on a whole different level. Tolkien is like high school, simple world building and vanilla story telling. Muria is like 4D-5D level of intricacy
@@brunowoods9812 no offense, but Miura didn't write a cohesive universe which spanned eons starting with the literal creation of the universe on. nor create entire languages himself for the individual species in his tale, sometimes multiple languages for the different sects and variants of a single species. Miura gave us a deep, intricate world which spans so far, just over a thousand years with essentially a single spoken language. the two i would say were just as detailed in their creations. though Tolkien's is a more far reaching scope, expanding his complexity across the whole of the Legendarium, where Berserk is centered, and focused on a small band, and their lives. the way they intertwine and how they immediately effect the world around them. because if you think The Hobbit, and LotR is the whole of Tolkien's universe, than you're obviously speaking out of turn and don't know what you're talking about. those two tales together only span at best a 70 to 80 year period of time at the end of the Third Age. where as The Silmilrilian covers more than 20,000 years, from before the First Age, into the First Age across multiple ages, with a depth and complexity to it that most people can't grasp it until their third of fourth read throughs...and that is The Silmilrilian, as in pertaining to the history of the Silmilrils.

Muira, Tolkien, Martin, MAR Barker, and Greg Stafford are all on about the same level, and which one is best is more up for reader preference.
@@EyeOfEld you're sorta making my point though. i wasn't saying one was a more complex world builder, clearly they aren't. my argument was against the notion that Miura was somehow a master of world building, and Tolkien was somehow "high school" level. the idea i conveyed is, using Berserk as an example, the complexity of this universe is compressed into a short span of time. where Tolkien expands this across eons, literally building his universe, constructing language, history, and religions in his universe. so the notion that he is somehow a grade school world builder is a clear show that the individual who believes this is not actually aware of his works. likely having read one or two of his published works, if any...and more likely taking their knowledge from the deeply flawed Peter Jackson adaptations.
I kind of hope we see SK take down an actual member of the old god hand before he goes down. I want to see them be mortal

This chapter gave me goosebumps. So many questions, so much being implied. Amazing chapter, if any hype for Berserk has dwindled, this is shaking things back up.
The new chapter although short gave a lot of info. Some questions have been answered some new have been asked. never been a better time to be a part of the berserk community.

7:27 I would also note on the panel where you see Guts and Skull Knight contrasted and where Skull Knight holds the woman in his arms: Pay attention to *which arm* it is he's holding her in and which Guts is holding out. It's the arm that Guts lost during the Eclipse, the hand that isn't there anymore. I think this also is meant to show that this woman is someone who Skull Knight lost/had taken from him, just like Guts losing his arm.
We're also shown the pov part through skull knights' right eye
I also think it represents the change/differences in causality between guts and skull night which suggests guts' outcome will be different.
I'll bet that the woman who died in SK's arms was his queen. Her outfit, particularly the jewelry, strongly suggests it. It also kinda looks Babylonian to me. She could have been Elfheim's previous ruler, making it a political match, or she could have abandoned her home to be with SK. Either way, still tragic af.
What I find the most interesting in all this, besides the "old" god hand and the possible rise of my boy Void, is the presence of these tentacles in this eclipse, instead of the faces in Gut's eclipse. What is the meaning of this diference? Or is it some kind of mega-apostle?
i'm thinking maybe the way the deep astral world works is it shapes itself around according to the godhand (like how the avatar of Slan appeared as a part of Qliphoth it might just be the other way around with their actual prescence) so with a different group the landscape turns into something else?
but, anything goes at this point, we'll probably learn in a couple more decades lmao
I just think the Miura has it as a theme that every time you run into these guys there’s an interesting landscape they bring. Adds to the atmosphere.

@@kingmaul3038 I don't believe it was Skull Knight honestly. With his recent attempts on Void during the eclipse and Femto, I don't see him having the capability to kill 4 Godhand members. It would make more sense that the Godhand members are recycled or replaced every millennium or 216 years.
This is all finally coming together. Remember princess Charlotte told everyone in the tower way back during the Golden Age that the legend says 4 (or five, I don't remember) angels came down and destroyed Gaiseric's kingdom. This explains so much! Can't wait for next month's chapter! 😭

I remember there was a panel that shows the bottom of the tower in that deep hole. The bottom was littered with skulls that all had the brand on there forehead. I think they were sacrifices to void

The Demon Fetus/Moonlight Boy was not needed for the ceremony, and in fact, offers nothing but disadvantages to Griffith.

