I was staring at the screen thinking this video looks so good like, immaculate lighting? standing angle? white balance? and then I realized 3 minutes in… YOUR HAIR IS PINK!! it looks so good!!
true
For real!! I just love the colour.
Just something to say for language leaners: You never stop learning a language. In English, if it is your first language, you always find out a new word you never knew existed, are discovering new slang, and discovering what is polite and impolite. Don't give up, guys!
6 years living in Korea but still can't speak as good Korean as you. Lindie you are a true inspiration. Honestly made me motivated to start learning and improving my Korean. Thanks a lot
Lived in Korea for 7 years, and I can guarantee you that your Korean is better than mine...lol....I suck (or I'm just dumb).
@@buttarain27 I am korean and never left the country and I can assure the both of you that my korean is the worst
@@MakotoOPT 😂
Are you able to live in Korea without having to speak too much korean? Maybe that's why you haven't learned it till now.
@@MakotoOPT 그만큼 한국어가 한국인에게도 어렵긴하죠 ㅋㅋ
아무리 공부하고 공부해도 어려운 문법..
The premiere always comes and I get so excited and THEN I LEARN I HAVE TO WAIT 30 HOURS 😭😭😭😂
It’s either 30 hours or 2 minutes, nothing in between 😂🤧🙃
I'm not even learning Korean, but Lindie's videos are addictive 😭 (Plus, almost all languages follow the same learning methods!)
For real. I just watch all the videos she makes. Even if the video would be called "how to get into a deadly accident", I would still watch it 😂😂
@@AfroLinguo Yess, she definitely has a "I'll watch whatever you put out" aura!
Everything you said is so accurate, especially about how you can learn a lot about someone by how they spend their time.
Yeah, you can learn a language for literally any reason, but a language takes a LOT of time and work to even get to the intermediate level, much less an advanced level, so at the end of the day, it's all about if you're putting in the time and effort into making some progress.
True, you would think that a language like French or Spanish which is closer to English would be easier but no, it still takes hundreds or hundred or hours or even thousands to achieve that native-like fluency.
Exactly. I feel like most people are impatient and want results now, rather than taking the time to get a great foundation of habits, so that they will definitely have results in the future, with little effort and stress. I learn chinese like for 1 hour on italki every week and I do 1 hour of self studying and three years later, this has helped me reach B1 level in chinese.
I agree with her statement. It really depends on how you study or engage with that specific language. I've been into Korean for almost 7 years but have never had enough time to practice Korean. I kept watching videos with subs, then no subs and now I can understand almost everything but I still don't know how to write easy A1 words although I know how to use abbreviations in social media.
My writing also sucks because I watch tv and speak, but never write and Korean isn’t super-phonetic, so there are multiple possibilities for how to spell stuff.
i've been learning korean since 2018 and i'm at the point where i can fluently read novels without ever learning from a textbook, i'm really proud of myself for it hehe, learning korean THROUGH korean (webtoons and then novels)
it's why i think i have a lot of confidence in making sentences myself, because i don't have to think 'am i translating this literally from english? does this phrase really exist?' because i can trust i've seen it somewhere before + my subconscious is just providing it back to me; i'm not just using something i've made up and convinced myself is natural...
i really wanna start learning a second language but nothing is as interesting to me as korean in terms of alphabet, native words, and grammar. korean is such a gem, a whole language family of itself... i'm satisfied with only knowing korean tbh, it's such a good language
i'm finally old enough to take TOPIK this year + i'm applying for study abroad to my dream korean uni for next year (so i could totally take topik then) but i honestly don't even hold topik as a goal anymore. like you said, it focuses on a very limited range of korean, someone could get topik level 6 but not have the ability to read a book etc... i think it focuses too much on science + political vocab which is hardly important as much as adjectives for describing a person/personality etc.
still insecure about speaking, despite any compliments on my pronunciation, but i'm really making progress starting to speak on calls with my friends, which took me ages to get comfortable with. and of course speaking in korean class (my uni major) is helping a lot !!
anyway this was just a personal ramble i don't expect anyone to read lmao
Did you look up all the new words?
I would love to learn Korean trough reading and stuff but I feel like I need a basic level for it (despite Hangeul of course)
I learned English through CZcams and books but I also had classes in school so already new the basics..
@@eli_plum yes, i literally searched up and wrote down EVERY unknown word i saw, saving it in my phone notes so i can find it whenever it’s on the tip of my tongue, it’s a great method for long-term memory reinforcement !!
