Regardless of what you think of Mark Cuban or anything he said here, the fact that he created Cost Plus Drugs is a gift to humanity.
It blows my mind that so many people are so hateful of him when he is in fact doing something positive in a sector that is so corrupt and powerful , just because he isn’t a Elon/Trump goon …. His advocacy for fairness and transparency in such a brutally restrictive and self serving corporate interest sector should be celebrated and appreciated not torn down and bad mouthed because he has a different political leaning than you . Yet another reason why I despise two party politics . Its near impossible for anything good to be fought for when the total aims are for destruction of the other side
He lies a lot in this video.
This is a dishonest interview.
Agreed 👍💯
None of his detractors would've started Cost Plus Drugs because this imaginary tidal wave of "shitty people" might benefit from them.
It is not Reverse Discrimination, it is just Discrimination.
Exactly
DEI racism with extra steps

Give me an example of dei being racist
I thought the same in the first second, but I think he does not mean discriminating, white people, but preferring not white people. which sounds the same at first but the intention is a different one. The outcome is still bad of course.
LOL at Cuban calling Dylan Mulvaney "Dylan McDermott" lolololol
I have to know what McDermott did to Cuban at some point. He would not waiver. 😂😂😂
@@starion88esir McDemott had to have plowed Cuban's wife or something! Cuban literally called Mulvaney the wrong name a good 7x after Lex pointed out that his/her last name was Mulvaney, not McDermott.
This is such a great interview! Thank you, Lex and Mark, for having a candid conversation (with differing viewpoints on many issues), but staying objective and not getting emotional. The world needs more of this! I learned a lot from each of you, and I think so many valid points were made for us to ponder as a society. 👏👏
I’ve been #Trump4Lyfe until I heard his opinion on Biden vs Trump, THEN I had a customer today and we talked politics for 45min and she was #Biden4Lyfe….. Now I’m conflicted 😂

@JS71.s That's funny you're literally just mad because he created networks for himself. I can tell you live a sad life.
I've worked as a pharmacy technician for 11 years and it feels so good to see someone with influence illuminate how fucked up the drug business is. Everything he said is completely true and not some isolated thing. If nothing else, this is such great work from Mark.
Yeah. Mark fucking Cuban is trying to help poor people. I understand this is a personally important topic for you but you can’t be that stupid
It’s just a business that makes him money and creates an image that he is doing it for humanity. It’s the same shit as bill gates. Claims to do everything for humanity but is the biggest monocrop agriculturist in history. He’s destroying our farm land while y’all praise him for supporting the jab. Why can’t people see through the Rockefeller propaganda billionaires use 😂
Totally agree. People want to hate on him because he may disagree with them. It’s weak because he is honest and does good. Nobody trusts anyone anymore and it’s sad.
@@allieflounder5764there is very little in the way of truth coming from him. Nobody is tarnishing his name. He did that all by himself with some truely ignorant takes.
Pointing out how obviously broken it is deserves praise - so one can simply profit (like Mark Cuban) is, does not.
Him pretending to care is simply part of his business plan pitch.
Gotta love how he keeps saying Dylan McDermott (the guy from The Practice) instead of MulV(VEINY)aney lmfao
Lol. I had to google it and then google the name Lex Fridman was saying in order to figure it out.
I started thinking he was talking about someone I didn't know.
.....wth does he refer to him as 'she'? He's either woke or awake..... seems like he flip flops between the two the whole way through the discussion....
He said it so often, I started wondering if he knew something we didn't, such as Dylan having also transitioned from Mulvaney to McDermot.
Was it intentional??
Really enjoyed that!
Mark is a interesting individual!!!

