Intense Dreams After Quitting Weed - (Vivid Nightmares)

  • There are some real intense dreams after quitting weed. Vivid nightmares or realistic dreams because an every night thing and yes it's annoying.
Although it's a good thing because it means you're dreaming again, which means your brain is entering REM sleep for the first time in many years.
After smoking for 8 years I never had any dreams at all but would wake up feeling so exhausted and tired. After stopping smoking weed I realized it's because my brain never got actual rest at night. Many of you are probably feeling the same way.
Weed addiction can have so many negative side effects and then weed withdrawals can feel even worse which so few people truly understand unless they were hooked on weed before.
I can't accurately create a quitting weed timeline for dreams but it seems about 6 months is the point when they finally stop happening with such intensity.
So if you're nightmares after quitting weed is very common and actually a good thing, it's part of your recovery process so don't get freaked out if you're having vivid dreams after quitting weed.

Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the video. I know marijuana withdrawal symptoms are not easy, especially wondering how long do vivid dreams last after quitting smoking but it does get better!!!

Teeth falling out, being chanced, being in end of the world scenarios, fights, etc. I would wake up emotionally stressed and it would carry through my whole day, but if you keep going without weed, those dreams become dreams of falling in love, having fun, flying,...good things.

This has been possibly one of the most influential and uplifting videos I’ve seen in my journey of quitting. Been smoking for about 10 years of my life now, I’m 28, and these dreams have been absolutely brutal. I’m about 3 weeks sober and every morning so far I wake up feeling like I just played a horror game in VR and took off the glasses after hours of playing and believing what I just experienced was real. Knowing that what I’m going through is actually helping me and improving my mental health is what’s keeping me on track. Thank you so much for this post, you are out here helping people recover and live a better life for themselves free of bad habits and dependency.

That's crazy I'm also 28 and going through all this what gets me more mad at myself is the fact that I believed everyone that said its not addicting yet I'm facing withdrawal symptoms now but either way we push through everything and things always get better proud of everyone going through these stages trying to fix their life/health. I’ve been having the worst nightmares since, like I wake up and I’m terrified I have to convince myself for a good 15 minutes that it wasn’t real, but also as you said it feels like a horror game in VR mode it truly sucks. Maybe I could write these crazy nightmare ideas down for a horror themed book 😂. (Gotta laugh or I may cry! 😅) anyways, it’s inspiring to see others in the same boat as me. Health is wealth for real! Made me quit cold turkey one day and ever since I have noticed a great increase in lifes outlook and positivity. Everything is much more clear now. Never thought I would quit but it truly does help. Dreams have been a bit wonky but overall I wake up with tons of energy and feel so much better. For those who are thinking about quitting/slowing down, it is totally worth it!

hey how's it been ? you still manage not to smoke ? your comments really caught my eyes since I am 28 years old and also been smoking for 14 years , and smoking A LOT. I have a horrible memory , short and long both trash and I am realizing that I need to abandon this addiction , but I don't think that I can just drop it for good , but instead slowly and steady day by day . I mostly don't feel the huge urge to smoke when I'm alone , but all of my best friends are pot smokers , and most of them are not losers or feel like pot does any harm to them at all , so it's hard for me to explain to them what i'm going thru since they can't relate, like im the only loser in my circle that smokes pot , they all have good careers , girlfriends , some of them have kids and so on . I kinda feel like weed has taken out the pleasure in other things in my life , like meeting people , chasing girls and doing stuff. It is really hard to do a Self evaluation since I started so early with weed in life , I met nice people and changed my perspective in life because of weed, I really love the weed culture and feel that people who smoke tend to be good and chill people usually , we would have that one thing in common and would all get along because of our favorite hobby lol. Perhaps I don't wish to quit completely but to do a moderate use like I do with alcohol , I almost never drink and when I do it's only a can or two max. Anyways hope to hear from you , blessings.

Im having the worst dreams of my life , as far as as i remember im a strong man but damn boy this nightmares are drowning me i just dreamed about her getting with other dudes and or me getting prisoned by her or even obsessed by devils that looks like her shit like this , my depression and anxiety making it worse cant stop thinking negatively, i also had dreams like the doctor described where people chase you … but the intense ones are always having something to do with what you’re experiencing in the period of time you chose to quit so try to be good mentally before quitting weed pls i dont wish this to my worst enemies (quitting+breakups=hell) , stay safe and strong brothers we not giving up or looking back just wanted to write one of my experiences here , pray for me i love you all . God is great Peace ✌🏼❤️

I quit 8 years ago after smoking for about 17 years and for about a year had the most extreme and vivid nightmares pretty much every single night. One night about 10-11 years ago while out walking around I had a panic attack that came out of nowhere, whenever I smoked after that it brought back that super intense paranoia and I couldn't enjoy it anymore. Two or three years later I quit smoking. Eventually I noticed my thoughts were a lot clearer and I felt alive again, my day wasn't being consumed about how long my supply would last and how to get more when I ran out.