@@chloe8387 Thank you for the tip!
@@eli_plum you’re welcome!! it’s really daunting at first, but slowly it becomes like a puzzle, where there’s less missing pieces in each text you read 💝
how did you learn it so well through books and webtoons? I studied level 3 and 4 this year in a Korean university so I have quite a good base but I have so much trouble going through novels. I don't feel like it's helping me at all. So if you're still active on this yt account I would love to know how you read them haha
Please do a video like this on Japanese as well ♥️
Thanks Lindie ♥️
I attended 3 months intensive Korean language course level 2/6 in a Korean University and was able to improve my language level much faster than studying just independently at home. Maybe it was the teacher, environment or even motivation but it was the best decision and was lucky to have the opportunity to visit Korea. I even made Korea Vlog with the time I spent there. Definitely, I recommend to learn the language in that country if possible 😊
Tbh, I'm getting into the whole "-은/는" and "이/가" thing at the moment. It hasn't seemed to be too challenging so far, but it's adding an entirely new dynamic to interpreting sentences. It can take a simple sentence, "Today the weather is nice.", and turn it into "At least the weather is nice TODAY (as opposed to every other day)", or "At least THE WEATHER is nice today (as opposed to literally everything else)". And honestly, I'm feeling like that's going to be a lot to consider, as it seems like the next chapter is going to build off of this. I have no idea what to expect in chapter 10 of TTIK.
I'm in the same chapter too lol! I'm using TTMIK as well.
Guys don't worry too much about it :) I have used the TTMIK books as well and I absolutely love them. You don't have to force yourself and try too hard to understand it. With time and exposure to the korean language, it will just come to you naturally. ^^
I also want do add that lessons in the TTMIK book aren't necessarily become harder and harder in each level.
There are just some Grammar structures that are important and basic but are hard to grasp for beginners.
There will always be lessons that will seem easier, or harder, no matter what level you are at!
So don't worry about what is yet to come, 화이팅! You can do it♡
Ah, I don’t know how to explain it but if you study Japanese as well, particles 은/는 and 이/가 are pretty comparable with は and が.
@@lilyraimey3499 but also は being used as a comparative marker is so confusing
I really wanted to learn Korean so bad 😩 Ive learned hangeul and a few words. But that's just it. My goal is just to understand Korean so I can watch my variety shows and dramas without having to really focus on screen for the subtitles.
Same. I could watch k-dramas and variety shows if i could understand at least the conversation.
Yeshh Finally this video is coming 😌 thankyou soo much for making it . 고마워요. 넌 최고야.
Love your hair❤💖
Hi Lindie. Please do a video like this about japanese.
this might be a too-academic approach, but as for pronunciation/accent, i think general knowledge of phonetics and the International Phonetic Alphabet (and mapping that to 한글) is IMMENSELY helpful. It also helped me figure out where the sound gaps are between english (native language) and korean
Your commitment to learn a language and ability to be able to speak in it is so admirable and amazing!!! It helps people realize that’s it’s possible to actually accomplish. Very helpful Q&A! Maybe down the line I will try Korean. Thanks for sharing! UPDATE: 9 months later and I finally started like a week ago 😂💛✨
How is it going?
So inspiring! Thank you so much Lindie!
Thank you for posting this video! My long term goal is to be fluent in Korean in a few years. I know it’s not gonna be overnight but I’m putting in the work daily, even if it’s only 15 minutes of learning vocabulary words I immerse myself as much as possible. Your content keeps me so motivated and I look forward to more content from you!! 감사합니다!!
저도. 매일 공부해요! 화이팅! I think every day study, even if it's only a little is what's made a big difference for me the past few months.
여러분이 한국어 열심히 공부하는 모습을 보기가 정말 좋습니다! 같이 화이팅해요!!
Yes! 🙌Thank you Lindie. My goal is to be a polyglot, 💜 I'm learning Japanese. 🇯🇵 When it comes to Korean I struggle with the pronunciations and choosing the right resources to learn. 🇰🇷
Same. I've been learning both Korean and Japanese for the past 6 months or so. My progress is very low, but I'm not giving up.
Fighting!!!!
@@111abraxas13 Nice! 🤩 Don't give up on your studies. 頑張ろ! ❤👏
Same here, although I'm focused just on Korean for the time being. My plan is to get into Japanese by next year
Same. Japanese Is going well, but i'm having problems with korean. I still have to find something that works for me.
