    This was one of the most helpful videos I have seen. I was able to do both of these to my router table. However, I did manage to break the top off of the height adjustment screw. But I took it off and ground a slot into it, so now, instead of the t-handle, I use a flathead driver. Thank you so much for the great info.

    Thanks for the info. I have the same Ryobi router table and never had a problem changing the bit from the top side. however, I did have the run the router all the way up and push the locking mechanism. Now, this t-handle will make it a lot easier to adjust the height, without having to turn the nob on the router, which always was a pain as well.

      Daniel Stavely I tried to make this method work with the black spindle lock mechanism in place but I couldn’t. So I removed it, but I failed to mention it in the video.

    Thanks for the info, I have a porter cable router connected, after watching you, I was able to put one wrench underneath to hold and then used a deep socket to unscrew nut. Thanks for making me think.

    Thanks for the video! Couldn't find the T Wrench on amazon anymore (sold out maybe). Amazon did have a nut driver with a traditional screw driver handle. Search for '3/16-Inch Magnetic Nut Driver with 6-Inch Shaft and Cushion Grip Handle Klein Tools 646-3/16M'. It has a long shaft and the handle of this model is yellow and black. I used it this morning on the ryobi router table with a ryobi fixed base router and it worked. It was a little tough to get the tip of the driver through the router plate. Just wiggle it in or make the hole a bit larger and you're good!

    Great information and I've got the T-handle ordered already. One thing I did try. The 9/16" wrench works well, but if you have a metric set, the 13mm wrench is an even better fit on the spindle. Either work, but if you have metric instead of SAE then the 13mm will work well.

    Great information that helped me out a lot in setting up my router table with ryobi router. Thanks

    The router has a built in quick spindle lock eliminating the need for a second wrench for bit changes & also has a quick release button/lever on the micro adjust eliminating the need to turn the knob excessively for larger adjustments .

      @NotThatMattNagy  Před 4 lety

      William Dumore Globz The built-in spindle lock is almost impossible to manipulate by hand when the router is mounted in the table. That’s why I removed it so I could have unfettered access to the spindle from a comfortable height. As for the quick release button, you’re right, and sometimes I use it to bottom the router out before popping off the throatplate to change bits, but not always.

      I actually completely forgot to mention in the video that you have to remove the black spindle lock that came on the router for this method to work. Hopefully its apparent from the video though.

    Is this table compatible with the ryobi plunge base router?
    Can I do above the table height adjustments?

  • @Dznytoy

    A 3/16" t-handle wrench to do the same thing.

      Jarred Church I had no idea those even existed. Where can you buy them? If you give me a link I can put it in the description.

      @@NotThatMattNagy 3/16" T-Handle Nut Driver is the common name or another option is use a 1/4" drive socket with extension. Affix the socket underneath the table plate.

    does the baseplate has an 1-3/4” x 2-3/16” bolt spacing combination?

    Your T wrench idea is nice but your bit changing isn't necessary. The router bit can be removed with 1 wrench and pushing in the lock.

    Which ryobi router is this?
    I have the ryobi plunge router but it's not the best for using on the router table

    So quick question: I am looking to buy this table to go with the Ryobi router I already have and my router has the clamp lock mechanism on it to lock in height adjustments. is that pemanantly left open so that the adjustments can be made top-side?

    • @NotThatMattNagy
      @NotThatMattNagy  Před 4 lety +1

      Justin Johns If we’re thinking of the same thing, answer is no: just reach under the table, unclamp the mechanism, make the height adjustment, and then reach under and re-clamp it.
