You don’t actually need anything to start to learn bushcraft, my first bits of equipment I got was a small pocket guide on food for free , a small pocket knife, and an old canvas bag, today’ modern bushcraft/ survival guys unfortunately fall into a world at the click of a button you can obtain any equipment to make live easy , I often say to people thinking of booking a bushcraft course , if it does not contain any tips and tricks forging / basic plant 🌱 mushroom 🍄 and tree identification 🆔 don’t waste your money, there is nothing you can be shown , that you can’t actually learn for yourself, there are hundreds of videos and how to guild. Once again buddy fantastic video and a difficult topic, as everyone will always have a different opinion.
I just like being out in nature, learning a few skills and having the kit for the job makes it easier and more enjoyable, im not sure labels like bushcraft are helpful and buying expensive kit because someone else on yt has it is definitely not. I had the same folding saw as you for years, it was fine until i cut up lots of oak then the blade warped. It was time for me to move on to a Bahco but it doesn't mean that saw isn't right for you.
Knowledge is key, nowadays most people are all about kit, kit and more kit, and the more gucci and expensive the kit the better ! Its like a fashion show mentality, knowledge is key and it can be obtained by anybody for not a lot of dosh. Good video Leigh and all the best to you and yours.
I was living in a vw camper with no engine or wheels😂. I learnt the dark arts by trial and error. It was 1988. I was 19 and I wanted to live like a hippy 😂. Although it was hard at 1st. I managed 3 years. Obviously I had work and made a few quid. The best thing you can have is knowledge and willingness to learn more
