Fun fact: you can also walk around that gate
I didn't even know you could open it lol, I went around as well
Yeah same. I thought "well that was easy", didn't realize it was even easier
yeah I walked to the left with ease and was FLABBERGASTED when I saw my bf open it lmao
Jajajajja I did that to 😂
@@puredruid same
The best part about Tears of the Kingdom having a vast selection of tools is that you can accidentally forget some problems have really easy and simple solutions.
Got stuck in a shrine this morning, died twice to fire and gravity before I suddenly remembered you can make rising platforms with Rewind.
I had issues after taking the zora domain shrine to get up to them. Had to swim and climb a lot... until i realized i can simply ascend.
i be climbing large structures and forget that you can phase through them sometimes
@@Kamon181I find that most people who played botw are still stuck on the old ways 😂
@@inspectorvoidyeah it got me a little time on the big sky island cause in front of the ascend shrine there was a tree platform and I cut a tree and put it next to it so I could climb and after I saw that I could just ascend 😅
this is such a mood I keep forgetting i can literally swim through ceilings
Yeah that one probably took me the longest to get used to, and yes, I still forget from time to time. That shit is nifty
But once you get used to it you start seeing places in real life you want to ascend through
I made a comment before finding this but I did this same thing when stuck in a well without a ladder, 1st or even the 2nd time I fell into a well only to notice their was no ladder out I just ended up warping to somewhere never considering that Upheaval would be useful for these situations, as much as that was the plan the devs obviously wished for us to grasp.
@William Mackay-murphy Nah bro, you just been playing way too long, Thats when you need to take a break lol. I definitely don't bring the gaming experience into my real life. I've been there before though with skyrim
there are hundreds of people who forget that they can recover any object that falls from a cliff using Recall.
I literally just walked around it because I was so used to only grabbing very specifically textured metal objects from Breath of the Wild.
This taught me to pretty much check everything to see if it was grabbable with Ultrahand.
You know that same door was in botw and you could grab it right??
@@thechugg4372 shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh the material changed and it's been years since i played botw *i'm gonna forget some stuff it's OKAY*
To be fair I had completely forgotten that the ultrahand can grab almost anything so this flew over my head too lmao
Same lmao
I mean that gate can be opened with magnesis in botw
@@Zant582 Thats point, he thought “i dont have magnesis anymore so i cant open the gate” not realizing he could also use ultrahand
The first time I played botw, I didn’t relive you could swim up with the Zora armor so I used cryosis to create ice blocks to climb the giant waterfalls 💀
me too i just went around the gate
I forgot I had ultrahand and i was sitting there like “is the door gonna open” and then realized
I did the exact same thing the first time I went over to that gate lmao
i honestly did not think other people would fail to just use ultrahand on the gate 😂
I only thought to use Ultrahand on the door because I’ve been raving to everyone for the last month about how Ultrahand is Magnesis but you can use it on everything and stick stuff together. Since you used Magnesis to open the door in the last game, I just made the connection
I just walked around
@@Juanpopspacks same
I love how all of us did exactly the same thing, either went around or climbed over it … despite opening countless doors with magnesis in BOTW
Nah I remembered magnesis opened that door in BOTW so I just used ultrahand.
Actually making the gate out of metal was sort of genius design bc many people would connect it to the magnesis ability and go to use their ability. I notice this a lot throughout the game, a lot of the tutorials aren't outright stated but just implied through the environment which does mean everyone is gonna miss at least one of them but the new tools provide so many different solutions to solving a problem that it isn't so big of a deal if someone does miss a tutorial
It’s more that that gate was literally already made of metal in the first game and you had to open it with magnesis then.
It didn't open right away for me, so I thought it was stuck. I convinced myself this mofo wouldn't open till I completed a quest somewhere and I was too lazy to bother with a whole ass quest to open a door. I ended up climbing it and only figured it out on my second playthrough :)
That spray bottle laugh got me 🤣
Ultrahand is basically Magnesis+++ as it can be used on most items or objects that are not just metal and can be used to attach things together
Still sad they removed bombs, I wanted to windbomb so badly. It's in my blood at this point, the game feels sooooooooooo much bigger (and slower tbh) if you can't windbomb everywhere
@@KryptoKn8 I’m glad they removed it. It’s forcing me to explore (which I love doing regardless) and it gives purpose to the landmarks that launch you into the sky as it promotes normally intended sky travel
@@KryptoKn8 Skyview towers feel a billion times better than windbombs (and this is coming from a former windbomb addict). This game would lose so much if every traversal challenge was solved by windbombs
@@apersonwhomayormaynotexist9868 well tbf nothing forces you go use a windbomb to travel across the entire map in one go, but I find it very annoying to be close to some canyon that I want to cross, only to figure I dont have the parts to build something to help me, gliding + climbing wouldn't work because stamina so I have to walk 10 minutes around the entire thing
@KryptoKn8 the entire trick to getting around now is building vehicles haha
As a DM of D&D, you guys would be amazed by the amount of times a simple unlocked door caused more trouble than a boss LOL
Or how many times people forget that you can sometimes just go around buildings or rocks if they are in your way
Is the door trapped tho?
