I just received a Coach handbag second-hand. This is my first time owning any designer purse, and though the bag itself is a lovely design, it's 1) very dirty (like... Really gross,) and 2) has an odor of moisture and perfume. I have it sitting in a sealed bag with a damp-rid package (to absorb any moisture) and baking soda (for odor,) but my next step is to clean the bag and I was perplexed on the best way to do so. This video has given me an affordable and easy way to get some of the grime out of this purse, so thank you so much for taking the time to film and explain your process! I was hesitant to use any method in articles because they don't show any physical examples of before and after, and I don't want to damage the purse any further. It's clearly been through enough already 😂

The store I went to didn't have the cleaner you used so I for the turtle wax brand auto carpet cleaner.... My old dingy WHITE coach purse (9 y/o) now looks brand new!!! I did have to use a softer scrub brush (other than the one that came with the can) and the can still feels full! Genius 👍

You can use either hand sanitizer (only clear) or alcohol for pen stains. Works for most clothes too. Nice video. I have lots of bags to work on.....🙂

Thank you for the toot... I did this on my coach it worked perfectly appreciate you putting this on here. If you spray alcohol liberally on the ink spots, take a toothbrush and then take your cloth and most of that will come out. I know I just did it and thanks again my purse looks fabulous. I would have never thought to use that cleaner on there but it sure works beautifully. Blessings and smiles from one Coach lover to another..
For pen marks rubbing alcohol does the trick.Thank you for pointers love the video.

I would put painters tape on leather and hardware. Gloves a must. A soft toothbrush on tough stains & rubbing alcohol on pen marks. But still a good video. Going to try out on my run of the mill un-designer purses. Lol

I'm lazy. I would have just submerged the bag in warm water with Blue Dawn dishwashing liquid, gently scrubbed with a nail brush, let air dry and then used leather conditioner on the leather parts. But you did a great job and the bag looks great.👍

I didn't think of that. Thank you. I got a Kate Spade purse and wallet for $1 at my local salvation army store. They have a purse lady that verifies that they're real. There's a pen mark on the purse and I have to clean it because I am giving it to my granddaughter for her sixth birthday Thursday. No party, no fun,so I'm trying take her feel special.

Also, I thought I would point out to you an option on Ink marks hair spray and dawn with distilled water will lift out ink stains

Hey yall! Just wanted to say this stuff still works really good on coach fabric like this. I had a vintage 65th legacy and I cleaned it & it looks nearly brand new. & it was DIRRTTYY. I thought it was unsalvagable.

You can use isopropyl alcohol to remove pen marks on interior liner of purse. It works great!
I almost never put my bag down for this reason

I am seeing some ladies putting their bags on the floor of public restrooms which is gross( eww). As for my bag, hanging it by the door still is gross so I sprayed them with an antibacterial, allow it to dry with a paper towel and never put it anywhere but in a plastic bag when I get home.🙊🙈
Bags on the floor really make me sick. I also use sanitizer in most of my purses.
I was hospitalized while ago and a friend came to visit, long story short.. He removed my bag from the chair to sit down and put my bag, MY BAG ON THE FLOOR!!😩🤬🥺😡😢
I got out of the bed with my A.V. the finger thing also with a bag of blood since I was receiving a transfusion. When he and the nurse saw me they were speechless. I've left the bed to damp my bag with sanitizer repeatedly, something that was so weird for them but very normal for me.

Great video! I have a very soiled Valentino handbag with a lot of leather trim. It's yellow fabric with a bow so I'm worried about the leather bleeding. I'm going to tape the leather as well as be very careful when I use the cleaner. Can't wait to get this done!

OMG thank you! I actually got a coach bag from my neighbor and it was so dirty i only paid $5 because she didn't want to clean it. I was like well for $5 I can try, not a big loss. I am going to try this!
Ladies if you're getting rid of old purses and don't want to bother selling them please donate them to the salvation army. I can't say enough good about them. Our local store has a lady that comes in and verifies that the bags are real and they still sale them for between $5-10. Plus if you didn't know it the salvation army does a lot of work with victims of human trafficking so every donation helps a lady trying to reclaim her life

I used alcohol on my new botkier purse to remove an ink stain. It removed the ink, but also removed the shiny finish on the bag. It now appears like a lighter dull raw leather spot.
Does anyone know what to use to touch up the area to add the shine back?
Pat Turner I know this answer is really late but I would take it to a good shoe cobbler or a furniture repair place. They are amazing with leather repair

This was an awesome video! I usually go to the Coach store and buy bottles of cleaners. I try very had not to let my bags get too dirty before cleaning them, which means cleaning them often. If you bought the store's cleaners then you know those can be pricey. This is a wonderful alternative and I will definitely try it! Thank you again!

Thank you for contacting me. Actually, no, I haven't tried this yet. I had already purchased a couple bottles of the cleaner from Coach so I still have a bit left. Because I have so many purses, I don't carry one for long before I switch up to a different purse. Or, if I am wearing a particular color, I change my purse to match. But I have your video tagged so I can come back to it once I have run out of cleaner. Thank you, again, for contacting me. :-)

Use any holding spray to get ink out. I use Aquanet.
Aquanet and most traditional hairsprays are just spray lacquer. The lacquer thinner in them is a solvent for many inks, but you risk harming the leather finish and may drive the ink farther into the leather. Be very careful. It is MUCH safer to buy an ink remover made for use on leather.

Great video. Blue or transparent surgical-gloves could be handy, it works well cleaning (saddle soap), waxing or waterproofing shoes and boots.
This worked really well. Bag is hot pink again.
