- yet another agency shift , this time a CLASS 2 HGV doing multi-drop deliveries. vlog EP 4
today marks my THIRD agency shift within the HGV industry, specifically a class 2 multi-drop shift, hopefully this vlog provides a small insight into the different type of work an agency may give you. I give my personal opinions on what its like tips and hints ect. PLEASE NOTE BY NO MEANS AM I RIGHT OR WRONG THIS IS JUST MY OPINION AND HOW I LIKE TO DO THINGS MY VERY OWN WAY.
I covered a longer shift starting at 0700hrs and finished at 1900hrs for £15.40hr, I drove a class 2 to multiple locations, delivering food related pallets for various different companies.
Just signed up for a Class 2 boot camp so hopefully I'll be on the road soon. Doing supermarket vans atm, 8 years experience. I think I'm off to a good start as the lady at the induction put a big star and wrote "EXPERIENCED!!" at the top of the page 😂This Class 2 multi-drop looks like a great gig in comparison to what I'm doing now. The job's become an absolute nightmare over the past twelve months. Managers trying to cram as much into the day as possible, and believe me, absolutely zero room for even the slightest fuck up, and of course if there are any lates it's the drivers fault. One hour delivery slots, up to eight drops an hour, load our own vans now as they got rid of the loaders last year, absolute piss take. Most of the vans shouldn't even be on the road due to faults but drivers are pressured -or even threatened- into taking them out. This looks like a great day out by comparison!
My heart sank as soon as I spotted that turntable at 9:00 🤣 We have one in the yard and guess what, it's broken, but they keep trying to use it! Artics stuck across the yard. We spent 45+ minutes trying to get one out just last week as it was spinning under him every time his front wheels got off it onto concrete. We were his first drop at 10pm. Night driver delivering milk. The driver was coke bottle cap red! Felt so sorry for the guy.
The taco hours are a complete mind fuck for me atm. Especially as we don't even get breaks most days where I work now, they just bombard us with drops all day and what is supposed to be our break time is spent sorting our second load out ourselves because everyone else has gone home! I really think 3.5t vans should have tacos in them too. There's just no protection for drivers from managers overworking them.
As to why... I've been doing this job for eight years now. It's a sound job itself, you describe it perfectly; once you're loaded and on the road, it's just you and time flies by. Before you know it you've got two drops left and your eight hours are over, that's exactly how I'd describe it. But, man it's just taken a complete nose dive this past year and it's become so mentally exhausting dealing with it. Time to move on. You might have even inspired me to stick a camera in my face to give a newbie perspective. Hopefully this boot camp goes well!
Cheers mate.
It's a Tautliner, unless you have Booking Times, do it in whatever Order you like, use your Pallet Truck to Readjust the Load. I always used to try and get rid of the Heaviest OR Closest 1st. Used to like Multi Drop, something to get your Teeth into, used to do 6 to 8 Drops a Day on Class 1 Fridges, all Stores, and if you got Held up it used to have a Snowball Effect for the rest of the Day.
Thanks for taking the time to make these vlogs. I'm thinking of a career change and am looking at HGV driving as I'm sick of being stuck behind a desk and these videos give a great insight into what's involved. Keep up the good work.
That’s great to hear mate, hopefully these help 😂🤷🏽♂️
well hope you know it's crap hours . You never finish on time .
Stay behind the desk.. especially in the winter lol
Looks like a handy route.. my job has me up so many country lanes to small engineering outfits

Good vid mate im new to it aswell, i like to take my 15 mins within first 2 hours that covers the 6 hours workin time then when i get to drive time take 30 and that will cover you for 9 its a nightmare ahhhhh
Thanks buddy and that’s a great shout 🤔👍🏾
Hey bro absolutely amazing video.... Quick question is the theory multiple choice questions simular to the car theory test?
Thanks for the support and I would say no not at all … watch my cpc video mate I have an amazing app that will get you to a standard necessary to pass
love the vlogs bud.. subbed 👍
Thanks buddy I appreciate the support 😊
Im driving bin lorrys at the minute hate it! Looking to move into something like this hopefully
Its only 15 minute break before the 6 hours in WTD then 15 minutes per 3 hours there after.