Where is Mark Cuban's NBA DEI office. I want to submit my application for Dallas Mavericks center.
If you're a white 7 footer whose reasonably athletic, with solid fundamentals and a good jump shot, he'd gladly give you a shot. That's all Dei is, they're giving qualified people from diverse backgrounds the opportunity to apply. And funny enough, what the NBA is doing in Europe by recruiting often white Euroleague players is, in a sense, very similar to most to Dei initiatives. The people they're hiring are qualified, they're just not white which is what rubs people the wrong way. White people feel like their going to get hired out of the economy which is silly. DEI dosent mean don't hire white people, it just means recruit a little more ethnically diverse qualified people. That's it. Anything else is mindless Neo Goebbels talking points.
Are you qualified? If so, go for it.
@@mgscheuenothing about DEI says you need to be qualified. That's the problem.
Sports is merit based. The premise is the best athlete
@@mgscheue whoosh. What do you think the E in DEI stands for genius?
It annoys me how whenever people talk in favor of DEI it’s always the most vague language. Sounds like it’s directly out of Atlas Shrugged
And always looking for moral equivalents
It is
We've had race quotas for 20+ years, tax benefits for hitting certain thresholds.
I guess I just don’t understand the concern about it in the business world. EEO prevents companies from discriminating based on race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, etc. The 2 companies I’ve worked for in the last decade have both had DEI departments, and they host some trainings and optional seminars but I’ve never heard of them influencing hiring decisions or trying to shame or guilt anyone. Just tried to promote general awareness and understanding of people’s differences. An example would be, oh if you are going to take your team to lunch, check in to see if anyone has dietary restrictions before you choose the restaurant, either for religious or other reasons. So yeah I feel like people that haven’t had direct experience with DEI in a company think it’s a much bigger deal than it is.
@@kylewilliams6769 The D in DEI stands for diversity, which is a dog whistle for less white people, simple as. SCOTUS ruled that race based quotas in universities are in fact discriminatory. Fallowing that logic, the same goes for all other sectors of the economy. If you mandate that your company must fill a specific percentage of their ranks by a certain groups, that intrinsically means that you will discriminate against others based on their immutable characteristics because you are hiring based on category and not merit or credentials. But I guess there needs to be a lawsuit from each sector that travels up the court system to address this madness. Its hard to believe this has to be explained.
Wow! Really liked this interview! I think Lex is the best in the business right now! He seems to have a way to touch on important points without having to force them on the person being interviewd. It is more like a conversation and, weather you agree or not, it is done in a direct way, cutting to the chase in many topics, but still maintaining comfort tone both to the interviwee (is that a word?) as to the viewers. Well done!
Its how the old time journalists in the 80s were... nowadays all of the interviewers badger their guests with their own opinions... Lex just interviews one guy with one opinion, then later a guy with the opposite opinion. And lets them explain themselves fully.
I end up respecting both of the interviewees regardless if I agree with their opinion or not. At least I can see where they're coming from.
He’s got great ego control, he’s genuine, and allows for organic conversation. He’s a rare podcaster in that he doesn’t need to hear himself speak nonstop. He’s a great listener and he engages conversationally.

It's sad that most people refuse to even listen to people on the opposing side of their beliefs. It's wise to hear all sides of an issue.
@@citizenblue I agree. People who only stick to one side are never really right either, despite what they think. You get a much more realistic and accurate view of things when you're not biased and take in all sides of an issue. Politics is like that a lot right now. Both the left and the right are both way off because both sides are so biased and unrealistic, and they are really only hearing things from people who agree with them, and they aren't realistic on opposing issues anyway, and definitely aren't legitimately listening. Confirmation bias specifically leads both sides to being wrong a lot of the time in politics and basically all issues. Politics is just an example though. Your statement is true in almost all types of debates and arguments.
@billj4525 💯. And the end result is, most people don't realize how close to agreeing with other people they actually are. The more polarizing an issue, the more likely people are to be on the extreme,

I feel like he thinks things cannot be emergent. People's behavior, company policy, etc -- they're all well thought out, rational actions.
What's more compelling, IMO, is the idea that Lex is trying to put forward: company policy, people's behavior -- they're largely emergent. DEI emerged as a sort of secular religion during the pandemic. Companies added DEI arms bc it seemed in line with the cultural norm. It wasn't simply an effort to expand the applicant pool (which is not at all what those teams did); it was to comply with then-cultural norms.
And bc they had no practical business purpose, DEI orgs were the first to go during the 2022 layoffs
Such a dishonest guy. "Nobody is forcing DEI on companies", meanwhile the state/federal government force DEI quotas on corporations.
Yes and publicly traded companies have shareholders like vanguard, state street, and blackrock. Your boss has a boss. He has in fact lost control of his company.

I watch Lex on CZcams on my TV. It takes time to get on my PC and comment, I seldom do and have never posted here before. I watch many of Lex's interviews, but have never had the desire to comment enough to actually jump in. This interview with Mark Cuban was excellent, the most timely and important interview I have seen here. It changed my perception of Cuban and my perception of Lex. One thing that bothered me was the non inclusion of Cuban's deal with gambling. How does that fit in his desire to do good? Why was it left out of the interview?

