Good video, Cap! Just a note on radio protocol, since it's been bugging me the last few videos - "Tally" is only used when spotting an bandit/bogey, "visual" is used when spotting a friendly. That way no one freaks out when you say "Tally" and you're only talking about your wingman.

+Mauri Silverman There's no such thing as _'copy'_ or _'affirm(ative)'_ in military radiotelephone. They're neither procedure words after ACP-125 nor NATO multi-service brevity codes after APP. 7(D).
This might be Hollywood-movie talk or is often heard somewhere else, used by several radio services or radio hams. There's only _'Roger'_ which indicates the receipt of a radio transmission (and does not indicate compliance or reaction!) and means _"I have received your last transmission satisfactorily."_ and there's _'Wilco'_ for _"I have received your signal, understand it, and will comply."_ _'Wilco'_ is to be used only by the addressee. Since the meaning of _'Roger'_ is included in that of _'Wilco'_ , the two prowords are never used together.
_'Affirmative'_ or its short versions are never used, for in poor radio conditions it's easily to confuse with _'negative'_ . The correct procedure word for _affirm(ative)'_ is _'Correct'_ , which means _"You are correct"_ or _"What you have transmitted is correct."_ .
And wherever this _'Copy'_ thing comes from, it's not a military term either, maybe invented and (over)used by civilians, Hollywood again, who knows. So, whenever you hear _'affirm'_ or _'copy'_ instead of _'Correct'_ or _'Roger'_ , then you know you're dealing with a layman who can't have served with the forces, at least not in a combat unit. ;)
Next time, you should conduct anvil attacks on a fleet like that. Attack from two different directions with lots of spacing in order to make their countermeasures less effective.

Got any vids where you guys actually sink a carrier? I’ve watched a couple different videos of yours spanning all different types of missions where carriers are involved and I’ve never seen one burn and go down. Are they pretty much impossible to take down?

This is the most epic dcs video I've ever seen. May I suggest in the future when you're having lots of the same type aircraft fight each other, one side use a different camo scheme so help differentiate.

Nice mission designing! Also got something to say about the rb15: it is definitely possible to attack the tomhawk cruisers. According to the briefing, the cruisers are on the front right side of the red fleet, so we can set the Bx7 turning point on that direction, and the missile is going to attack from that direction. Since the cruiser is on the outter ring of the fleet, the missile will definitely lock the cruiser. Also launch rb15 seperately with some delay, that guy suggest this was right.

I attacked the Kusnetsov battle group about a hundred times under "Harpoon". Craploads of harpoon missiles simultaneously from at least two different directions plus two submarines usually did the trick - but as the Kusnetsov BG was the number one prize you got to be prepared to expend everything capable. Quite possible with Nimitz class BG. My biggest concerns were "Shipwreck" missiles by the hundred taking out the Nimitz BG first. A couple of squadrons of F-14B provided eventual total air superiority.

Next time try 2 assault assault teams from two different strike angles to shoot all at once 8 missiles, to strike the carrier group ships.
Like:
2 Viggens assaulting from the left at the carrier group and the other 2 from the right,
both groups timed to shoot at maximum missile range distance where the impact would be
about 3 mins after. (hot phase 2 : 48 when the antimissile guns would try to shoot )!
Prior before shooting the missiles, a full speed group should fly over the carrier group 30 second before the 3 mins impact, specialized in dogging SAM`s and AAA, to apply maximum distraction on the defense and give highest impact chance for the missiles making it through, where the guns would lock at. If they would they would not offer full fire cover cause they would be distracted first of all by the fast flyby and then by the opposite incomings.
In this assault as seen on the clip, the ships had full fire defense on 1 incoming antiship missile.
A ratio of 90% on 10%.

Hey Cap, great video. Your campaign has a singular flaw. Peel this fleet like an onion. Air cover first, sam's next, then hit the destroyers, then the carrier. Very difficult, but achievable, the whiz cover can be defeated by a vertical strike, high altitude bomb drop, sams transmit radar use harm missiles (lock on radar emissions) if you have any. I enjoy your vid's. Keep them coming. Battleaxe.

the problem with the viggen is that they are insisting missiles to attack a ship with so many anti-aircraft you have to shoot at least 8 missiles or more so that at least 2 hit the target.
The RBS-15 have an evation system integrated to Dodge ship defence systems. I do not know however if the RBS-15F is capable of that. I know the RBS-15mk3 does

Hey Cap once the F/A-18C is out and you have some training in it I'd be cool to see this mission redone with the Hornet. Hornets could bounce between A-A and Anti-shipping so that might also help with having the right Airframes for the mission.

The Viggen is literally a dedicated anti-ship platform where as the Hornet can just do anti-ship somewhat.
If the Viggen can't get the job done, a Hornet won't either.
RBS-15 is literally the best ASM usable in DCS, with it's eratic approach profile that can dodge fire and very good targeting computer and radar.
It was simply not enough Viggens and not enough missiles, to be fair, Hornets should be able to carry 4 Harpoons so might stand a better chance of getting through, but not more so than simply having more Viggens.
Agreed, but more people will have the Hornet and having the flexibility to switch from Air-to-Air and then Air-to-Surface will be nice. Thankfully they figured out what when wrong.

Realistically, having double the AShMs per aircraft is huge as is multi-role capability.

for multiplayer 16 gig should be a minimum.DCSWORLD 2.5 suffers from memory leaks at this stage and they are busy fixing it.
OK...I am new to this. I am a Cessna 172- pilot from Norway. I must say...watching your videos got me, my favorite English word..Flabbergasted! :) Anyway...I MUST get into this. What do I need? Regarding hardware for fantastic graphic and software. I do know you professionals cant go into detail but give me a link do do my research. And I will be back entering your squadron in a jet-powered Cessna with Norwegian missiles for use on sea campaigns. I promise..Norwegian missiles kicks ass!!! Multiplayer or single?If it's single, and on version 2.5 then it's usually bad harddisk. I had a faulty SSD which caused this.
Do you use Ace Combat music in your vids, I am almost 100% sure you do, which makes sense, because holy hell, that music is great.

Really cool video but it would be a lot better if you got the audio issues fixed. They really ruin the whole thing. Main issues I heard was others voice and the scraping noise when following missiles, even muted would be better then the missile noise imo. Looking forward to watching more!

Good video as usual - and the mission set up was not too bad either. BUT no fleet will ever be lying still in the water, so next time let them move with a speed matching the slowest.
I know Cam, it's just limitations of DCS 2.5 that we have to work with.
Just make slowest ship and route, then copy it and change the copied ships as you like and they travel nicely side by side.

Also, why not use F/A-18’s with Harpoons. Just seems like it’s a lot harder to hit. I probably don’t know anything anyways, I’m just a curious idiot.😂
AJS has some A-A ability with RB-74/24 sidewinder-type missiles and RB-05A radio controlled proxy fused wep. It's only closed range visual stuff.
This is many years before we had Harpoon or even the planes to fire them.
