In this video I walk through the assembly of the Universal Router Table and installation of the R163(g)K router in it. I was interested in how they went together so I shot this vid to share. Enjoy. Apologies up front for the shakiness of this video, I shot it entirely on my phone and uploaded with no editing.
Very helpful! Even 5 years on. Was able to help my hubs who is directions phobic. 😂
Thanks! For the time and step by step explanation, a great video.
Enjoyed your video, I just bought the same router table so your video helped. BE SAFE GOD BLESS!🇺🇲🙏❤
I just purchased one of these today and just like yours the height adjustment tool is not included with the table or the router; however you can make the adjustments from above the table by drilling the hole in the insert just large enough to fit a 3/16 nut driver through. works great.

This is a great idea! There may be a diy adjustment tool video on the horizon to do just that.
Just bought this set up looks like it will be fine for my use thanks
I was wondering what material the insert plate is made of, turns out it's some kind of plastic. thanks for clarifying that in your video.
Hey, Sparky, I've got a plunge router connected underneath and can't seem to get that thing raised up high enough to use ANY of the router bits. Is there a crank or a lift for this table that can adjust the bits?? HELP!
What model number and brand router are you using?
If its the RE180PL(1) plunge router from Ryobi, there seems to be some issues getting the springs compressed enough to get the tool high enough out of the table to be functional. If there is a sub base plate on your router, it should be removed before being attached to the adapter plate (regardless of model/brand). There is also an optional adjustment knob available that could make it easier to adjust while installed in the table (Help overcome the spring tension). I will post a video on how to order that part soon. I have not seen a Lift specifically built for this table yet, sorry, but i will continue my research. Hopefully this is helpful.
Hey Thrift Diving, I had the same problem connecting Ryobi plunge router R180PL1 to the Ryobi Universal Router Table. I just called the Ryobi helpline and found out that they are not compatible. The R180 is listed on the table's "assembly" list, but only because the holes match. The rep said you wouldn't get any depth due to the springs on the plunge router and suggested getting a fixed one. hope this helps!
@Molly and @Sparky - Yep, that's the plunge router I have! It's good to it doesn't work. I'll get a fixed router! Thanks so much, guys!
Sparky's HakShak l
i know it is kinda randomly asking but does anybody know a good website to watch new series online?
Saved me some time, thanks buddy.
Thanks Badger!
Nice video helped out could do south out gum chewing though
Very helpful thank you thank you
Thank you.
Btw Sparty, it's more that half of year past already after your review.
Can you tell pros and cons about this table from your experience.
Decent information for the video quality it is but I’m just wondering if your dentures are loose or you’re chewing gum or hard candy? It made it hard to listen the longer the video went. By the end it’s all I can hear.
Understand completely, the overall info was deemed more worthy to retain instead of just deleting it. I did shoot a few other video's hoping to atone for the sins of chewing gum. Hopefully you'll find them useful and easier to listen too. Thanks for the feedback and good luck on your projects!
Thank you!
YOU DON'T NEED TO DRILL ANY HOLES....NO NO NO...All the parts are already there!
why don't you get someone to help you hold the camera. it is very frustrating to watch a demo like this.
+BOBBY OMAR then don't watch it
Heysus f-ing Krist ... drop the camera and use two hands!!!!
+Doublethizzle I have to agree with you. It seems like our buddy here bought a router table and decided to shoot a video without any preparations.
Hey Sparky -thanks. How are we supposed to go back and forth between table-mount and "freehand" ?
I'm glad you asked! I am in the process of mapping out an update to this video. Your question will be covered in it. Please stay tuned for the update, and above all, thank you for your support and questions. If you have any others let me know so i can get them all rolled up in the update.
Thanks Spark!
Just wanted to let you know, video 3 covers the back to freehand procedure you asked about.

Hope it helps.
What's the deal with the rusted clamp?
Ha, I'm assuming you are pointing out my scavenged vise-grip type clamp at around 21:31... yeah its what i have. A little WD40 brought it back to life, so I'm still using it.
sorry I couldn't finish your video, that gum chewing/smacking was annoying the hell out of me.
Dude finish eating whatever you’re chewing first before you record your talking. It’s super annoying
Totally agree! What a noob i was. Hopefully you took the time to check out the other series I put together to make up for how annoying that was. Thanks for the feedback and good luck on your projects!
So it wont hold my Skil router since it doesn't name it?
taxfree4, I just pulled up the manual for the Table and it does list 2 Skil models, the 1810 (fixed) and the 1825 (fixed/plunge). says they both use the 10-32 x 5/8 in fasteners, in A2, A4, and A6 holes on the adapter plate.
sparky18301 thanks for the info, I bought one but it didn't fit my Skil 1817, the holes lined up but the screws provided were too big for the routers so I brought it back. I'll have to with the Skil router table and get hosed for $60 more, thanks again
can i use the plunge router on this?
+Hesir Marquez
If it's the R180PL others have found out that it does not work well. The manual says it fits, and gives the bolt/pattern but the plunge feature makes it difficult to get depth to cut properly. One commented that they called the helpline and ryobi recommended getting a fix base model, because of the limited depth issues. I am not sure about other brand plunge routers, sorry. Hope this helps.
Sparkys HakShak alright thanks you. I'm probably going to return mines and get the fixed one with the table.
Having a tripod for the camera or phone might help with that disorganized video shooting..lol
Totally agree! One of the unfortunate side effects of being a complete newbie. I would encourage you to watch the other videos where I tried to better organize and stabilize the content. Thanks for your feedback! I hope you find the info you are looking for, Good Luck and stay safe!
@@SparkysHakShak No worries, thanks for posting and the detail instructions. I am about to buy one of those. Cheers F
Guy’s gum chewing in mildly annoying
Aw, Thanks for being nice, but it was quite Annoying, sorry. Hopefully you found what you were looking for, if not, don't forget to check out the other router videos.
Sorry so annoying headache
+Andrew Huang
Completely agree. That is exactly why I made the updated video series! I hope you can find the information you need in those other videos. Good luck on your projects.
I can read it too. Seriously? No help whatsoever.
