If they did, it would go through "official channels" and take time. Here none of that happened anyway. No one made a written or even verbal request. The senator just called his pal the chief and went over and viewed the video in the chief's office and had a great friendly chat. So any citizen can do this? Try doing it. Try even calling the chief. Corruption can come in many forms and when a state senator gets involved with a city police department enforcing a law and then the officer covers his mic to try and withhold his comment from the official record of the stop is never going to be a good thing. We are all equal under the law, or so they say. But this right here speaks to the power and influence politicians and their families hold in the judicial system. This is what needs to be addressed, among many other things within judicial law enforcement. If her dad was not a sitting senator, she would of faced a hefty fine and court costs and surcharges. But because her father sat in a seat of power, her charge will and probably was dismissed without a single secondary thought.

      The cop deserved to get fired... Was this malicious intent?... No, but there NEEDS to be ZERO tolerance for ANY cop that interferes with audio/video evidence of an interaction. COPS can't decide when, and when not to record their own actions... How can you argue otherwise?
      This cop covered his mike for a silly reason, but he did it. He also knew he was breaking policy or he would NOT have thought to cover it. He paid the price and got fired, but the "entitled" girl didn't wish it upon him.

      to those who didn't understand, the cop pulled her over and tried to convince her to talk with her dad, try to mute the microphone is wrong? hell yeah.
      but if you pay attention, the cop in this case is unbeliavable good! he says he don't agree with the chief policy, which is "STOP EVERYONE AND BRING THEIR DAMM MONEY", if a chief is stupid enough to make all his subordinates to go out there and instead of protect, just charge them, how many illegal stops and tickets you guys think this chief makes them do?
      far from me defending police, but remember, not all cops are corrupt, but the system is. the superiors always cover for them and always teach them to do bad things, even when they don't wanna do, that is why god cops are rare nowdays, the entire system is bad. which makes even the "good" cops bad, because its really rare see they turn over the corrupt ones (like the case of that girl who charge another police guy for drunking and high speed and got harassed, the entire system is shit)

      and remember, he could easily said "yeah guys, i was wrong, i'm learned my lesson blablabla" and get his job back, but instead he said "yeah, i did wrong trying to mute the microphone, but i don't regret the things i talked, i don't agree with the chief policy"
      but i agree with Common logic about the audio thing... but by the way he tried to do, makes me think he isn't good at that, which relieves me.

    • @_Common_Logic_
      @_Common_Logic_ Před 5 lety

      Ladod Draran - We get your point, but what you need to take into consideration is that (as you said) the cop covered his microphone.
      It was more an act of subordination this time (still wrong), and not trying to cover a human rights violation, but WHO gets to decide that? Do we let the COPS decide when it's OK to mute the equipment?...
      Do we let the police agencies decide when it's ok to mask or with-hold what's happening during citizen interactions, in essence, "policing themselves"?... Do we let a local government official Who's friends with the Police Chief decide whether a cop can be fired or retained after stopping his daughter?
      The above scenarios are the exact reason why things are like they are today. The only system everybody (except the corrupt) can agree on is digital documentation of police interactions where the officer and dept. do not have the capability to pause, alter or lose the files before trial dates.
      We all see what this cop did and most of us would be tempted to do the same, but ZERO tolerance is the only way. This was an unfortunate example that hopefully makes the other cops in that town think twice before taking "creative liberties" with equipment bought by us to protect us.

    • @_Common_Logic_
      @_Common_Logic_ Před 5 lety

      Ladod - Yeah I wish we could depend on each cop's interpretation of what his "Job" is. We've seen that it's not a perfect world and that cops need to be trained and TOLD what their job is as each officer seems to have a different approach to "law enforcement".
      Realistically, as well as literally speaking we do not hire scholars to be cops. Generally, no college education is required.
      Signing up for law enforcement is like signing up for the military. There are tiers of Superiors, authority, and bureaucratic bullshit to answer to and uphold whether you think it is right or not.
      I couldn't do it, but I expect the people we pay to take orders to do just that. We pay others at higher levels a higher wage to make the decisions. Not every soldier is a General. When we lose subordination among the troops, we lose the war.
      It really is a joke that with all of the blatant infractions we see perpetrated by rogue cops with NO disciplinary action that THIS guy would be made the example... But I have to stick with my opinion.

      Chad, many states have what is commonly called a "Fix It Ticket" (or something like that)... where if you get a ticket for some equipment-related infractions, such as broken headlight, tail-lamp, cracked windshied, tinted windows, etc, etc, etc, you are generally allowed a certain time period to get the denoted equipment repaired prior to the court date and the ticket will be dismissed by the court.

    • @mayhem7316
      @mayhem7316 Před 6 lety

      flowergirlDeb of course. I am well aware. If i didn't say this before, then i made the wrong argument. My real question is why is she driving a gov vehicle with gov plates, illegally tinted windows when SHE does not work for the gov. And don't say "well she could" because very few gov workers actually get those vehicles. So her daddy gave her a vehicle, illegally, and then attempted to fix a ticket for her. If his intent was not to fix the ticket, why call the chief? He can't do anything about the tint laws, he would have to call the state house of reps and get THEM to change the law. My issue is more with him than her. But her situation shows the gross double standard that applys to thise in power and those close to them versus the rest of us. Do you think the cop would have told you that one call to a senator could get this fixed? Especially if your dad isn't a senator?