Many comments about multi drop here and how it sucks, but if you find the right company that pays well it can be ideal. The place I was with paid 42k, between 4 - 9 deliveries and sometimes the odd collection, 22 plate Dafs, got a mate if over 3t and/or 8 drops, good training before out alone, kept me fit - now driving artics and have put on a lot of weight, and less money. Do your research and ask around to find the right companies in your area and then keep an eye on their recruitment Web page, email them your CV etc... be patient for the right company
Faaacts !! A comment with actual meat to the bone behind an opinion is what I like to see 😏
I was getting 39k night trunk class 1 . two drops per night on fridges that was one easy job always finished at 04.00 paid till 06.00
Thanks for your video bud,
I got my cpc module 2 test coming up in 2 weeks time, so I'm one of those benefiting from your video because I'm also looking to become class 2 hgv driver real soon. I will subscribe to your channel 👍🏽...
Thanks bud!! Good luck to you and glad they help 😁
Dude, did You pass?
@Ruslan Mickevic Streaming yes I did pass thanks, and I decided I was going for class 1 after, passed my uncoupling and coupling first time and failed my road test twice, I got da third one this week 🙏🏽.. it's been a mad journey no doubt ...
@@dakingdonecome1071 so did u pass now
@Stl 1985 yes buddy I passed my cpc mod 2, I decided to move on to class 1 instead.. passed uncoupling but failed road test 4 times, I rebooting another test because my uncoupling ran out so I'm having to take my uncoupling again this month in a few weeks, its been along journey but im not giving up ...
Love the vlogs. Just a quick question what is it like to work for lenham storeage.
My opinion (based on doing agency work for them) is that they are a really professional company and have everything running like clock work plus trucks are well maintained and everything is loaded and strapped really well just tip up do checks and drive 😉👌🏻
get your Waight checked on a way bridge before you lose your licensee or wears?
Great video thanks good info
Gave that multidrop shit up years ago, use to get overloaded pallets all the time because they don't want to pay for a second pallet, some were so tall they were, like the leaning tower of Pisa & if they go over, driver will be to blame.
Yer some are really bad 😩
i once told my employer i refuse to carry on doing this certain drop as it was too dangerous in a very long the max class 2 steel wagon to this shed of a business situated in a terraced house estate where the locals on purpose parked their cars so trucks couldnt get in, and it was only the 2nd drops in morning meaning i was fully loaded to the hilt, with also over hanging t bar and guiders the lot, they told me if i dont im refusing to do my job, i said no its dangerous and im protecting my licence, so they sacked me
That’s mental !!! Unfortunately Sometimes it takes a big accident to make them see the truth !! Luckily it won’t be you that causes it mate !! 👌🏻
So after all this time driving. All in all. Do you enjoy it? Would you recommend it? Do you get a decent enough work / life balance?
Not a trucker (yet) but just saw a local company advertising for Class 2 drivers. They want 4 on / 4 off shifts. Four days in work then four days off? Seems bloody decent to me. Weekends are higher pay, too.
What is this ‘deeps’ thing you talk about? Do you mean depot?
How many agency's are you registered with?
Multi drop is crap that's why I only do class one trunk work. But had enough of the road as been on it 31 years roll on retirement. I jump back and forth to lorries and coaches stops me getting bored .
why not just reverse into the yard from the road for your first drop?
My thoughts exactly, that's what I would have done.. a few cars might have to wait, but im backing it upp in there with my blinkers on👌🏽...
@@dakingdonecome1071 that be perfectly fine. Shame the turntable wasn't working
You can tell you were wet behind the ears. Why didn’t you just reverse in the yard and save all that energy 😂😂
LOL, Exactly what i thought, Hazards on, Back in, some of the Aldis i used to do with an Artic were a Nightmare as most of the Bays are through a Car Park.
Hard to concetrate on what you are saying with the music playing on the background. Any way good video
Thanks for the video the most interesting part we want to watch is the road so we learn as well, please also point camera on the road
As a class 2 driver myself i can honestly say multi drop sucks balls
Haha I feel your pain on this 😂 it can be like this SOMETIMES …
Swear all you want mate other drivers do and clowns on eScooters
Evening really liked your vlog but not the swearing. It gives a bad reflection on Lenhams the company you are driving for. I am to a newly passed Class 2 driver. Looking forward to my start date on the 4th April. Good luck in going forward.
Ohh exciting well done on the pass buddy and thanks for watching 😁 also good luck!!!
Many thanks take care. I will look out for some more vlogs from you.
Swearing it's just the way us normal ppl talk
@@markmckay666 well all I can say is I glad you are not working for my company.
Haha actually it does not reflect on the haulage company at all!
All that handball 🤢🤢
haha yer ball ache !!!
Stick it on a break while you're offloading 👍 I'm task and finish so that's what I do 🫣