If they were being cycled out, you'd have seen a previous one bow out when Femto was born. My money's on the idea that Skull Knight killed them, either right there during that Eclipse or in the years that followed.
So, my theory is that, in the Skull Knight eclipse, when his loved one died, he feels so much anger that he could kill the Godhand, thats why we don't see these ones that appears in this chapter, but doing this the armor sucked his life, only leaving his soul, than someone transfers to his armor that he uses now, probly Flora, idk

Berserker Ultra Instinct Skull Knight confirmed.
1 of two things, either:
Skull knight w/ a brand didn't die there and made it out and got his soul transferred (otherwise the brand would mean he would of been dragged away instantly)
Or
Skull knight wasn't there initially at the eclipse so he couldn't be branded so when he died he couldn't be dragged away.
One thing interesting i think, is that during Griffith's eclipse we don't see a 5th god hand. So we can't necessarily say Griffith replaced him more like filled an empty space I'd say and thus perhaps there is a way to kill the god hand.
So, listen to this. Perhaps during each 5th god hand, the struggler has the armor, he goes berserk, kills the 4 other members leaving only the 5th to create the cycle. But guts didn't have the armor creating a ripple that might end the cycle.
Nah, the armor would be far from enough to destroy just one member, let alone 4 of them
Not necessarily.. This was the end of Skull Knight..
We need to know more about Skull Knight previous power level compared to now, if it is similiar, and plus it gets on top Berserker armor at full power I would not be surprised if he managed to kill 4 God Hand members, with Void surviving thanks to it's counter abilities

And now you also have to realize that Zodd was in that eclipse too because he knew Skull Knight when he had the berserker armor because he recognized it when Guts put it on the first time
Oh lord that's true, but we have to see if that eclipse happened really 1000 years ago, because Zodd is around 300/400 years old if I'm right, so it might hint something else
Or he could have just been known as Zodd for the last 300-400 years but went by something else before that. And as a slight correction to my first comment, if Zodd was there as an apostle, then he would've had to become an apostle before this eclipse happened. It would make a lot of sense with his attire since he looks like a barbarian chieftain or something like one.

But if he was in the eclipse and received the sacrifice brand how did he became an apostle ?
A few things:
1. We don’t know if the woman from the berserker armor memories died in the eclipse, in fact I would argue the opposite. Her clothes are intact, she seems to be conscious at least momentarily with minor wounds (from what we can see) and she is in the arms of wearer after it’s been activated meaning that it’s possible that she survived.
2. Also about the same woman, I think her pendant around her neck is interesting. Obviously it looks like an elf, but are we just going to ignore that the bottom half looks like a Merrow? Furthermore, we have seen Elf’s and Merrows, but we have yet to see the mix of the two.
3. Calling it now, the blacksmith will upgrade the dragon slayer
The woman might be a merrow-elf herself, that's entirely possible, that'd be nuts. Also yes, Guts's equipment will definitely have an upgrade.
Her pendant is also a fairy winged version of the bat winged chestplate of skull knight's horse
I very much doubt SK lover survived judging with how SK gone full berserk & so far he was surprised when he manages to save Guts & Casca even though they were branded.
my thought exactly, maybe SK lover is a princess/queen of an extinct race instead? like a whole race of people being sacrificed. Also reminder that Gaiseric timeline atill have potent magics within the world.
Another possibility: Skull Knight knows how to kill God Hands, and spent the last 1000 years whittling them down while Void kept replacing them, and Skull Knight is going to teach Guts how to slay a God Hand- which would do wonders for closing the power gap between him and Griffith.

But skull knight will die killing void, then guts will lose casca like sk. Then he will whittle down the god hand until Femto replaces them, then guts will teach someone in the berserk armor how to kill god hand members, and Guys will die killing femto.

