    Here is a short clip of the car being taking up to 9300 rpms with this oil pump. Notice the oil pressure stays right at 80psi and it never moves until I let off the gas. Car is 500-600whp range currently czcams.com/video/vl7dng9rmEE/video.html

      rizky lase not sure why it’s not working, I’ll see what I can do

      rizky lase there is a video linked to a below comment that also shows a shirt clip, the car is now 700whp and holds 80-85psi on the track and still holds great oil pressure while driving around. I shattered the pump in this video when my crank pulley came loose ( not the pumps fault) I ported another pump the same way and going strong ever since. There are videos on my page that show the gauge while racing (gauge is where the radio used to be)

    Thanks for the upload, I hadn't found a video with the bit size and drill step included. I appreciate your take on the job!

      Hope it helps, I just did my 2nd pump for mine. The one I did in this video did incredible until I shattered it at 30psi when I overreved without having a proper damper....not the pumps fault

      @@barryc1635 I thought I had everything required and was going to start porting it this evening. Seeing this video this morning was perfect timing and will save me some headache. Again thanks!

    A little rough, but with practice... ;-)
    Lightly grinding the cutting tip so it is less sharp - 1/16 zero rake is plenty - will greatly reduce the grabbing of the cutting tip.
    Pick up a 6-8" length of steel rod, cut a slot around 1" long at one end and smooth off the sharp edges - you can cut strips of fine emery cloth/W&D and slide them into the slots and it will do a very nice smoothing of the oilway when spun by an electric drill.
    Cutters, or burrs, are much better for removing aluminium and should be used with wax, or other lubricant, to reduce cut material sticking to the cutter.
    Depending on the engine, and how far one wants to go, one can also drill out the internal oilways and, for the long oilways, extended drills are available, although their cost may restrict that to the more financially comfortable folks, or those who do a lot of block preparation.
    However, as I understand it, one of the big problems with the high rpm (~9k5 up) operation is cavitation and this happens on the suction side - this would suggest that some judicious reworking on that side of the pump, and oil pickup, would be a very sound idea.

      Interesting thoughts. So far mine has performed perfectly, but I’m sure there’s always a better way

    Was able to get the car started and I have a under throttle 75-80 psi of oil pressure

    Awesome stuff. What else did you do to the ports size were you stuck the marker just leave it alone

      If you talking about the entry area where the drill bit went in, that area is threaded and don’t get touched. That’s why I made sure to remove the part of the drill bit that could possibly damage those threads. If that’s not what you meant, ask again lol

      @@barryc1635 the hole with o ring seal leave it same size or can I open it up and on the block and i always clean it up 👍

    • @barryc1635
      @barryc1635  Před 5 lety

      since the pick up tube that connects to it is the same size as the o ring port ( I do believe) I would not open that o ring port up bigger since it would cause a bottle neck and cause turbulence. I would only round the inside area and make it smoother

      4 piston does a good job for sure, but many of us enjoy doing our own work like myself...... anyone that does not feel comfortable doing this process should 100% send them to 4 piston racing

    Hi Barry... what was your hot idle oil pressure before porting and shimming.... and what about after .... thanks

    • @barryc1635
      @barryc1635  Před 5 lety +3

      Hot oil pressure before was 18-20 and after is 20-24 (At idle) and high rpm was around 80 before and also 80 after. Without the shim I would have lost pressure with the port job done and I also went larger gap on my main bearings which lowers oil pressure. Shimming the pump got my pressure back to where it needed to be. The link below was a video I just took with doing some tuning

    • @barryc1635
      @barryc1635  Před 5 lety +2

      Thanks for the comments, I’ll measure the thickness of the shim I used and leave a comment soon as I can. The motor is still holding great oil pressure even after I used oversized main bearings. I’ll probably make a short video showing the oil gauge at idle cold and hot temps

    • @barryc1635
      @barryc1635  Před 5 lety +2

      1.44mm / 0.057 in thickness is what I used

      Barry C do you know inner and outer diameter?

    • @barryc1635
      @barryc1635  Před 5 lety +1

      Easy thing to do is to take the oil pump plug/bolt to somewhere like Ace hardware. Just make sure it’s smaller than the width of the threads and you will be fine