Great video! It's been 2 weeks since I quit smoking (smoked for nearly 10 years on a daily basis). My experience is quite positive though.
I too always woke up as if I just layed to bed, without remembering any of the dreams I had (if any). I usually slept for 6/7 hours for a full rest and woke up pretty fresh even though I smoked before going to bed.
Now my dreams are VERY lucid, and for me it's AWESOME. I used to have many lucid dreams as a teenager but that went away later on. Now I sleep less and I do wake up a few times occasionally but I feel even more rested.
My advice is to have a positive view on the things you're experiencing, involve curiosity and self awareness. You are on the right track now and your brain is getting used to it.

Hi Jesse, thank you for posting this. I’m a senior in college right now and have been on the grass for about since I got here haha. (2016) I’ve taken about 4 month to three month long breaks for internships and every time I quit I get these extremely vivid nightmares that ruin my mood upon waking up and make going to sleep dreadful at times. I know they eventually go away, but I am starting to quit again and I believe for a while. Like you mentioned, I got sick and tired of doing nothing and especially after realizing my surroundings. But you would still smoke. The ritual was so bliss, especially after picking up. Marijuana is a drug no matter how much it is glorified but it is still a drug that can take control over someone’s life without realizing it. I knew every time I quit, my mood would be more regulated, I would wake up with energy and be clear every morning, I wouldn’t have as much anxiety or get irritable as easy, and would be able to talk to girls without stopping my response because I would overthink what I would send back haha. I’m glad I found a channel that mentioned the side effects and had an explanation. Joe Rogan has talked about the negative side effects but dammit, he mentioned them maybe once compared to his 5029502040220x of glorifying it compared to prescription drugs.
My biggest worry is the nightmares as they are usually always horrendous within the first two weeks of quitting and I cannot help it.

Hello thanks for this video you helped to understand what’s going on with me, and also that I’m not alone with the nightmare issues in relation to stopping smoking weed. I have been a smoker for 22 years and 20 of them where all day everyday. Like you said what a waste of time and potential. It’s like putting your life in neutral when you should be in drive. This is day 7 for me the most important as I have made it this far a few times and relapsed, but have not given up and kept trying. I think i will make it this time cause I want to better myself now even more. It has become something to conquer getting past this day and win. But these dreams are vivid and nightmareish and they suck totally to know this is a process of healing gives me confidence to keep moving forward. Thanks again for this video it is comforting knowing that I’m not the only one going through this. May God bless you for your humbleness and honesty as it is not an easy thing to put yourself out there on social media.

Thanks, I'm on day 2 and had my first dream in years this morning. It wasn't too bad, but I know the nightmares you speak of. I recommend the Crappy Childhood Fairie and Tim Fletcher to deal with complex trauma which is what most of us are probably needing to deal with in order to quit suppressing our deeper emotions we want to bury.

      @robinhendrix66 Před 2 měsíci +1

I hope you're still doing OK. I wish you the best.
I'm so glad you mentioned the Crappy Childhood Fairy and Tim Fletcher. Anna Runkle, the Crappy Childhood Fairy, also mentioned the book by Pete Walker, Complex PTSD, from surviving to thriving, a solid handbook for self treating our childhood traumas. I've rented a little place to go and get clean in solitude, and I leave in four days. I got to this point, quitting, due to one of Anna's videos that said if you have any addictions, or criminal or tax stuff weighing you down, it's best to get them dealt with for faster recovery. SO - Alcohol gone (check), minor tax issues resolved (check), and now I'm quitting weed. To help, I'm taking my tablet so I can watch all the videos I want on quitting. I'll work through Pete Walker's book on CPTSD, and I'll consume stacks of paper and pencils for the daily writing practice.
And we mustn't forget Gabor Maté, the deepest voice so far on the true nature of addiction. He says, don't ask Why the Addiction, ask Why the Pain? I was the scapegoat in our family, so I come by it honestly. Now I have the tools to pass through this with more confidence. Maybe the dreams won't be too bad with all the work I've done to prepare for this passage in my life. If I can cut off my crappy family of origin, I can cut off weed.

a racing heart checking to make sure there's not some demon down the hallway. I get a laugh out of it later. - That's how I got over my fear of nightmares as a kid.
Though, I've definitely noticed my dreams after quiting have been really intense, I knew that would be the case going in so I've been keeping a dream journal. Bring it On! I honestly don't want it to end and would love the intensity to increase, if every dream could feel like that 2 day long feeling dream I had, that'd be great, a real adventure and I learnt a lot. Don't be afraid to let your dreams adapt you to becoming a better person, it's worth it.
I've got a whole other paragraph I've written for this saved detailing some important dream instances but they're not at all safe for youtube.

