I had to go out and get to trucking again before the new year rolls around. I am super pumped and nervous and have a million feelings all at once. I have so much on my plate, but the road is calling so I am going to have to try to figure it all out while I haul OTR. Thank you for sticking with me. I am continuing to vlog every day still and I just had a bit of a hick up in having time to edit and post. So here is the long awaited vlog for day 4 and 5. Day 3 is in the works currently. We've got this! Not too long left.

Get yourself a gas station type window squeegee; the all plastic kind. That, and a spray bottle filled with water and a few drops of regular dawn dish soap mixed in. No paper towels needed and spotless glass with very little effort. Works like a charm even with heavy salt buildup. Store the spray bottle inside with your other cleaning stuff and keep the squeegee in your side box. 👍😎👍

that or BELOW ZERO window-washer in the spray bottle if in the thick of winter.
I ditched glass cleaner a long time ago for this method. Old t-shirt rags/shop towels for tidying up the edges after squeegee-ing, or use for any other messes, and throw the load of dirty ones in the washer to re-use. Saves money in the long term.

Be safe and never panic as you know. Find safe place to park and either Google place you're looking for, if GPS doesn't get you there, or if number and can actually get somebody that can help you get directions is another option. You've been driving long enough you know this. Hope helped some! 😉

Is one of the most aggravating parts of this job, loosing time looking around for the correct building around the right address. cold and rainy, then road conditions slowed you down, I could see it, not fun. Glad you made it safe and a drop and hook 👍 You need a squeegee, I'm short too, 5'0" 😁 I need all the help I can get cleaning those windows efficiently, before freezing

There's nothing I hate more in life than being lost/not knowing where I'm going so props to you and all truckers that have to deal with looking for the place you're going to! Also, I still dream of the day where we can buy Bright Mountain merch, love both the hat and the hoodie ☺Oh and for the glass, glass cleaner is the best but never tried any of that canned stuff so I can't say but the regular cleaner does a pretty good job!

Dakota anxious and in your seat? She knows that you are not feeling good and she is protecting you. Glass cleaner, find an Amway dealer, or maybe on the internet, look for See Spray. Their version of glass cleaner. It's amazing and your glass will not fog up afterwards even in the shower if you had a mirror nearby it doesn't fog. Big hug for Dakota. Looking great, those dang warehouses look confusing because they all look the same. They need to put numbers on them. LOL
100% agree about the brand of glass cleaner. It was great when I used it 40yrs ago, didnt know it was still being produced. Stay safe on your journeys.
Use vinegar, it helps cut through the road salt, I use 50-50 water vinegar, the windex with vinegar also works kinda

You have to love going in the Freeport Center. I work out of a yard in Freeport West. I avoid the main Freeport like the plague. With all the trailers sticking out in the roadway and the railroad tracks crushing your spine, that place is a nightmare.😩

I used a few different things while driving, I hate not being able to see well..
But I found what I think is the best EVER..
I bought the tool set for window tinting and the little squeegee that comes with it, it’s the best yet, but you gotta make sure that you get the one that looks like the bigger squeegees at the gas stations… The best part is for my mirrors, it fits perfectly for them, one swipe down and clean as can be.. I even do my driver side mirror while driving, it’s that quick and easy..

I used to hate getting lost looking for the shipper or receiver. For me it was the worse feeling I could have. GPS now makes it so much more easier. A lot of the pressure is off of you. Never fails it’s raining when you have to get out of the truck and you can’t get close enough so you get drenched, being 40 degrees doesn’t help either. Caffeine is great for headaches! Coffee is good and so is a pop and lots of water. Hope it helps the next time you have one! Also, use newspaper when cleaning your windows. Regular windex and wipe them clean with newspaper!

