But this song is a perfect choice, as my two sons both sang a solo part of this masterpiece when they were in high school, 6 years apart from one another. Obviously most people here are already boygenius fans but I hope this collab encourages some more people to check out Ye Vagabonds as well; they are one of the finest folk acts around right now and like most traditional folk acts are deeply, deeply underrated. I'd recommend starting with their version of Lowlands Of Holland or Blue Is The Eye, both of which really showcase their expert instrumentation and beautiful harmonies, it my not be the genre of music you're used to but I promise you will not find the level of artistry and musicianship lacking.

(I love that Julien did the 'fair maid in this town who surely has my heart beguiled' verse, which a lot of people don't perform for one or another reason; I like it better than the "a man may court a pretty lass" one that often gets put at the end). It's the anniversary of the death of a friend (well, yesterday) and I just found out about the loss of a family friend as well -- and it's a month full of those anniversaries. This time of year is hard and I've been thinking a lot. I've always thought of The Parting Glass as a song about goodbyes, including death, but that celebrates life, and it was good to hear. And I think is an excellent choice for remembering Sinead O'Connor/Shuhada' Sadaqat .