Hey i wanna say that to anyone going throught this experience, have courage and dont bring you down, this kind of things really gets you in destress as you alone in it. My advice to you would be to not focus on the dreams the next day, dont ignore it just look at it and make yourself smile for the day. I am 10 month in quitting weed and my nights got better, i still have some weird dreams but i always was a big dreamer and that just happens, i dont get nightmares like the begining of quitting, the first week dreams were horrifying and i really felt alone in this so i write to you that might feel hopeless, you are doing good and make yourself happy :)

@@r619zapata7 In my opinion, t's best to quit completely and eliminate everything related to smoking from your environment, if not you'll easily fall back into the habit. Smoking is a quick fix, rush of dopamine and makes boredom go away. We need boredom to push ourselves and need dopamine in check, if not we don't want to do anything challenging other than what gives us our quick fix.
It's not that it'll destroy your life, it's that you won't ever really accomplish the things you want to truly do, and then you'll realize you wasted your life away at old age to smoking, instead of being present in the moment and doing what actually makes you happy.

Reading the comments I have faith that through changes in diet and exercising, meditation and time I will eventually be able to get a full nights rest and dream positively. @@BetterYouNow I’ve smoked weed for 21 years bro. I’m turning 35 next week and I don’t want to be a slave to it anymore. The longest I’ve ever lasted in the past has been three weeks. I ended up smoking again because my dreams were exhausting and I started to feel sorry for myself and lost all my initial motivation to get off it. The first few dreams were cool and interesting, but the longer it goes on the harder it is to deal with. Not only are the dreams exhausting me, but I wake up and I can’t stop thinking about it. As I said, in the last couple of dreams I’ve been aware that I’ve been dreaming and I’ve been telling myself to wake up in the dream - but last night I just couldn’t wake up even though I knew I wasn’t awake. I started to think that maybe I was dead given the fact I couldn’t wake up. I checked my heartbeat and my heart wasn’t beating. I finally “woke up” and called my friend to tell him that I had a dream that I couldn’t wake up from. Five minutes later I realised that I was still dreaming and I can’t even begin to explain how horrifying it was. I fell asleep earlier today when I came home from work and something similar happened. When I woke up the first thing I did was search on CZcams for advice and found your video. That dream of yours sounds terrifying bro. I was thinking it might be a good idea to try and analyse your dreams to work out the symbolism behind them - maybe if you get a clearer idea of what your body is trying to tell you and fully process it then the idea of falling asleep it might not feel so daunting. Appreciate your video anyway mate. Hope you continue on your journey and manage to replace your addiction with a major positive in your life 👍🏼 sending love from Scotland ✊🏻

I was always at my best after a break up, when I was in the worst pain. It's like a wake up call to do what's right, but after the pain leaves don't get lazy and fall back into the trap! Trust me I've been there and done that a few times.

Damn bro, I feel like if I made a video about my current situation, it would have been EXACTLY this video. Trippin out man I just basically watched myself... tall to my self...
"Sober October" has been the best thing that's happened to me. I'll never abuse cannabis again and I'm only a week in. Thankfully I was deep into health and wellness my entire life, and it kept me from becoming absolutely crushed by my habitual behavior. Letting this daily crutch go was the best thing that's ever happened to me. Currently trying to analyze what the cessation of dreams are telling me because they are coming in patterns of "types of dreams". First few days were super violent dreams. From me doing the harm, witnessing harm being done to others. Last night I had dreams that werent violent in nature, but extreme interpersonal conflict and one that took a sexual twist. Idk this shits crazy.
I feel as though since I havent gone into rem sleep for so long, that all of the experiences I've had and things I've watched like violent movies, all the way back to when I used to watch porn.. all of that is no finally being able to be processed and dumped from the system.
Stay strong brother. I recommend if they continue longer than 6 months, seek cognitive therapy to hash out what you arent able to on your own. It will take a lot of integration to become fully self aware and to heal from the damage done. ✌🏻🙏🏻
