Love my sporty for ripping around the curvy roads around home, riding hard. I want to eventually get a bagger as well for cruising with the wife. Best of both worlds

I recently bought a 2004 883 ( my 20th bike and 3rd Sportster) coming off a couple decades riding Road Kings. After 55 years of riding and turning 73 those big great bikes were getting too much for me. I am impressed with this 883. It runs great. Perhaps someone put a 1200 kit in it, if they did previous owner didn't know it. Nearly everything I would do on a Sportster was already done so, there ya go. I do need to put a windshield on it, I just can't handle the wind anymore

I went from a 2010 Sportster 1200 to a 2023 Lowrider ST last year. The only reason I did that was I crashed my Sporty. If I could have had the choice I would have kept my Sportster along with the new bike. The Sportster is small if you want to tour or ride two up but for a single rider it’s great. That was definitely the most fun bike I have ever owned and I will be getting another one.

Hell yeah man. Glad you’re still riding too! And completely agree. They’re so nimble compared to other bikes

I had an 06 883l which i traded for a 18 heritage 114. Personally i think the sportster was a better bike for me. For many of the same reasons you pointed out. I had done the basic 1250 hammer kit. Reaper cams. I changed out the fork internals to the 883r internals with racetec springs. Ricor intiminators and 13.5" rear shocks. Night and day difference in performance and handling. I even swapped in the 4.5 gallon tank and the "international" transmission sprocket for better highway cruising. I eventually drank the cool aid and started to believe a bigger bike would somehow be better. My heritage has never been as fun or , believe it or not, as comfortable as that sporty was for me. I just recently paid off my heritage and am plotting on getting back on a sporty but liquid cooled this time. Your right. The sportster is the best bike Harley makes.

Hell yeah, man! That is a sweet story and a testament to how good of a bike this Forster is. Hope you get back on one soon, but until then, at least you still have a pretty sweet bike.

Sporty's are always epic, with so many aftermarket parts you can turn it into anything. Now hurry up and go home!

@@RidinDad my mate is selling us his. its for my wife but i love riding it. I helped tune it with the TT software. got a custom airbox fot it and bassani 2:1 exhaust. and with the thrashing bars it almost suits my seating preference but as said its for the wife and she loves the look. saddleman has a seat for it and its an improvement. Ive had it on the track and on country roads and can ride it all day.
me well i started my hd journey on the 2020 fxlrs it fcuked up with a ballbearing disslodging inside the rear head. long story short cnuts at harley refused to warranty it so I upgraded it to a 128 up during that time learned to tune it even though i did have another bloke tune it on the dyno ended up being a clubstyle bike with a power plant producing just shy of 140/140. the bike just didnt give up, for example i could be riding in 4th gear at 100km/hr id rollon the throttle to wide open and the bike would accelerate off the clock that means in our metric beyond 220km/hr. it was a bit of a monster. now i see moonshinebharley has bolt on kits for 175 hp plus. i fid not feel comfortable riding past 220km felt like you had to wrestle with it to turn. any i sold it last summer and now im riding/building an FXR 80" evo. not remotely in the same ballpark regarding raw grunt but nonetheless just as much fun and it handles, i think, better well besides the old decrepit stock brakes are not particularly effective and it looks like its going to cost another €10k just to get a decent frontend setup and suspension allround not to forget the brakes. I
started looking into suspension to find the best value for money not just the supposed popular brand and wholly jfc so many peeps all of a sudden become an expert on the subject but few if any can explain the physics of why X brand is better than Y. so i bought the race tech suspension bible - mate I highly recommend the read especially if you are going to improve your sporty's ride. i tend to attack a corner rather than mosie into them and the next time i take the same corner im often looking to improve my approach to the apex and i cant stand hd's somewhat soft if not flimsy front shockies.
oh fcuk sorry this turned into a bit of a yarn. my point was i too did the "down grade" at least power-wize to a 1989 fxr with a stock 80" evo and comparing it - the 1989 fxr - to our 2016 xl883n, 2020 fxlrs 114 (128) and 2009 xr1200 obviously its a tad underpowered as stock 80" but it is such a joy to ride. thanks for your videos i enjoyed them.
