Hello Steve; Like the Green Light funk-e-studious soundtrack. Tom Petty enjoyable musical career. Good to find much needed records. Take care, Tina &Pat!~
I spent so much money in that store. I went to Kalamazoo once a month for work and I would force myself to not go in, I knew it would end badly for my pocketbook lol
Good filming, nice and slow so we can ficus in on the good stuff ! Nice shop.. Flip video's are the best, its easy to zone out and soak up the titles..🎵
Some stores are so hard to do a flip video. I was just in a Colorado store, the buns were too tight making it so difficult. Green Light is a great store, I really got some incredible albums there
I pull the records out from the front of the bin carefully.. To respect the store, then.. Start flippin' with enough space to see the records 😇
Best stuff you have ever flipped through in a shop.
I saw all that Sun Ra and did that for you! That is an awesome store that has cost me a ton of bucks
Wow, great shop Steve, looks like they have a fantastic assortment of nicely presented records. Thanks.
Ken, I have bought so much from this shop when I traveled to that town, very dangerous place to my pocket book
Great video. You can never go wrong with Tom Petty. Quick story on Tom. He is the reason I got back into seeing lots of live shows again. I work in the movie industry and have always been really busy. So I let that get in the way of seeing live music events. But Tom Petty I loved so I decided to go see him at the Hollywood Bowl. I had the tickets ready to go and all I had to do was hit enter on the keyboard. But I sat there for an hour and talked myself out of it cause I was busy. I thought well I will just see him next time around. Turns out he died days after that concert. I never forgave myself for not getting those tickets. I never got to se him live. And because of that I never hesitate anymore to hit that enter key on purchasing concert tickets. Life is potentially short my friend. Be sure to enjoy it.
Wow, that is an incredible story, so sad but it happens to all of us. I will be able to do it next time but there is no guarantee of a next time is there. What a great life lesson. I appreciate you sharing that, really sad. Work gets in the way of so much
Holy crap, Steve!! Does anyone shop at this store? How could so many amazing titles and rare OG pressing be in left in that inventory?! Johnny Hammond, George Russell (that’s one of Bill Evan’s early recordings as a side man) Luther Allison on the wall with Michael White, Maceo on Excello, James Brown with The JBs Pass The Peas, Amad The Awakening, Dolphy At The Five Spot, Bernie Worrell, Jack, Pharo, so much Sun-Ra!!! I would go broke in there! What an amazing selection. Tom Petty and OMD are great additions to a nutritious collection. Thanks for sharing that great store with us, Steve.
Steve, I visited Kalamazoo once a month for work but I tried to stay away from that store, every time e I went in they had incredible albums. I always left spending at least a few hundred dollars. I don’t know where they got all their inventory but it is an amazing place with great people.
Thanks Steve. You showed a rare Waylon Jennings album at Green Light that I didn't that I didn't even know that I wanted! - Chris
No way, I had know idea I showed a rare Jennings album. That store always has amazing stuff at a decent price Chris
That’s an impressive wall! I’ve never seen that Bernie Worrell title. That’s a huge store. Lots of great soul. Take care, Steve
That store is so darn dangerous Mark but the things I have bought there are fantastic. I limited my visits as it always cost me a lot of money lol
Hi Steve - That Dawn Of The Dead soundtrack is awesome ! 🧟♂️ 🧟♀️ By The Goblins. Great tag line to the film " When There Is No Room Left In Hell , The Dead Shall Walk The Earth " Let's Go Yankees !
I actually thought about picking that up though I never have seen the movie. I found an OG Daydream Nation so my money went there. David, hmmm Yankees. Just can’t do that my friends. I’ll stick with those Tigers, I like disappointment
Looks like a cool store! Lots of hard to find albums. Yes, you could easily spend all your money there! Looking forward to seeing the record stores in Colorado.
I love this store Michael, it is incredible what I have found there and what I have left behind. Prices were always fair. I usually hit the collectible racks and then had no money for anything else lol
Steve, yea Green Light Records looks awesome. Ton of great stuff you can tell. Nothing jumped out at me like that Bang Tango in the other store. I’m sure with enough digging I would find a long sought after record. I saw Elder Reflections of a Floating World which is a great one but I got most of their stuff. Other stoner stuff in those bins also. I did see Metal cd section that would be great to flip through. Have a great day. Peace ☮️ Namaste 🙏 the Zonkman
Can you believe I missed flipping through the metal CDs Steve! What is my problem? lol. Elder Reflections of a Floating World, what the heck kind of name is that. Sounds like prog to me. This is a great little store
Some cool stuff in that store Steve, the live Burning Spear album you paused over is a good one, I have it on CD. He's on my bucket list of videos to do, with most of his album discography in my collection. Surprised you did not avail yourself of some of that spiritual jazz!
lol, me and spiritual jazz. I made sure I filmed that group of r3cords as I know a few of the people that watch my videos are really into it. I almost did buy that Burning Spear album Doug
Hey Steve!
Nice Greenlight footage! I can tell it’s from awhile back as they’ve done a little rearrange in the store and the recent arrival section is different
Take care Brian ☮️
lol Brian, I did it the last week of February. The stuff that store gets in is totally amazing. Thank you for turning me on to them Brian though it did cost me a small fortune lol
Cool store Steve. Looking forward to those Colorado record stores. Cheers.
Things are settling down now Jack, who knows maybe I will hit my third store!
This is my local store. I get most of my records there and order through them.
Great folks working there.