Your good attitude seems to carry you through the hard deliveries, alone times, and pounding headache. Dakota being at your side helps you cope. Thanks for sharing the tough delivery and wasted time because your paperwork lacked a phone number to call. Yikes! One little phone number wudda' saved you hours of searching. You handled the glitch well.
Water and a small squeegee is all I use on windows and mirrors. You're a hard worker Ms. Shelby, take care of yourself girl. God Bless
I am sitting at a consignee in north carolina..been in the dock now 6 hours and counting..thankfully I live in my truck so I'm prepared..I hope you feel better soon

"All my socks I have left... Halloween socks... need to buy more" reminded me of.... 😄 One way I know I need to buy more clothes (like socks & underwear) is: I can pick up and hold the ENTIRE load of dirty laundry with ONE hand, and the only other thing I have left is the ones I'm wearing. 😛

If my windows are that dirty I spray it down with window cleaner and use a squeegee and than a dry paper towel .

what i use is a wet magic eraser followed by a microfiber towel to dry then use invisible glass cleaner (get it at advance auto) with a microfiber towel, safe travels
Hope you are doing ok.
What I did was purchase an expandable wands like at the truck stops to wash my windows and squeegie them. I use rubber gloves, neoprene big enough to to put my winter gloves into, and wet down the sponge part with windshield washer fluid. Then I wash the windows, even the front ones from the ground. I have to tilt the hood forward. When I am done, I squeeze out the remaining windshield washer and place expandable wand in my lower side box. It will not freeze because I used windshield washer to ckean the windows. I do not get streams either. I hope this helps! Happy New Year

I know it's got to be tough to do more of a vloging video. I'm sure it's alot of extra work and hard cause we're human and life's not always dealing is rose's but I like these type of videos.
Great video and some deliveries were info is bad for the location can give you a head ache, especially on the first run in a while lol
If you have overnight headaches. It might actually be a migraine, ive found the pedialyte does wonders, i always keep one in the fridge for those kind of days
I get nasty headaches sometimes too, and I've found that a great remedy is extra strength Goody powders. Basically just powdered aspirin, but it works great for me. Maybe keep some in your truck?
Use waffle weaved microfiber towels. Use one to clean the window cleaner off and then use a second waffle weaved towel to buff off the rest no streaks. Because them streaks at night time bother the crap out of me 😂

The base had storage at Freeport center I use to have to bring loads from base there. They said get in that truck go here not asked if I was licensed or not to drive the truck lol but this was back in 92 we just done our job

Just regular old Windex (not the ammonia free) is the best window cleaner I've used. I hate the stuff they sell in the cans at every auto place. Leaves too many streaks, impossible to get squeaky clean. I also keep a bottle of bug and tar remover, and occasionally will spray the windshield with it, and it gets all of the bugs and other little specs off the window. It basically works to "super clean" it, and as a bonus, leaves a residue film that works as Rain-X.
Get those streaks off your window just take a dry paper tile and rub it like if you We're polishing
I have always wondered how you navigate those really big shippers complexes and now I know it can be a nightmare by the looks of it. Really hope your headache when away and the coffee helped. Glad your autofocus is working again. The rain makes such a mess your of truck. Is that salt spray on the windows? The scenery on the road looks absolutely amazing.

Not cool of them to keep you waiting around for 4 hours, but it all worked out. And girl, you can move! lol just kidding. I know you sped up the footage to save time. You might want to buy a squeegee and keep it in your truck for when you have to clean the windows. I don't know if it will help prevent streaks but it will be easier. Anyway, Happy New Year and be safe out there.

Cold rain is about as miserable as it gets. Not the worst driving or most dangerous, but when you get out into the weather, it just sucks. I don't envy you that. Trying to find an address that is ... all screwed up is the pits; combine that with cold rain as you go from door to door trying to do your job is really awful. I love it when people give directions that work for a pickup, but there is no way to get a semi in there on that route. Been there. Had to take street signs out of the ground to get in and out of a delivery. Ugh. And although google and other map programs are usually helpful, but when they are wrong, they are really wrong.
Working things out in your mind while driving? Been there too. You can have a lot of time to think as you go. How far do you get to go from Reno? As long as it is east a bunch, you should do ok. I never cared for those shorter runs - too much time wasted loading and unloading. I found them more stressful and tiring. Damn. Sometimes I miss the road.

Hey Shelby do you ever get scared driving a truck up mountains? Yesterdday was going up a moutain range here in jamaica,behind a truck and the more narrow the roads got i thought maaaaan this is sketchy, we overtook the truck and hauled ass 😂

I always carry a bottle of windex and lots of white square towels, put the dirty ones in a plastic shopping bag. If all 25 get used, it’s time for laundry towels, socks, undies, and masks 😷

Well you have alway trusty Dakota as your road pilot if you can´t see the oncoming trafic, or when you need parking assistance.