@@AQWninjanani No, just a door
Every. Time. 60 Minute debate on whether or not they should open the door they're standing in front of.
Is door a mimic?
Bro… I’ll so glad I’m not the only one who overdid this simple moment 😂😂 I definitely used the ascension perk to get up to a tiny ledge on the door ☠️☠️☠️😂
i was so used to doing this with magensis that my first instinct was to use ultrahand not even realizing i was in a new game at the time, i did a lot of storming the castle at 3 hearts so yeah this is muscle memory to me now
Tears of the Kingdom sometimes make us feel dumb sometimes.
Totk do be an iq test.
Early on, yes. However, once I figured out the door... I've done a lot of "very smart" stuff in the game. The game only "stumped" me once after that, and it was because I forgot I had the paraglider (there's a distinct lack of use of the paraglider in this game unless you have a ton of stamina).
There was a shrine that was like, "go up!" and the initial room only provided a fan you could carry and hit. I tried to do a bunch of stuff with getting it up on the ledge, or having it knock me up there, and other nonsense. I went, "there's no way this is meant to be this hard, I'm missing something". Then I went, "wait, it produces a strong wind current. I have a glider." I laid it on the floor, whacked it, jumped into the air over it, deployed glider, and up I went. The rest of the shrine was easy.
Tears of the Kingdom only gets hard because the player forgets what they have access to.
I had a similar thing with my weapons. I was like, "why are all my weapons constantly weak?". I thought I could only combine weapons with objects in the world. Didn't realize I could slam two weapons together to make much better weapons. Broke portions of the combat when all the early game enemies are fighting me with my 25+ weapons and only 5 heart containers.
Also imagine my delight when I could pull objects out of the air with the "rewind time" thing and send it back to enemies. Enemies kicked a big rolling ball at me? REWIND TIME! back up to them!
Never forget what abilities you have access to. If you remember, pretty much every challenge in the game is a cakewalk.
EDIT: Also, don't forget that you can create a really big ledge, or something on an "overhang" on a ledge and then use the "go up through solid matter" power to get up there. It will keep you from building crazy ramps and stuff, when all you need is like... two objects slammed together to make a "ceiling" to travel through. I call it... THE SUPER JUMP! Because, that's basically what it is. It's got a huge range up in the air it will activate on. Can even build "simple ladders" for this power.
@@XxTaiMTxX The bit that has me stumped is the Ascend ability. Paraglider I use often despite stamina being worse here is because I played a lot of BotW and Genshin, gliding is still a great form of travel despite the fact.
The other hard part is learning how to build shit. Some things work in theory, but getting it to actually work is a different story. A lot of these shrines are teaching you how to play with your new toys rather than mini mini dungeons. That shrine with the fan had me stumped because I attached 2 fans to the bottom of the last platform and it didn't go up. Which drove me crazy. After restarting, it worked the second time. I've no idea what I did wrong the first time but it's making me dumb lmao
@@XxTaiMTxX i feel you on the paraglider, i found that shrine before i even recieved it.
@@kyotanaka920 Sometimes, it's just a matter of "balancing" the stuff as you attach it.
Frequently, I don't like "building" anything, because it just takes too long. So, most of what I build is just like "attach sail to two pieces of logs for boat" or "attach motor to single log for boat" or "make really long plank for ramp or bridge".
There's a remarkable amount of problems you can solve by "make really long plank for ramp or bridge".
I tend to use "Ascend" when I just don't want to make a really long ramp. I"ll just slap two flat pieces together, put it up on a ledge, and then ascend through it to get up there.
Though, for a while, in the mountains, I was just basically carrying along an "Ascend Ladder". Like... it was for platforms high, and then I just "L Shaped" a platform on the bottom and the top. The one on the bottom was so it was "stable" when I set it down. The one on the top was so I could use "Ascend" on it. I got a LOT of high places very easily and very quickly by bringing my "Ascend Ladder" with me.
