Idk, I almost always did it by ear. It's probably slower but I find it pretty neat that Naughty dog programmed that in. And you'd "only" need to go through at most 300 combinations.

Honestly I prefer to watch someone have to work hard to navigate scenes through multiple tries, that's much more entertaining than others who do one shot head shots EVERY.SINGLE.TIME from 600 feet away. I've now binge watched the first 3 episodes and I look forward to the next chapter. I could feel the relief that you felt as soon as the you cleared the graveyard scene, but I did snicker knowing what was right around the corner. Please don't cut out failed attempts, a big part of your overall presentation is your personality when faced with adversity, that I think is what draws viewers to your channel.

Girl, don't use all your shivs, keep one at all times for the shiv doors. And don't skip doors with critters (infected) inside, that's a clue to goodies inside. Bill's traps are there for a reason, goodies are near.
Head shots with the bow and arrow so you can get the arrow back. Explore your heart out woman!! Don't skip areas for goodies, safes and letters. Lol 😂

It doesn't have to be a head shot. If you shoot a human/Runner in the chest then you can usually get the arrow back after. It depends on how they fall. If they are walking away from you and you shoot them in the back then they will fall forward, leaving the arrow intact. But if they are facing you and you shoot them in the chest then they sometimes fall forward, breaking the arrow.

Clickers can't see you. They are 100% blind. They can only locate you if you make enough noise. It seems like you are too worried about being seen by them. If you maintain enough distance and you are being silent, you'll be fine. If you can be strategic, clickers are the easiest one of all of the zombies.
You were making it harder on yourself: After using the brick/bottle, to huddle enemies together for the Molotov, you don't have to do anything else except keep your distance. The fire will take care of them. When you shoot at them, that just alerts them to where you are and they will come after you. :)
I kept screaming at my screen, to tell her to let the fire or bomb do it’s thing😂😂. Lol
You can't blame her she goes in completely blind in her playthrough and she plays the game for the story and to have a fun time it's not really are place to tell her how to play the game all we can do is give her tips without spoiling the story or the encounters for her
PS: besides she got better in stealth in TLOU part 2 still doesn't know how to use a bottle/brick though 😅
When your inventory is full try crafting some stuff because u left a lot of stuff behind 😂

I always try to keep as much stuff crafted as possible so that I can either have full inventory or be able to recruit if I have to use stuff. I still end up leaving things behind on occation but I'm as prepared as I can be.

the mechanics in this game are awesome , you can stealth but if you're not good at it you can shoot your way out ,and if you're like me (terrible both at stealth and shooting ) you can punch your way out ,i'll never forget my 1st playthrough of the game : "the last of us:boxing simulator" :)

These videos are getting an instant like from me. Back in 2013 when I had the refrigerator moment happen to me, I freaked out as well. No game has ever done something like that to me until then. Such a fun an exciting bit of gameplay and the run/chase you have to do after and seeing Elle and Bill first interaction... then with the gym short after that! What a rollercoaster!

Also, fun fact: Ellie was played/voiced by Ashley Johnson, who was in her late 20s/early 30s when they were making the game. She's done such a fantastic job at portraying a 14-15 year old girl. When I played the game for the first time, I was just blown away by the fact that Ellie's actress is not a kid. (She even won the BAFTA game award for her performance in The Last of Us: Left Behind!)

If you happen to see this remember instead of throwing bricks and bottles by holding L2 first and throwing it in an arch, you can get close to an enemy and just hit R2 to throw the item directly at the baddie. This stuns them long enough for you to run or kill. Bricks and bottles are your best friend in this game