Illegal immigrants may not be able to vote (except in some municipal and local elections), but estimates of the area's population alters house of representatives seat appropriations. The effect is the same.
So what you are saying is that they can vote. What exactly is barring them from voting in other election? When they go to their voting precinct will they have special ballots for them? What does local mean exactly? Some would argue that that your state is a locality. Gee I wonder, will they vote for DAs and Judges who are hard on immigration or those who ignore those laws? And whose party those ppl usually belong to
This point was already debated on the elon and Don lemon interview
It does not significantly change the seats. Elon is repeating fear mongering stuff from Fox
If democrats have their way they will be able to vote too
@patrickozga3486 They can't vote bc they aren't citizens, but they are counted in the census. Bc of this the states they live in get more electoral college seats. This is true, but the vast majority live in California, New York, Texas, Florida, and Georgia, and account for about 1 seat each. Getting rid of them hurts Republicans just as much as democrats

Imagine trying to argue that "the free market will course correct" while simultaneously shitting on any efforts by the markets to course correct
I think that most people on both sides truly want what's best for everyone but have different beliefs on how we do that and agree that implementation is often flawed. Some issues are certainly more polarized than others (i.e. when does human life begin?). Those are harder to achieve compromise. There also seems to be a lot of hypocrisy on both sides. Glad some people can have grown up conversations and discuss their positions without hyperbolic rhetoric that is so prevalent on social media. Thank you Lex for providing this forum!
The problem is for the individuals who are vocally standing on an anti-woke platform. The real racists of the past are hard to distinguish from their own argument and they get frustrated at being called what appears obvious to everyone else.
Most people do not want whats best for everyone, most people want what's best of themselves. This is evidence by their actual behavior

Without weighing in on the DEI debate within the comments, its interesting what a hot button issue it is that the most comments and liked comments at the top are by far about DEI. I felt like it was one of many many topics touched, some more substantiative. I can see both sides of the debate, and wish it wasnt such another wedge for everyone to hate on each other.
It's because the underlying concept is discrimination based on race, sex, and sexual orientation. It's just done in a way that spins it to make it sound acceptable. I'm all for inclusion, but that shouldn't be something that gets someone a job over another person. It all sounds nice in theory, until you realize Asians who are more qualified with higher test scores, are being denied entry to colleges in favor of less qualified individuals... The interview with Besoz was a particular and pointed failure in that regard.
I am 5’10 Asian dude who has no sporting ability but love basketball, in the spirit of DEI, Mr Cuban, please award me with a multimillion contract and play for the Mavs! You mean it right when you said DEI Mr Cuban. Or I do you better, give Jeremy Lin a 5 years contract instead
you saying that means you have very little understanding of or contact with DEI related programs
asians are apart of DEI silly y'all been scamming getting fake SAT scores for years and jeremy lin sucked
@@foxshot97 nope
@@shellderp”nope” stunning retort
Sorry, Asians have been too successful, you are white now :) Welcome to the club!
Such a stellar interview!
Its hard to see when your in it...... Well said.
We need petite Asian men in NBA. You have a team, dont you? Be inclusive Mr Mark.
Don't forget about women represention
Yeah, he is just a dishonest hack. He cannot rationally justify his position against woke nonsense. In fact, he probably pushes it for his own benefit and to the detriment of anyone else that is not on board with those disgusting ideologues.
Totally ignored the point mark is making, quite embarrassing on your part.
@@NaxorRaxor No, DEI is simply racism at the expense of competence, motivated by a bunch of ideologues and supported by gigantic, State sponsored corporations such as Blacktock through ESG and BRIDGE.
This is what I’ve been saying to supporters of affirmative action. Give every basketball team an Asian quota.
Lex once again delivers an incredible conversation with an influential individual, providing a much deeper insight into them compared to reels or tweets.
Outstanding. Great conversation
Great show thanks Lex❤
thankyou so much LEx Fridman for the podcast.. probably we need round 2
Always like listening to Mark talk business, great interview.
DEI sounds very similar to affirmative action and EEOC, it was cosigned by JFK in the 60s. I feel like I'm in a loop. Here we go again 😮💨
A lot of tech companies are typically loaded with Asians and white people. DEI typically don’t apply to them but the other jobs. Kinda funny.
As long as majority groups try to isolate and discriminate against minority groups there will be anti-racist groups and likely policy to combat it. They bring it upon themselves and then complain about its existence.
He unironically used the terms “reverse racism” and “reverse discrimination” in a serious discussion. Inexcusable behavior
The level of determination people have in re-implementing failed socio-economic experiments never fails to baffle me.
Best comment so far, what a waste of time...just for rehashed clicks. Only one party can't seem to get out of the past or have an original thought wanting a solution! Race is NOT an issue to well traveled youngsters! America is creating it's own problems from within. Let's UNITE..globally🌎🌍
Mark, thanks for your impact in Indianapolis.😌 Lex,take this message and use it, and brainstorm ideas on how to make, innovation Nation to change the environment future of our existence. Thanks.