I just don't use the glider much. I can't prove it, but it feels very bad now. Like, it feels like it eats my stamina too quickly now, and like it doesn't travel "as fast" now. And, since I eat SO MUCH DAMAGE now (thanks for the crap clothes, game!), I've largely ignored Stamina upgrades in favor of Health ones, so I've only got like 1 point into Stamina... which renders my Glider basically worthless for anything except preventing fall damage.
Anyway, I just don't like building stuff that much. It "takes too long" to build things most of the time. As a result of this mentality, I engage in a lot of "one size fits all" solutions whenever I gotta build something. Like, I've used the same two pieces to hold up every sign I've seen for that one guy, since it's basically "the same solution for everything". It's just like two planks in an L shape and nothing else. I may need to rotate it or something, but it works on all of them. At least... so far. Sure, the game tried to get "clever" with me a couple times and go, "oh, the sides of the sign are spaced differently here!" but I'm like, "I used giant wooden planks... I didn't use like a 2x4, because I didn't want to have to be precise with holding these stupid things up".
Simple is best. I mean... 1 block wide obsidian on lava with a single fan on the back... easy win for a couple of those Temples.
If it takes more than 2 minutes to build it, I'm often looking at it to see what the bare minimum required is, ha ha.
This is literally me with every single puzzle 😭😭 Sometimes I’m a genius, and other times an absolute fool
It's such a great feeling when you solve a puzzle on your own.
@@TT-df9hp Hell yeah, when I played breath of the wild I already knew a lot of the solutions. This time, I’m at the mercy of my own wits 😌
I'm either over thinking puzzles or not thinking outside the box.
Its always the simple ones im bad at but the hard ones im good at
I did this like two times getting the Royal Guards chest piece. And then I was trying to figure out how to get my horse in there, and then all five fingers went right into my face as I was moving stuff around trying to make a bridge for the horse seeing that stupid interaction color on the stupid door. I know the feels man.
Bruh this was literally me starting the game. Took all that time climbing around the damn door just to realize I could've opened it on the way back. This shit happen too many times. I blame the giggle bush
Breath Of The Wild habits die hard
yep 💀
But BOTW habits would mean he would use Magnesis to open the door, Translating that mechanic to TOTK using Ultrahand to open the door
I swear I used ultrahand on that gate and it didn't budge..
@@eightohthreefilms I almost gave up until I realized it was a pull door
@@user-ee6lk1pb6w nah, I did the exact same thing in BOTW LMAO
See now I initially used recall on the door because I thought it would rewind it so the doors would be open 😂
😂😂💀
same actually
i’m not the only one it seems.
Y’know, that’s actually pretty smart. I just stared at it for a while
Me too
I did the same thing but when I talked to the guy guarding the gate, his response and reaction seemed to fit more with me coming through the gate instead of landing in front of him, so then I was like "wait can you open this with ultrahand?" And I got my confirmation and just deep sighed and continued on.
Not the spray bottle laugh that took me all the way out!!!😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I love how I'm not the only one who just forgot about the abilities when approaching the gate... I legitimately walked around the gate leaving my horse on the other side just to accidently press the ability button and see the gate just glow up. thank god I figured that out quickly because I wouldn't have survived that walk up the castle grounds.
Anybody told the captain was at the “end of the road” and search the whole camp for 40 mins
Just me?
I’m okay with that
you are not alone trust me. I was looking for bruh too 😂
I actually didn't have a problem with that. Went to the waypoint, didn't see him inside, went around the building once, didn't see him, then thought "probably above"
My dumbass keeps forgetting ascend exists though, so instead of doing it the easy way I build elaborate structures that either get me there or help me get high enough to climb the rest, instead of just... swimming up
@@KryptoKn8 See, building wacky shit is way more fun.
@@KryptoKn8 This has been exactly me so far. My fiancé’s been watching me play and she’s constantly reminding me that Ascend exists whenever I get stuck trying to go up somewhere.
@@KryptoKn8 Yeah I competely blanked on ascend and just climbs up lamo
This the first video I’ve seen of you and I already subbed, that windex laugh got me DYING 💀
I've had so many moments like this already 😂
I did the same things in an area where its easy to just use ascend to get to the top of a platform, but I came up with the most convoluted, resource expensive and time consuming way possible to get to the top of the platform.
But did you have fun?
It does feel more satisfying when you succeed, at least.
