Hey guys! So I put this Merle video together after editing to multiple songs and finding that none of them gave me the kind of inspiration like it gave me with this one. Anyways, this video obviously focuses on Merle and how he finally started to redeem himself before he died. Honestly, I will really miss him. He became one of my favorite characters over this season, and it's such a shame that he died.
Song inspiration: • Breaking Bad || Nobody...

This video shows how badass Merle was. Kinda wish he was still alive. Shane too.
ThatGamerGuy me too

He may have been racist. he may have been violent. He may have been stubborn. He may have, at times, been selfish. But he gave his life to give his brother's friends, who hated, handcuffed, abandoned, and disregarded him, extra time to fight for their lives. All because his little brother cared about them. It's not how big your sacrifice is that matters. It's what your sacrificing for. And, all the way to the end, he accepted that getting shot by The Governor was his fate, and he didn't beg, cry, or insult him. He just made it clear to him that he was going to die if he had to, as long as he knew the people he sought to defend got a chance to outdo him. Rest in Peace, Merle Dixon. You had flaws at the beginning, but a true heart and soul in the end.
Very well put, he totally redeemed himself. Sad that we lost this character just as he began to change for good.
Johnathan T We can be sad about his death, yes, but we never have to feel bad about "losing him", because he did what he wanted: Bought his brother and his friends just enough time to defend their lives against such a strong army, and spared the life of one of their most trusted and needed allies. He may be gone, but he went out loud and proud giving them "a fighting chance", even if he didn't kill the Governor. Let's just be as glad as he is that he died the way he truly wanted: helping those he cared about deep down.
This is such an amazing comment. I totally agree with you, this is everything that I could tell about Merle. Greetings from Hungary
johnnymccraze Yes that is absolutely true, but it is a pity how he could have integrated into the group (though Glenn seems like he never ever wants to reconcile with him) rather than casting himself as an outsider all over again. Great acting by Michael Rooker, best TWD character.
Ádám Horváth Greetings and Thanks from Massachusetts :)
Lived as shit, died as a man. RIP Merle...
"You either die a Hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become a villain" -Merle Dixon
He never said that
He did...
Nope, that was Harvey Dent :P
Kristyn Mcneil What episode then?
ZionSype he did say it .. probably wasn't the original person to first say it but he did
Best character in The Walking Dead in my opinion, and Michael Rooker, damn good actor
+אביתר הדר nah i think rick in season 4 5 6. brutal as fuck love it
Most badass man in TWD. Now he is dead and part of show died with him...
True. Now it's up to Daryl to make his story known.
justa juĝisto makrás ípatos true dat
That's true
Imagine him or Shane facing Negan!
Sir Crocodile
The whole group would be dead.
Waldo Merl and Shane vs Negan and the Governor
PatrioticPotato it wouldn't work, Shane became a crazy, he's way of fighting would end up getting everyone killed, and as of merl idk
Negan would've needed his shitting pants...
🥺
When Merle said, "I ain't gonna beg. I'm not begging you!" I pictured him saying that to his father. I'm sure Merle had his fill of abuse in that house, just like Daryl did.. It's just a nice thought... imagining him standing up to his dad.
---
"Look at you, kid..." The father looked down at his son's bloody, beaten face in pure amusement. His breath smelled of alcohol."You gonna beg me to stop?"
The child stared up into his eyes with a cold gaze. A grimace formed on his lips. "I ain't gonna beg. I'm not begging you!"
---
^ Just pictured something like that in my head. A younger Merle, fighting his dad.
That's a cool theory! In an interview I read recently, Merle's actor Michael Rooker said he was talking to God when he said he wasn't going to beg:
“When I did my final line, “I ain’t gonna beg”, it was directed towards God, no one else. Not the Governor, not anyone. He knew he was finished, and there was no way he was gonna get out of this. So at that moment in time, he’s talking to his Maker. He’s still not gonna beg, even at that final moment. And you know, I threw that in. It wasn’t in the script. I threw that in because I knew what I wanted to do, but I hadn’t told anyone. I was trying to find the right moment to lay it out there, which was right before my death, and that was pure and simple ad-libbing. It was really cool that I had the opportunity to do it.”