The quality and detail of the manga has gone up so much, from already being really good, that every panel feels like an ilustration card on its own. No wonder it takes ages to make, holy shit., look at that ancient Eclipse.
Also, so many juicy theories we can juggle with now! I want to experience the whole story so bad... we all do.
ye man i've started reading random stuff and it's not like i complain about their quality or something, but when i read the new berserk chapter my eyes were so excited with the quality of the drawings
I figure Skull Knight's death INSIDE the armor, during the eclipse, just merged him with the armor in a way. Skull Knight's armor physically exists, while his soul has taken on its form. He was probably atop his horse for a long period during the eclipse
It's clear to me the only constancy is Void. It's like all other Godhand members come and go, but he remains.
Either that or it's members are larger than we were lead to believe.
And that memory of Skull Knight's; likely it was an old love. You saw the branding on her shoulder? That tells the whole story.
What you showed was not the entire flashback. There's a scene when Shierke removes Gaiseric helmet. Obviously it was a scene when memories was mixing together but I think it's a Gaiseric memory still. In particular, I guess it's the memory when Flora, Shierke's mistress, removes the Berserker armor from what remain of Gaiseric that is Skull Night. I think this happened during the eclipse and this is the reason why Skull Night still exist and how Berserk armor was saved.
Sure bums me out when people are like " this chapter revived Berserk for me " I get everyone's different but I cannot comprehend boredom when reading Berserk at any point. Best ever.... brb gonna go read the whole manga again.
The boat was a bit of mood killer.
I could understand it in the context of the last few chapters, which have mainly been cutesy witch stuff and Griffith winning at life. But in the grand scheme of things I don't feel the story has really dipped in quality that much. I've certainly never been bored!
Ikr I completely agree idk why people think the Fantasia arc is bad even though the quality of berserk hasn’t ever gone down and so many key things are happening in this arc. People act like if there’s not an eclipse every second they can’t stay to see the story’s progression🤦🏽♂️ Idk where they expect to experience a better manga tho
@@berserkmaster2514 That arc is seen as bad because well, years ago having to go through that with each chapter releasing one by one in an inconsistent timeframe, it didn't feel like much was happening, perspective kept changing to the Falconia stuff when everyone honestly was just concerned about Casca getting healed and Guts seeing her. And it was a chore to get to.
We also didn't learn anything new or substantial compared to this one chapter alone.

I was more interested in the faith forest the moment they entered and wanted to know more, AND it was peaceful for Guts. I read the chapter this morning, and my thoughts on it are identical to yours and it made me really happy. It makes the most sense this was voids ascension and I’m excited to learn more about SK’s backstory. Hopefully we get a little insight into Zodds backstory as well

My theory is that in every “set” of god hand when they get to the fifth one (which at this point would be Grifith) it “resets” and Grifith will be the one recruiting new godhan members so to speak instead of void that time who knows maybe we’ll get a time skip and we’ll see that in action

I feel that skullknights soul survived in his current limbo/inbetween form, becouse he was consumed by his inner beast of revenge. Maybe that's the real cost of using the berserker armor to the end. Not only do you die, but you forever remain, roming the nights, seeking vengence.
Finally, I’ve been dying to see a meaningful chapter. I’ve been obsessed with seeing some evidence of Void and Skull Knight’s history. This is exactly what I needed even if it was the shortest chapter I’ve ever read it was so juicy, BUT NOW I NEED MORE.

Yeah this chapter was amazing! I just love the way it points to the cyclical and repetitive nature of the world of Berserk. It seems hinted that SK and Void's relationship is almost a replica of Griffith and Guts. This just shows how in Berserk fate in unavoidable (individuals just struggle against it), and how causality will just push towards the same result. Even though those old members of the Godhand, except void, were likely killed, things have come full circle, as there are 5 members once more. In general, this chapter just means so much when it comes to the future of berserk and the way things work.
This hellscape reminded me Nidhoggr's lair in Norse mythology. A mass of twisted vines in a frigid (here dark), hellish place among a sea (astral sea?) and the roots of the world tree (here being the metaphorical and possibly literal foundation of the manifested world tree that grew earlier) creating a den of dragons and serpents, all the progeny of one of/the ultimate evil of Norse myth. Rather than prehistoric, all of those tendrils looked conspicuously like wurms/wyrms, linnorms and other serpentine, slithering dragon-related entities from early medieval folklore. Knowing Miura, it might be straight-up drawing from it.

