    Been using Griots Garage products for over 10 years. They are an excellent company with outstanding products. Pretty much my "go to" for equipment and solutions for car detailing. Favorite hobby with thier products. Great video!

    Griots also had a problem with the trigger on they're G9, had to return it for another one, bought another one that did the same soon 2 hours, I got my money back from Autozone, too bad because it was super smooth, I'll buy one more, I spoke with Griots and said they were aware of the problem and corrected it.

    I just bought one from Griot's. They're a great company. Gave me a military discount and threw in a free bottle of speed shine.

    Can you attach 5” backplate on the G8????

    I was looking at these. Saw a different brand that came with extensions and was wondering how it would do sanding and buffing woodturning projects

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  Před 3 lety

      That's a great question. I would assume it would do very well. Wood projects are typically going to have a coarser (rougher) finish than a car, so you definitely need one with power and that doesn't stall (pad quits turning). This is one of the best for performance, especially for the $$. FLEX makes an awesome polisher that would work well also, but the price will be quite different. Thanks for watching.

    I have this machine. Its powerful and works. I don't think it will hold up to daily use though for professionals IMHO like a flex or rupes. I think the trigger would give out after some extended usage on mine at least. Probably the most noticeably lack of quality on my machine. But it could just be my machine. I usually lock the trigger right away. I don't take advantage of the variable trigger. Speed 5 is my go to. Its a fun machine.

      We do understand that the triggers were problems on early machines, but Griots told us that they fixed this problem in a rolling change on the same models, during manufacturing. Our G9 gets used 5 (usually 6) days a week, all day long. It's the go-to machine for Chase. No issues whatsoever. Thanks for watching.

      Will you please use the updated version for daily use like shop tool and then comment from experience vs. opinion or what you think may or may not happen and let us all know your personal results? That would be much more of an informative post for us looking to make this decision.

      I want this machine for my Road Glide. I own a 7424xp and a ryobi da 18v.
      I only detail my own vehicles but I have the nicest shine and hydrophobic paint of anyone I know in my day to day life.

    This comes with a 2 inch backing plate now and even has a 1 inch extention with hook and loop

      @@Shoptoolreviews The 1 inch backing plate extension is not included. Only the 2 inch backing plate, still cool nonetheless

    When do you use the smaller buffer? I just bought the G9

    • @TechCrazy
      @TechCrazy Před rokem

      For smaller areas surrounded by other parts or trim where a g9 pad would be big. The least you could use with G9 is a 5 inch pad so this 3 inch comes in handy.

      I have a G9 and G8 i use the 9 for larger flat areas. My G8 is great for small areas with a lot of curves. I’m actually correcting Gelcoat on a boat with G8 Rupes Blue Coarse foam and 3M Heavy cut. One pass gets me 90 percent do another set and 97 percent perfection.

    was going to buy the Adams sk micro polisher for its ability to do interior parts, but all the complaints I've read about it stalling easy worries me, this seems a bit too big though for interior parts, have you tried it on woodgrain panels or piano finish parts? does it come with pads when you buy it? can you use it with a 2" or 1" backing plate? I'm a newbie, this would be my first polisher purchase, thanks

    • @Golfkid3
      @Golfkid3 Před rokem +1

      You may have figured this out already but..they did release a 1 inch extension along with pads, so that is now an option for even tighter areas. Finishing polish on piano black should be no problem. Just be sure to keep the machine moving since a smaller area causes more heat.