Gotta love the character.
In the end he showed that the love to his brother was stronger than anything else.
When the producers killed off Merle Dixon, they removed the best actor from the show. Michael Rooker, in my opinion, had the best thespian talents of any actor on TWD.
+Jake Wade oh my god now I'm imagining it it would be awesome!!!
I posted a comment about this, but as much as I loved Merle and thought he was a badass, I feel like he'd be a very bad influence for Daryl, and I feel like Rick is a better person for Daryl than Merle was
I think Merle was just to damn unpredictable. He was a loose cannon and I don't think any story arc could see him completely turn himself around. And I feel the group would never truly trust or accept him. Everyone knows, as much of a badass Daryl is, deep down he's very vulnerable and he needs a steady, reliable influence like Rick. He needs the Brother who would never have walked out on him as a kid. And he finally has that with Rick. I'd love to see Merle go toe to toe with negan but I could just as easily see him revere Negan for being everything he ultimately respects and switching sides. Negan wanted Daryl - he'd want Merle too and I'm willing to bet he'd openly take him up on that offer...
Such an underrated actor
He is the toughest survivor in the series
Merle DID kill Merle he knew he would die if he tried to assassinate the Phillip but decided to give it a go to protect those who despised him, he said himself that they would never accept him, Merle made his choice to die knowing Daryl would never leave the group and that he could never join it. RIP Merle
Great point
I Know its sad tho he was my favourite character on the show to this day that'll never change
Wow.. very true point.
I felt for him man,,, he really wanted to be someone but he couldnt explain his actions since he was confused about himself,,, michonne made him discover his tru self and he died to protect those who tried to help
He was an asshole, but he had a heart. His words were cold but his eyes told another story. A Fantastic character, one I will miss dearly!
TheMuaythaikidd so true unlike Negan.
RIP Merle....You were a douchebag but, you were so badass. Love you man.
He was a complete jerk, but he was the group's jerk. I did hate him for a while, but it did feel like losing a friend when he died.
Bob Jones He was THIS close to redeeming himself ...
Is it wrong I cried when he died?
R.I.P Merle you was a racist douchebag but you was our racist douchebag and I cried too when he died
Maybethistimewalkingdead willstay Well, i did the same
"I ain't beggin' you!"
That line will forever be remembered when you think of Merle.
You have to admit that Merle could have been what the grope really needed. He was a good fighter and he was loyal to those who he thought deserved it. and in all honesty they never earned it. He got himself killed because he thought it was the only way he could show what he could do for the grope and the worse part was that they will never know what he sacrificed. He was cold, mean and rude. but he wasn't evil and the grope lost what could have been a grate ally. Like if you agree :)
The Grope? Do you mean the group?
Personally, while Rick was the leader, I just called it the "Ricktatorship"
***** Sorry I hate it when I miss spell. Yes I mean Group ;)
Merle was just what the grape needed
With a name Christopher Johnson thought your spelling would be alittle bette,r we understand you though.😅 hehe
It brakes my heart seeing daryl crying. Rip Merle. He was one of the best characters of TWD ❤️
I can't get over of Merle's death. I was traumatized when i saw him died and depressed. They killed the best actor in the show. Merle ( Michael Rooker ).
Rip Merle You're one of my favorite characters in TWD since the beginning. I misx you Merle Dixon.
God I miss you Merle.
Merle just needed to be handled like Daryl was in season 2. If people would've given Merle a chance, he would've become their second strongest ally (and in //some// aspects better than Daryl.) It was a shame that they had to treat him like garbage and make him feel like he could never be a good man. Also, my ship sunk before it even sailed. Merchonne would've been so hot. Michonne and Merle had insane chemistry. They kind of reminded me of a warped Zoe and Wash (from Firefly.) RIP Merle. ;^;
TWD was never as good when they killed him..
same goes for Shane
Hakyfuzz Merle was the show’s best after Shane, when both of them were gone there was an energy that just wasn’t there anymore.