As for the Idea of Evil, I think that, rather than so much desiring aught or acting on its own accord, it functions to manifest the collective will of all of mankind. It is not so much willfully evil of its own accord as it is itself an effective of mankind's will reinforcing itself in a terrible, self-perpetuating cycle.
Zodd was alive for over 1000 years confirmed. He knew sk with beserker amor and he died in it.

@@nailtoolofamusement there is a contradiction as chapter 92 page 2, Zodd told skull knight that he has "been opposing him for thousands of years". So it really isnt any concrete evidence how old zodd is.

This god hand really gives me ancient period filing,the female reminds me of Ephesian Artemis the round headed one of the mix of the mask of tragedy and roman the mouth of truth the bearded guy could fit that period no idea about the last one
This makes me believe that Void is the 5th Godhand memeber originally, not the first. Since we see a the previous members. What if Void is a product of history repeating itself with the Godhand? Looking at void will tell you Fempto will turn out. I think Guts will see Griffith again during another eclipse, but this time he might be wearing the armor, but Fempto will escape into the astral realm after the other Godhand have been slain.
Thus starting the whole thing back over again, but instead of Void, it’s Fempto, since he as the 5th Godhand has the same powers that Void does as the 5th.
Casca being the leader of the new BoH instead of Guts is also strengthening imo

With Falconia, I think it the big battle involving all the Godhand, this would be THE battle that Sonya talked about about Zodd choosing a side to basically fight with Guts as a warrior or against Fempto as a beast. I think history will repeat itself in the form of duality. Look at Gaiserick, he and Griffith attainted a kingdom, one through human means, the other through magical. Gaiserick United all the kingdoms or nations or whatever until it fell apart, with Gaiserick using his army to kill the Godhand but it fractured his empire. The same fractured empire that was wreaking havoc for 1000 years until Griffith came around.
You see were I’m going? Fempto is about to unite all the empires just like Gaiserick did in the past. Void is like Griffith, he wears the torture on his face but wanted revenge like Guts. Hence why the “angels” decended.
Remember all the corpses that had the brands in their foreheads? We know that’s how how brands work. So i believe they were self inflicted, to make themselves a sacrifice of their own choosing 🤔

The biggest flaw in your analysis is The Child.
If he is in anyway shape or form connected to Griffith... Well.. The Child will be the new "God" if he and the Godhand fall.
Instead of the Godhand, devils in disguise of angels, you get one singular God.
To me the biggest plottwist Miura has in his pocket is revealing that the child is monumentally stronger than Griffith since he was born in the astral realm, (technically he was as his physical body somehow, someway, survived the eclipse, otherwise Griffith would have no physical body ti steal from the child) he is legions more powerful with room to grow even stronger. He is the literal child of the fate defier, the death denier, the struggler, the OG himself, Guts. Guts struggled against fate. Imho, the child will *rewrite* fate.
I hope I'm right. Seeing Griffiths stolen kingdom stolen from him would be... Glorious, to say the least.
The first one of the new cicle is going to be the last one at the end. It s to soon to speculate. We need to know what append to the other 4.... they died? They failed to ascend? Maybe skull boy killed them but was unable to stop the recruit of new members? For Sure this cicle is different so its new territory eaven for skull boy
My theory is that the King was consumed by rage in that moment and went on a rampage killing the apostles trying to get to the god hand. With the virtually limitless number of apostles and monsters around, he most likely exhausted himself (i.e. bled out and died) while trying to carve a path to the God Hand. The eclipse then ends and his body and armour are left behind, the former being fully consumed by the latter. Someone then retrieves the body (maybe Flora?) and returns it to Hanarr for him to transfer the essence of the fallen King into a new vessel, The Skull Armour.
It's so hard to keep track of what is happening, I can not imagine the nightmare for those who started reading berserk 30 years ago. Your videos help me keeping track of the events :)

I didn’t expect to see this answered until next year..and wow..this did answer some suspicions of mine. The god hand are not infinite and void and the king are connected.