Im so glad it is still possible to find blind/first playthroughs of this game, such a masterpiece.
Btw, to explain about the tools thing - to upgrade weapons you need 2 things as you saw: tools and parts.
Parts is the resource that is limited and you "consume" for the upgrades, and need a certain amount for each upgrade.
Tools is basically the tier of each upgrade.
No tools = tier 1 upgrades , lvl 1 tools = tier 2 upgrades , etc... So when you find a tool (like in this video you found lvl 1 tool) you basically unlock a whole tier of upgrades, for the next tier (where it says it requires lvl2 tools ) you need to find the next tier tools.
About the arrows, there is a chance they break and a chance that they dont and you can get them back. The chances, in general, are random, with some variables.
For example, headshots which are instant kill, have an higher chance of retreiving the arrows (not breaking).
According to some testing on my own, and also looking up other peoples results, seems that hitting hard spots (when you miss the shot) has higher chance of breaking than hitting soft spots (like hitting a brick wall vs it falling on grass). As i said, it still has the random factor, and the rate of the arrows breaking seems to be different from each result, however, in general it still seems that depending on how hard/soft the surface is and where you hit an enemy it increases/decreases the chances of it breaking vs not breaking.
General idea - try to hit headshots and you have an higher chance of getting it back, and also see if you can get it back because there is always a chance (even if small) to get it.
1. Yeah, each tool permanently unlocks a batch of upgrades. And each upgrade costs a certain amount of parts.
2. From watching a number of videos, it looks to me like you get your arrows back about 60% of the time. What do you think? Does that match your experience? Or do you think you get more -- or less -- arrows back?
@@UTU49 I dont think it is a fixed value. I think there might be a base chance that is a fixed value, but then it adds an increase or decrease in the chances based on the target.
What ive seen is that people that hit more headshots seem to be able to recover more arrows (at least in most cases) while someone who hits only bodyshots seems to get less arrows back.
Even more with hitting a wall. I personally only hit walls a couple times (that i remember) and they allways broke. Most people i saw, also have arrows breaking in the walls. However, I already seen a couple people recovering arrows that hit a wall, so it seems that it is possible, but it drastically increases the chances of breaking, which is the opposite of hitting heashots.
so it is impossible to get an exact number (or even a close guess) to the chances, since it seems to have some factors that will change that value.
It would be interesting to know what is the base value tho, but that would be almost impossible to calculate since we dont know exactly how they put it and how much the other factors change.
My guess is that it would be close to the middle, so the number you gave could easily be that base chance before the input of the surface you hit.
I say this because it makes more sense.
Based on the idea that external factors can either increase or decrease the chances, they would need space in both directions, so being in the middle (between 50/50 and 60/40) would make sense.
The cemetery is a good time to learn the value of the humble brick

I am enjoying your playthrough and your emotional investment in the story. I couldn't imagine playing this and NOT being emotionally invested. Watching you play this is frustrating, but that is only because I've played thru every level except survival and know where every thing is. As for finding Firefly pendants (and later on things Ellie collection), you just need to explore more. Doors that you need to shiv open usually have some good supplies, same with doors that have obvious infected behind them. You found some supplies I didn't know about. I never have went into the Bloaters "nest" as you called it.

59:23 These tips are probably coming too late, but here we go: having two weapons available (using the second holster) should be an early choice, because you will run out of ammo if you use only one weapon. And switching between long range and short range weapons quickly is helpful fairly often - and even more so when you are not staying in stealth.
Also, upgrade the bow as much as you can, because you can do stealth headshots much more easily, and then pick up and reuse the arrows. Although on moderate difficulty you could still get away with upgrading a couple of your favorite weapons, because you will probably find just enough ammo.
The continuous bobbing and weaving in that school bus area was MASTERFUL 😮

Loving this blind playthrough! I laughed a little bit when you took down the bloater in one try after many attempts in other places. Bloaters freak me out the most so it took me the most attempts to get rid of that thing in the school gym! Great job there - can't wait to see your reaction to the rest of the story.
You gotta be ready for those extra conversations and drop what you're doing, and then get back to it after the extra conversation. They are good ones.

I love that you were like "okay I will use the rifle for far away stuff, and the shotgun for up close" and then immediately after, forgetting that you have a shotgun, and trying to get through the graveyard with the rifle a million times 😂
Loving the playtrough, one tip though! I notice you keep firing your weapons when they have 1 bullet in them. You keep canceling the reload animation by spamming the shoot button. If you let the animation finish you can shoot several times before reloading. Now you only get to shoot once haha
This drove me nuts. Also, for someone with military background and with CoD experiance, I dont know how can she not reload the weapons when in down time between the fights.