Roger, that place is outstanding. I loved to go there when I was working in town but I limited my visits because it always cost me a lot of money due to all the great stuff
Love the posters on the wall. Its a nice and roomy store. Southern Accents is the only one I don't have on vinyl (along with Let Me Up), but I am not going to pay more than $10 on it since I have it on CD. Its a very good album.
I love you Kris, I won’t pay more than $10 for it. You do very well sticking to your guns where I suddenly jump off the deep end thinking money is no object lol. You’ll retire a rich man and I’ll retire poor but happy with expensive record albums that no one no longer wants haha
i have that petty lp,just sold his long after dark lp.I always realy liked let me up and your gonna get it
I also really like Let Me Up Chester. I use to have all his stuff, now I just buy what I really feel I will listen to
Steve it had been years since i stopped in to this store. Based on your video i stopped in saturday when i was down in kzoo and ended up with 8 records
That store has had such amazing records, it is one of my favorite places in MI. I don’t know how they get this stuff but the finds I have got there are amazing.
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 i will need to stop down more often
Another awesome tour! IMHO, although I like that track, there are better OMD records! Keep going 🙂
Others have said that also about OMD but I love Forever Live Or Die! I don’t know, I don’t know I don’t know whhhyyy!
Loved the RS and the selection was amazing. Also the accompanying music was cool too. Do you recall the group? Thank goodness I don't live close to that RS 😊.
lol Greg, the music just comes off YT in the editor section. I don’t think it even gives an artist, it’s just there to cover up the music that would keep the video from being monetized. The RS is fantastic!
Great stuff at Green Light. You showed the Sun Ra section twice just to torture me, didn't you?
Michael, I know you and Dave, The Vinyl Ambassador love Sun Ra so I did make sure I flipped through his stuff. I must have liked it also to show it twice Michael
I can remember looking at that Tom Petty album in 86 or 87 at Moby Disc in Sherman Oaks. I think it was probably 3.99 (used records were divided up into price amounts) and I couldn't make up my mind whether it was worth it. I went in the store a lot and looked at it a lot.. Not sure if I ended up buying it. I sure hope I did.
lol, now you don’t go into the store and look, you just leave with a crate of records instead. I passed on it when it originally came out, wasn’t into Petty. That changed in the 90s and his album were very cheap
I loved 'Forever Live and Die' too. It was their poppier mid/late 80's era, but is a cracking song. Their hits album from that time is worth checking out. Albumwise though, I prefer their earlier Kraftwerk-y type stuff. Not sure whether the early stuff cracked the US? Thinking it was the John Hughes movie type thing that broke them there? Here in the UK, it was Enola Gay that introduced most people to them.
I do know the song Enola Gay, very good song. I really am not that familiar with their catalog Shaun but I use to have a few CDs of theirs. A greatest Hits would be a good way for me to go with them I think
I know I should not talk about this but the last OMD album Bauhaus Staircase is one of the best albums of last year... and then we also bought the RSD 2024 version of the album that is instrumental and that is realy good too.
Now you have me interested, I do know the song Enola Gay but I don’t know a whole bunch about the band
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 :) try to stream the song "Don´t Go" from the new album.... my wife loves the new album.
I used to hear the word pigf7ck at the radio station in the early 90s from the older DJs. Usually they were referring to Minneapolis or Chicago bands like early AMREP stuff, Lotta really weird stuff influenced by the Butth Surfers that was a little too weird to be regular punk or Hardcore. I think Christgau might have been asking... whats in the puppet...lol😂
See how much I’m learning That was just such an odd expression to use, a million ways to describe something and they come up with that. Music beyond classification Shawn!
I didn’t realise they was actually a place called Kalamazoo!!...I thought it was fictional like Hogwarts! 😆 I going to have to rethink everything! Never seen that OMD?
Isn’t that a great name for a town. I really blew it not getting a T Shirt saying Kalamazoo. There really is a place also called Tippacanoe which rhymes nicely with Kalamazoo. I’m pretty sure Hogwarts is real to Hilton.
Wow that Audrey Horne album I would bought (though still quite pricy). Good Swedish rock.
mr. Finglish (Bäd English Recs)
A last name of Horne does not sound very Swedish. It should be Horneson! I missed out on another good album Mr Finglish
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Maybe. ;) I'd love to see them live again.
I could lose track of time in that store for sure
It is a wonderful spot that cost me a lot of money but created many smiles
I like Tom Petty but I don’t have any of his albums. That OMD album is pretty late in their discography. I don’t think I’ve heard it.
I have had a lot of people recommend other OMD albums. This one was more poppy I think. Richie Petty was not someone I immediately liked probably because my younger brother liked them. It was more straight forward rock while I was into stuff like the Talking Heads and B 52s
I almost drowned in my own saliva there Steve. What an amazing record shop! I had to come down by buying a Jazz rock record from a seller on finn . no hopefully 3rd times a charm.
I was sitting on a bench today and some Americans came over thinking I was from Colorado. «You’re Norwegian and chose to support the Rockies?!?» I could have said something about integrity but you never know how people may… uhm, react. They noticed my cap was getting a bit old and I said, Norway is on some sort of MLB banned from shipping list. Confused them further. That wasn’t even a joke.
Really cool shop Steve. And cool music, suited the flipping very well.
Those darn Americans, they just don’t get it do they Morten. MLB ban, that is pretty funny Morten. At least you caught their attention. That record store has delivered so many good records to me, I have no idea where they get all the great records. I would go broke living their Morten
@@stevecarlsonvinylcommunity9147 Yes, they implemented it during the pandemic and never did anything about it. However if you want a new Rockies cap and you live in Malawi? Hey, no problem.
Awesome shop.