I just want to say that I'm so glad I found your channel, I love watching you videos and it gets me so motivated to learn more!
I’m native Korean teacher!😁😁 This video is really interesting🇰🇷🇰🇷👍👍재밌어요!!
Yes, please, part II! I love the Korean language 🇰🇷
I always feel so motivated after watching your videos, thank you!!
It was really helpful Lindie ❤ Thank you so much ❤ I will be waiting for the part two of this video 😍
Thank you, Lindie! The content you make is amazing and really helpful for me, especially this video (and other ones) regarding learning Korean as I have just started learning it :) my goal is to get to the intermediate level and to be able to have casual conversations. I'm so excited for this new language learning journey ;D English is my second language and hopefully Korean will be the third.
Your hair is so beautiful!
Thank you for the amazing video!!!
Thanks Lindie you made me love to learn languages☺️
Lindie you are my inspiration. Now i am learning korea, Japanese, Chinese .
Thank you for sharing these tips Lindie. You are such an inspiration. And yes, please do a part 2. 🙂
This video is super helpful to advice for my Korean learning students!! I just have absorbed whole time while watching this video!! Thank you for this informative video!!!
Really loved the vibe of your previous video!
Please do a part 2! This is very informative and gives me motivation to learn something new every time I watch your videos!!
Just a video that i was looking for. I feel like i need to talk more after 1.5 years.
Thanks Lindie
진짜 너무 짱 멋져요ㅠㅠㅠ love ur vids so much
excellent, your study tips are valid for which language you learn, thanks for all.
Love what you said about having an accent, I didn't think of turning that into something to self-reflect about
Loving your hair lindie!
Hilokal sounds like a great app. I'm pretty nervous about my Korean speaking so practicing without having to look at people's faces is great.
Thank you so much for everything! It was very useful😊
Lindie...you just blew my mind. Talking about how ㅗ and ㅓ have those different mouth shapes...you just helped me out so much! Why isn't that something you read about more often when trying to distinguish the sounds?!!?! Thank you!!
Thanks for the tips, I'm starting Korean and Italian this year while currently practicing and improving my Spanish and French. So, my goal this year is to learn Hangul and some vocab then we progress to something more... Thanks for being so inspiring!!!
I've been learning Korean for 3 years with a pause in 2020 for obvious reasons, it took me time to find again the motivation to keep going but I love the language and culture so I got back to learning but now I'm not rushing I'm taking my time, I know that at the end I will achieve my goal go speak Korea 화이팅
You have beautiful hair! 💖
WE NEED A PART TWO 💖
Your voice is so soothing, I love it ❤
OMG!! Listening to korean is so cool. It sounds really nice.
I absolutely love your hair!!!
I am currently studying Korean, definitely going to try these out!
I have a tip for those who are kind of stuck in the intermediate level, watch korean variety shows! Korea have variety shows for so many topics so I'm almost totally sure you can find something you'd like to watch, I started to feel a bit tired to study textbooks and stuff, so I just went to entertain myself with koreans shows that I really like, and it was SO beneficial, I learned so many words and phrases and grammar patterns, the variety shows where they show people's daily life's are the best for, but you can watch anything you'd like, and it really doesn't feel like you're studying at all, my first one was The Return of the Superman, a classic! Bit again just try to find something you like and enjoy!
True. I do this as a beginner ❤
As an ARMY who always watch BTS show, this is an absolute WIN to me
👁️👄👁️
I completely agree with Lindie on the 한자 (Chinese characters). It is very advantageous if you know them. I know Chinese and Japanese very well and it helped me a lot to grasp new vocabulary.
I work in a technical branch with Korean and if I did not know basic hanja I would be deeeeed haha
Nice I’m looking for this!
올해부터 한국어를 공부하기 시작했어요!!!! 린디 씨, 영감을 주셔서 고마워요! 언젠가 한국어를 잘 할 수 있었으면 좋겠어요. 🥺🙏🏻
Your hair! Love it. 👍🏼🙏🏼 I spent two hours last night trying to dissect two Japanese sentences. It seems hopeless. 😁 I would imagine Korean is just as difficult to learn. Great video. 👍🏼
Thanks for the HiLokal tip. I've been looking for free options to improve my speaking and listening skills :)
Also try hello talk to find a partner you can study with
thanks for the tips! i want to focus on it a lot this academic year
You got this!