Bills town is my favourite, the way it’s named his makes it sound cool, the starting part where Joel and Ellie jump off of the highway thing kind of makes it cozy that they’ve arrived and the forest kind of area and the fact this is the first time we encounter the bloater, Joel obviously has fought it before because he explains it when they kill the bloater

I am late with this comment, but here it is anyway. This is a challenging section, but you have the one weapon tailer-made for dealing with clickers - and that's the pump shotgun. When Bill handed you the shotgun, the game was sending you a big hint as to what is coming.
The other really good weapon for this section is the bow. But I feel that is dependent on the comfort level. You can stealth kill clickers with the bow. On the plus side - you are spot on with the molotovs and bombs.
The problem with the hunting rifle is that the clickers are too herky-jerky to get clean shots on them with it. And that reload speed is unforgivable. And the Clickers eat small arms fire. The shotgun is the best bet.
Great playthrough! I like it how you have a shotgun for close range but decide to use the hunting rifle and pistol for some reason and end up dying over and over again :D. That part is not really hard if you use a shotgun :). Keep it up though, your playthroughs are very entertaining to watch!
Also you can turn on the setting to scan for loot in your environment. It’s in the accessible settings and you don’t have to go hunt for all loot all over, it will ping
I love that accessibility. with that on you don't go around like a chicken with it's head cut off looking for things. I don't think a lot ppl know about it though, sadly.
Bricks and bottles are you best friend, especially with clickers. Throw and stun them, then use melee. You can also “brick them down” by smashing them with brick 3x.

Honestly you did so good surviving the school yard/bus area, you basically gonna get spotted no matter what when you go get the latter so you have to kill them all but you snuck past so well till you got there and got seen. If you had killed one or two more while stealthing around beforehand you would’ve been better off and wouldn’t have to run in so many circles but that honestly made it more entertaining 😂
I just wish that Joel would have told Bill that Tess is somewhere else now

Joel is emotionally closed off. He still misses Tess so he can't tell Bill (or anyone) that she's dead, because he knows that then he would have to talk about that loss.
I’ve been playing through the first time too. I loved the show and have a off again on again relationship with my ps4, but I am absolutely terrified of zombie(or zombie like) creatures, it’s really helped watching your videos as I play, makes me feel like I’m not alone. 😋

Also, I would kind of expect current military personnel to remember to reload firearms during downtimes in the game, and to have a better handle on reload timing during firefights.
That said, I'm enjoying the playthrough so far of one of my favorites games.

you missed a bad a$$ pipe melee right off and you looked right at it right before you laid the plank down.. it was to show you can craft them upgrading them, edit you just seen the upgrade thing hahaaaa i always comment while im watching so i don't forget at the end so scratch that one... you explore pretty good but i noticed when you go out of your way to explore which is good but you miss the things you went out of the way for like your not seeing the Triangle button thing pop up for you to grab it you went by so many things like that... BE THAT LOOT GOBLIN! Just a tip but when you see somethings thats red and says your full you need to see if you can craft anything with that item fill up your inventory full then you can pick it up same as ammo make sure to keep you guns reloaded and topped off so you don't miss ammo when you can hold more if you top your guns off

Remember: clickers are blind, they see using sound and if they start clicking, make sure you are out of 'sight' because they will detect you. If you start shooting (and missing lol, sorry) they will run towards you. I sneaked past half of the infected in that graveyard.
I only watched the first video of you playing this and that was fun. I appreciate that you enjoy the small details in the environments because many people just go "let's just run past everything so we can see cutscenes!" Just by your facial expressions, I can see you're engaged. If you like choice-based, story-focused games, you might try Life is Strange next.

As someone whos been obsessed with this game since it came out I am loving the first reaction to the game. Keep thinking 'oh just wait it gets worse'. I have a firefly tag with my name on it. But I'm ngl that yoinking sound hurts my brain.
If you ever come across a safe without having the code, you can actually pick it by just listening to the clicking sounds. The right number sounds slightly different and with a little bit of practice you can open them pretty fast.
I played the last of us on moderate after not playing any video games for a decade and trust me I was pulling my hair out at the cemetery clicker scene
