Then suddenly, in the wake of George Floyd's death, more WHITE students had questions about racism than blacks! With only a month left of school, teachers were able to put those questions off! But they would have to be addressed in the fall! It was a clear opportunity to raise the amount of black history being taught in our schools Nationwide! Only Republicans couldn't have that, that's why they created all that BS about Critical Race Theory! CRT isn't new, it's been around since the seventies! It's only taught in our highest, most esteemed levels of legal institutions! Now suddenly Republicans have an issue with it?! They can't say they have a problem with teaching more black history, so they call it CRT!

Oh my God, Mr. Freeman is so wise. Every high school student should be required to watch this interview. Your life is what you make it regardless of your beginning. My mother was a single parent raising 5 kids on a motel maid's salary. Our father died when I was 10 and my mother when I was 23. My mother's income combined with after school jobs by myself and my siblings totaled approximately $21,000 a year back in 1979. All 5 kids have come a long way since then and now enjoy an upper middle class income. Thank you Mr. Freeman for saying what needed to be said to all Americans.

With inflation in this country going up and up and no grocery stores, no utility companies, rent/mortgage, no car insurance, etc. being held accountable for raising their prices (just because they can is not a good enough reason), it is a different period of time than when your mother was a single parent in 1979. And prices continue to rise now. Your mother would not have been able to survive in today's society; you & your siblings would have been getting fed at a soup kitchen (and look at the homeless living on the street in this country); that is where you and your family would have been if that had happened to your family now.

I have such admiration for Mr Freeman. His insights are spot on. In this great nation anyone can do whatever they set their mind to and can be whatever they want to be. I can't be a pilot. There are laws against my being a pilot. I cannot drive a school bus. It is illegal for me to drive a school bus. I cannot get a CDL. It is not legal for me to get a CDL. I really respect Mr Freeman, but people who say you have no limitations on what you can be do not know the struggles that people with a 'disabled' label on them can have. I don't see myself as disabled. Other people do and they put labels and limitations on me. It is, certainly, changing. But it will not change for me...Maybe for my children.... Oh, wait, I won't have any. My disability is genetic. It can, and has been, passed down. I can't be a pilot but, isn't it strange? I took over for a private pilot when he had a heart attack. I landed the airplane. Yes, an instructor telling me exactly how to get it onto the runway. But I flew it, all by myself, no instructor, to the airport. I lined it up with the runway. I just did not know how to 'flair' the landing. It DID bounce a little. But I still cannot, nor will I ever be able to, get a pilot's license. Personally, I think these laws are flaky.

Morgan freeman is so right. My brother and lived in poverty as children, I wanted out of the cycle and went to college with help, got a wonderful career and am the middle class. My brother stayed the victim and is now going in and out of the system. He calls for money and I unfortunately won’t help him lest he continue to take advantage. I’m always trying to help in other ways like take him to interviews he misses or just doesn’t “feel like going to”. I love my brother, but his mentality is he is the victim and no one cares. It hurts when I try and all he wants is money. Mental awareness is how I got out of the cycle, I wish my brother and family members could do the same.

As a Tennessee man myself, I know you can do anything you set your mind to no matter in what kinda position you were brought onto this earth in, period!! I am nowhere near as far along in life financially as Mr. Freemon, but I am 35 - 40 years behind him in age ... I will tell you I went form being born way out in the sticks in a rundown trailor to owning my own house, cars and company and I am still pushing not only to better myself, but to encourage others to pull up there boot straps as well and reach for the sky every day!!! I can't word it any better, if you are born in America especially, you can achieve whatever your imagination can come up with but you have to buckle down and put forth the work and effort. And I don't even wanna talk about race because I have never seen a persons color of skin, only the content of there charactor. As a kid I was taken from my family for neglect & child abuse. We had every type of roach in our apartment. Roaches inside the display screens of the microwave & VCR, all kinds of colors. We lived off rice, and got evicted in Chicago. Sleeping in my moms car, before eventually being taken away. Being in a group home in Chicago from 12 to 18. The ones that ran away, like my Brother ended up in prison or dead. I’m not rich, but I’m not poor either. I enlisted in the Navy at 19. I believe anyone can make it. It’s the decisions you make. It’s getting off your butt & not making babies you can’t take care of. My Father left when I was 3 by the way. Me & my siblings abused by my Mothers boyfriends, even molested. My Brother is doing 75 years in Illinois Prison, my Sister committed suicide after her husband molested her 13 year old daughter in Green Bay. They both had kids at young ages and couldn’t afford them. They stole rather than look for jobs. My Sister relied on Men to take care of her & her kids by another man. I’m not rich, but I am middle class with no College education. Just working a production job, and working since I was 16.

I 100% agree with you on the "don't make babies you can't afford" principle. I'm 34, single, never been married cz I dated men who cheated and dumped them. I'm happy to be single if I won't meet a good guy. I don't want kids but won't really mind to at least have one IF I get married to a God-fearing man. I grew up with 7 siblings, mom not working, dad working the mines and coming home broke all the time. We don't know who was getting his money but we can guess because he made kids outside his marriage to my mom. So, I'm not going through what my parents and my younger self and my siblings went through. It Ends With Me. I unfortunately have siblings who are unemployed and have kids. 🤦♀️ Such a shame to repeat the cycle.
I just read your comment and I'm astounded by your history. You nailed the issue on two points. 1) Don't make babies you can't afford to take care of, or that you don't even want. End the cycle. 2) Get out and WORK. You don't have to have a college education. Joining the military was a great option. It probably taught you discipline and courage. And now you have a job that places you in the middle class. In my opinion, you are a great success story that can inspire many, many people. It was gut-wrenching to hear of your early life story, your siblings, your parents. But you made decisions and choices that gave you a good life. I'm so impressed by you. @@brendahopper2215 i definitely had opportunities to go to College. I was a State kid, so Illinois would’ve paid a percentage of my College. Also I paid into the GI Bill & wasted it. I never used it. I just wasn’t into school. I always wanted to work, not take off to go to school. I didn’t know what to go to school for. When I enlisted into the Navy, I had worked at Six Flags in Gurnee Illinois for 3 years, as a cook. Recruiter suggested Cook in Navy because of my prior experience. I just wanted in the military, didn’t care what job.

Morgan Freeman handled the argument about race playing a part of success with grace, ease, fact, class, and dignity.I agree with him wholeheartedly. I never focused on race or played the victim card. I had it tough like Morgan Freeman when I was growing up, but I never let it stop me and I am successful today. I used to pick cotton and prime tobacco in the summertime, in order to put clothes on my back for school in the fall. It's ashame and mockery of Dr Martin Luther King for black people to reverse what he said about race and character.

Freeman is a great actor and an intelligent man, but the way things are slanted against his race, he was lucky to get to where he got to without getting tackled by the higher ups to screw him over. It's not a slam dunk try hard and you'll make it brother . You can try hard and also not make it. Life isn't always fair---there is some luck involved too.