Great video as always Ryan. I also wanted to point something out about Zodd. When the berserker armor was introduced, Zodd seemed to have known about Skullknight's relationship to it and his ultimate fate involving it. If what we saw in the memories was indeed Void's ascent as seen from Skullknight, then this would imply that Zodd predates even Void, because how else could he have known about the berserker armor and Skullknight using it if he wasn't already around during this event? At the very least, this indicates that Zodd has been around for a very very very long time.

edit- Maybe SK didn't actually have a brand and so when he died in the eclipse his soul stayed between the realms like the dragon slayer? and another thing about SK- I think the characters who call him "King" knew him before he died and was an actual king and not some cheeky nickname. I mean, Guts is known as the Black swordsman, only someone who knows him from the band of the hawk days will think of calling him "captain", even if they did learn his past.
One more thing about the Godhand- we had 4 before Femto, do you think they get swapped or do they die? how long between the time one is gone and until another is chosen? maybe the ultimate behelit grants you the perfect wish, shaping a world to serve you? I mean the whole world is under Griffith now, maybe Femto only exists in our reality because it was remade to suit his wish?

Tremendous chapter! I loved it. At the same time it's such a tease. I hope we get plenty more Gaiserik's backstory. We need it as well as the story. I think in the next chapter he's gonna start telling his story. Maybe it's gonna even connect to Void's backstory and later on to part of Zodd's backstory.

12:01 Really like this theory that you put. It makes sense in a long run. For Guts to keep on living and having a possibility to win, he needs to have something again to fight for. If he lost everyone, he would just completely go berserk and on a suicide mission. But like this, there might be some hope for him to restrain himself when the time for that comes.

Maybe is not an eclipse, just a summoning like the one in the black swordsman arc, and maybe the behelits weren't invented yet, so the ceremony itself was diferent in nature, the apostles tha came out of the tentacles have a furry look like trolls, maybe they are more "natural" and not the two faced human-demon apostle produced by a behelit

okay, crazy theory here, BUT what if King Gaiseric is actuall VOID, and the Skull Knight is either the King of another Kingdom that opposed King Gaiseric, or is actually his brother or other relative?
I just thought about that because I do not understand how what we saw could be HIS Eclipse with the outcome we saw.
Because, as saw prior, doing an eclipse (or summoning the godhand with a regular behelith) gives the one who used it two options: Either sacrifice something or be taken yourself if you refuse... If you refuse, then, from what we know, the things that were on the table to offer will be spared, but the one who summoned the godhand get his Soul and life taken instead. But from what we see the sacrifice has been made, and a Town/City is being sacrificed (as seen by the giant burning mark on the ground behind the dead lady) as well as the lady (who also had a mark). But if King Gaiseric summoned them, and accepted, which would cause that to happen, why and HOW would he fight against the demons? Also we saw FIVE Godhands, with Void most likely being the newest recruit, BUT if Skull Knight REALLY is King Gaiseric, then that would mean that it was not HIS Eclipse, but someone elses. WHO'S Eclipse was it? Or was it King Gaiseric who then turned into Void, and the Skull Knight is actually someone else? Most likely another king?

Doesn't he need a special kind of behelit though to be a godhand member like the crimson one that Griffith got? As far as I remember, Guts got it from the slug count and that was a normal behelit? Not sure though.

@@sanhammy9470 it's true, a Crimson one is needed for a God Hand member to rise, and still a eclipse happens every 216 years(the cerimony needed for someone to become a God Hand member), basically just happend only few years ago, so it's unlikely that we will see a new God Hand member soon. Unless that God Hand member is created in some other not "natural"/abnormal way

I really think so, expecially if back then without the armor he was still in a similiar power level as now.
With the Berserker armor at full power I would not be surprised if he managed to kill 4 God Hand members, while Void didn't got killed because of it's abilities that countered him

Great video Ryan. I totally agree with your perspective in this chapter. I agree that the Godhand are replaced every 216 years, and from what we see in this chapter Void is the new member, this is his ceremony. I really dislike the theory that Skull Knight killed the other members, which I honestly think sounds ridiculous because of the attempts that Skull Knight tried to kill Void and Femto. Skull Knight was always that entity that was after and against the Godhand, but he was always one step behind them, and i don't think he was able to kill one
