- When the 2019 Kawasaki KX450 appeared, all thought and discussion of the 2018 model was put on hold. The new bike was a show-stopper. But the older KX is lighter and has a sweet power delivery and many riders still prefer. For this episode of the Hardware Video Series, we take our 2018 Kawasaki and pay attention to the specific flaws that held it back. We couldn’t give it electric start, but we could make it into a performer, capable of holding its own in the current 450 class. We wanted a completely different look for our Specbolt Kawasaki KX450 build. We installed an Acerbis all black plastics kit, Backyard Designs matte graphics, SDG seat cover and green accent pieces throughout. Major suspension upgrades were made by Race Tech that included Gold Valves and a Spring Fork conversion. Bolt-On upgrades galore! P3 Carbon skid plate, Boyesen Supercooler, Rekluse Torque Drive kit, Ride Engineering performance link, CV4 Hoses, IMS Pegs and a Titanium Pro Circuit Exhaust. Internally we installed stage 2 Hot Cams, high compression piston, and a Rekluse Torque Drive clutch pack for a little added performance without going overboard. Our KX450 is adorn with Specbolt Nickel Wurks hardware throughout. The matte finish of the Backyard Designs custom graphics match perfectly with the custom SDG seat cover.

interesting additions prefer seeing the install , instead of bike going in circles.
Exactly
i have a leftover '17 and only road it 1 time with the stock clamps and gearing. the stock bike felt too long and over geared. the RE clamps made the bike feel shorter and, dare i say it, turn like a honda. they made the whole bike quicker handling as well. it still has big time stability too. we all know the spring conversion will put it on par with any reworked stock gear but i am staying with the TAC fork as its the best stock fork i have ridden and that includes my 2018 kx250f and '18/'19 ktm's. the stock mapping is terrible. there is a lot to be gained just with that.
"Let's see how good this brand new bike is by adding all this bolt on stuff to it"
Love the vids
In Australia these bikes retail over 10 grand ! ?
More of these!
So the big question is: Do you have faster laptimes on the modified kx450f 2018 modell, compared to the kx450 2019?
Best Regards Christoffer
Does it have a start button ?
Then it’s not better
2018 weighs about 3 pounds less without that electric gaff
I'm gonna convert either this KX450 or the Rockstar Edition Husky 450 into a SUMO. I can't wait lmao
Would be a lot cooler if it were 2 stroke
Home much did it cost?
Can't understand why you pay big bucks for a bike then you spend 1/2 the purchase price on upgrades wtf !
Big bucks ! Kawasaki had rebates on 2018's . I picked one up for $5799 a couple of months ago .
Exactly, you want to compare it against the new one, for that $$$ u spent on aftermarket you might have as well bought the new one
Yeaaaaa NO.
We all know dialed suspension, dialed power to rider, dialed handling ie triple clamps, is gonna beat a newer stock bike... even a dialed 2012 would, i would like to know how much difference is there in a dialed 2018 or a even dialed 2012 is to a dialed 2019.... please do that.....i can tell you right now (none).
Click bait
Really? We would love for you to suggest a more appropriate title