Thank you for your advice
I tried Hilokal (listening rn) and thank you! Hahaha
I love hearing you speak Korean
I absolutely love the hair, ... and the tips 😊
Would love a part 2!
what a great job ... keep it up ! and thanks !
Felt that bit about using tests as motivation. It’s why I read 2000 kanji now, taking the Japanese Kanji test.
Your videos are so helpful!감 사 함 니다.
I am a korean learner.....😊😊😊
Very interesting advices to learn any languages...maybe i will start to learn Korean as a beginner... thanks LindieBotes teacher.
This hair is so good!!
Thank you for recommending spongemind lindie..i loved the content there. And your new hair colour suits you very much. Good day ☺️
Gracias por los links en la descripción, le regalaré a mi mamá uno de los libros que recomiendas 😊😊
omg I've been religiously using hilokal, I can't BELIEVE I missed you 😂 I even recognise some of the people in that chat room hahahah omg
IMPRESSIVE! 멋져요 린다님
I remember watching her videos on Korean saying she got comfortable in 2.5 years. "oh so i can do the same?" I thought. No. I couldn't. 5 years in and my speaking level is still very low because I didn't practice a enough. I got very discouraged in the process. I just started to practice a little more and overcome my speaking "anxiety". I'm writing this to let anyone know who didn't "get fluent and/or comfortable in 2 years", YOU WILL GET THERE. YOU DIDN'T WASTE YOUR TIME. You have a lot information stored in your brain that needs to be activated. When you're going to practice is obviously your choice but I promise you that you can do it.
please do a part 2!
This was so informative. I am basic 2- intermediate 1 level in Korean and agree with everything you said. Korean is harder than i though. The script is so easy that it almost made me believe language is going to be easier. But is it not. I do take breaks so it is taking me longer to get to upper intermediate level than i thought. But hey, as you said, it is a hobby for me and i am taking it slow and really enjoying it. Thanks for a great video! 😃
PS - And about accent- yes you will improve as you speak more and more!
Loving the pink hair though. I need to get out of school so I can do it.
For accents, I think a native accent is less important than an understandable relatively natural and flowing accent. If people aren’t struggling to understand you and you can communicate your ideas, fine.
I know it's not related to the video, but I love your hair! 😍
gracia lindie estoy estudiando coreano tambien.
Great video thank you for sharing
I'm gonna start learning Korean in a few months after I get better at German and French so this is really helpful! I'm less intimidated and confused by it now, watching this made me really excited to start learning Korean haha
How's you german journey going?
Hiiii!!! Thank you for this video, it just made me inspired again to continue my study in korean... i think my work exhausted me too much.. though, but since i'm working in a kr company (and hearing kr words every single day), i must take advantage of it!! Have a nice day~

Correct
Do you speak Korean?
감사합니다 😃👍
Thanks
Damn i was just starting out with Korean and found your vdo. Thanks ❤️❤️
I’ve been learning several Languages, for some reason I got hooked… I’m trying the stack method but it’s slowing me down… i need to focus on one language after another.. but it’s a good testing skill…
Literally started learning Korean this week 🙌 This will be so helpful!
how is it going?:)
감사합니다 린디 씨 :)
Love your videos!! Could you please make something similar in French please???
I can relate to most of what you said here btw. I'm taking TOPIK II in a month, but to be honest I decided to take the exam just to motivate myself to push through a mental block cause I felt I was losing motivation and drive, despite the fact that I truly love this language. I just needed to strive for something more 'solid' instead of just 'fluency' - a more "measurable" goal, so to speak :D I also teach Korean to beginners (1&2급) - it also really helps with motivation but consumes a whole lot of time tho lol
읽기와 쓰기가 가장 무서운 시험의 일부인 것 같아요. 어떤 언어로든 이러한 유형의 활동이 더 어려워요 ㅠㅠ
Thank you for the great tips!
Ok but likeeeeee what’s your ideal type??? 👀
I'm not interested in learning Korean at the moment, but honestly how can I get a notification from Lindie's channel and not watch?
AHH THANKS💓
WOW! RESPECTED!
I love your hair and your tips obviously haha
Love your hair
한국어를 열씸히 공부해 주셔서 감사드려요~
I'd buy pretty much anything you recommend...wondering if you can affiliate-link to any refillable pens, eco-friendly notebooks? Love this behind-the-scenes look as well as the bit about that space rock, or whatever that was. Adorb 🧑🚀
Please make the same for other languages too.
Your hair is hella pretty