@@thefakenotckh5062 exactly
Season 3 was the last of the elite TWD After Merle dies
Best damn character in The Walking Dead.. My favorite between both the comics and the show.. One of my favorite actors as well, Michael Rooker has such a menacing southern voice, and he always plays the badass henchmen type... I wish we could have seen him and Daryl interact a bit more, when they did they argued alot, I would have loved to seen them take out a group of The Governor's men together.. Merle Dixon rules..
Merle is one of the most underrated Characters in twd I just wish he had more screen time
I didn't become shit that I didn't want to become.
I love your brother you and Daryl would be a asome team.
THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
@@leonacrow1115 i bet u r marred and have children now
Married*
Merle why did you leave us:(
StrangeWolf he left the show cause he had other careers
“I ain’t gonna beg you now... I ain’t gonna beg, I ain’t begging you!!”
Merle was raw as fuckkkk and I genuinely wish they could have got him to join the family whole-heartedly despite the shit with Maggie and Glen debacle lol
Norman Reedus in that last scene is amazing.
Killed off too soon. Merle was one of the most intriguing characters.
im not fan of the character but more of the actor he did a fucking great job with merle. micheal rooker is damn good actor. wish i could see more of him
Omg i cry...
my favourite walking dead tv series character
Merle still rocks
oh man, right in the feels yet again
RIP Merle . Heroes are Forgotten Legends Never Die you went out a beast
Not only did MERLE Saw off his own hand. He limped to safety while losing blood, sealed the wound, and turned the stump into a WEAPON. That's pioneer ingenuity at its most BAD ASS FINEST!! You Rock Merle!
Merle: hey little brother
Daryl: yeah..?
Merle: I’ll be waiting for you on the other side.
by far the most interisting charakter on the whole show. Michael Rooker a god among actors!
This is amazing, great job!!!
+Hally O'Brien Thanks so much!!
The Begging scenes are Fantastic on this video Great job!!!!!!!!
+Jack Marko Thanks so much!!!
Rewatching TWD and realizing how much good Merle secretly wanted to do. He became a monster because he was raised by one. But deep down he could’ve been as good as Daryl. He was just scared to feel and let himself be that good man. The way he was raised, being that good man meant weakness. He cut Michonne loose and let her go back to the prison, tried to stop the Governor, and took out as many of the Woodbury soldiers as he could in the process. He kept track of how many living people he had killed. 16. Just like Michonne said, the real truly evil people? They don’t care. Their actions don’t weigh on them. But Merle felt all the weight of his actions. He kept score. He remembered. He tried his best to save his brother. When it came down to it, Merle Dixon went down trying to do the right thing.
Great edit! Merle had not that much time on the show but it was impactful. And he was on the path to change, so he was a better person in the end
Damn, two years later and im still fucking pissed about this death. Great video though ;)
2021 and I’m still pissed and mourning him he was the best character or atleast one of the best
@@mad_marine053 Yeah me too man. He was such a bad-ass tbh.
One of my favorite TWD characters.
Great tribute.
I commented on this video 6 years ago and I left a comment on your more recent Joker edit as well, and I must say... I am glad I found you so long ago. I went back to this to somewhat compare how much you’ve improved, and I’m STILL awestruck by the thought and effort you put into these videos. Don’t let anyone doubt your talent. I live in small Ohio town, and I remember how many mornings I’d watch your videos before getting up for school. I graduated 4 years ago and still remember every video I watched by you. That’s how much I enjoyed them. 🥰 thank you!
if i were softer, i would sob over merle
This video is just goddamn awesome and those begging scenes...man, that´s pure perfection.

FREAKING AMAZING!!! He had so much potential and he was such an interesting character! I wish they hadn't kill him
+Your Angel why would you think that? (I'm really curious about Merle not being for the new world order)
Merle almost killed the governor. But that kid Ben took the bullet.that's what got Merle killed. I like how he says, "i ain't gonna beg"in season 1 and he said it again before he died in season 3.cool video
You always make the best Walking Dead tributes! :)
It's perfectly fine. Thank you very much for fixing it :)