I swear to God I didn't know ultra hand could do that! I'm like "I wish I had magnesis"
Bro ultrahand is just a better magnesis 💀
Out of the 4 runes from BOTW, Magnesis is the only one that had a straight upgrade via Ultrahand. Bombs, Stasis and Cryonis were either replaced for something similar, or just outright removed. Interesting to think about that…
@dhans9662 This was back when I first started playing and didn't understand the full potential of my runes. Now I watch playthroughs and get frustrated when people don't use ascend to kill Battle Talus and Flux Constructs
@@Degdreams Wait, you're telling me that theres people out there who dont use ascend on those 2 bosses?
@@Degdreams wait. Flux constructs fly low enough to ascend through? I’ve been using recall to ride the cubes they shoot at me back up to them.
😂😂😂 Okay, I dropped the follow, this was hilarious 😂
I'm so glad my experience with this was also widely experienced the same exact way LOL
To get to the Ascend shrine, I started making a flying machine with complex mechanics and anti gravitational technology while scaling the coldest parts of The Great Sky Island, when there was a staircase going up in the cave ☠️
There were stairs?!!! I built a huge ladder of like 7 trees 😂
THERE WERE STAIRS??????????? BRuhhhhhhhhhhhh just climed the fucking sliver of wall that wasn't iced over by the waterfall 😭
@@Fattoast001Omg I also built a tree bridge. EMBARRASSING it took me hours to get over the river because I was trying to cross it with TREES
Um stairs?? I still had issues getting to that shrine even when getting into the cave. Easy stairs!?? Like likes were everywhere
I've been stumped at a couple shrines like "I can't figure this out, how am I supposed to get up there??"
*30 minutes and one Ascend later*
Sigh ...
ive now made a habit of looking up when safe
Bruh, I even googled how to get out of the wells because I forgot about ascend.
@@PopsJoeit's crazy, I think it's a smart idea for them to patch in that your Purah pad displays a small hint if you're stuck in certain places (like wells) for too long, where it sais "Remember to use Ascend to get out of places or to different floors"
@@KryptoKn8 that just sounds like a better Fi from skyward sword tbh
I felt this when I climbed the whole castle gazebo, completely forgetting that ascend is a thing
I still haven't opened that gate!!! Hilarious 😂😂
That's the fun part about Botw and Totk. There is no "right" way of doing things XD
But there is always a dumb way, like stacking 4 springs to propel yourself at mach 3 into a cliff because you tried getting over the canyon in the top left of the map
@@KryptoKn8 dumb way? that sounds more like the fun way
This is me in any sort of fight, in botw and tears of the kingdom. I overthink stuff and end up dying or loosing a lot of stuff because of it
1:20 His laugh sounds exactly like that lmao
I climbed it as well. This game does a good job of having so many different puzzles that it’s easy to overlook the most obvious things while looking for a more complex solution. At least that has been my experience
Wow. I literally just played past those part and I used the ascend ability to get on top of the gate and jump over 😂
I was about to climb the door too lol
But then I remembered: "If in BoTW you could open the door with Magnesis, then I guess ultrahand- AYO THAT'S NUTS"
You think that's crazy, you can use ascend through talus monsters
I walked around it before I realized it could be opened lmao glad im not alone
I ain't gone lie I jumped into he water and climbed back up🤣
I've been playing this game practically nonstop and I overthink things too forgetting what my abilities do lol
This door actually got me as well, I walked away looking for a cave to get under it but then I saw someone else open it and I got so mad lol
I did the same thing, did the reverse path lol
Not only did I climb all the way over because I thought u were supposed to use ascend, I also didn’t realize the door could even open AND u can just walk right around that gate on the side😂
That was me with the Zora place after "shooting an arrow through a droplet" where you need to use ascend to get to the last blocked pipe
I think we're all still so used to the Slate Runes that we just forget about the hand abilities XD
I’m glad to see I’m not the only one who did this. When I was walking back to the gate I accidentally used ultra hand and found out I could have just opened it with the ability 😂
Lol I walked around the gate on the ledge. Didn’t think to open it like that😂😂
i love how many ways there are to do everything, i also climbed around it instead 🤣 felt really dumb when i watched my buddy use ultrahand on it
😂😂 Same, I used ascend by finding the tiniest corner where you can use it! I had to smash the A button. I knew there had to be an easier method but it worked and that guard just has to get used to players sneaking past him
Damn it! I totally climbed over the top of it
Lmaoooooooooooo 😂😂😂 the realization 😂😂😂😂😂😂 ahhhh i had a blank moment their too 😂
Another overthinking moment was when I actually tried to cook damned mushrooms from cave for that Rito engineer who couldn't open the sliding door
Oooh so you can open the door
I just went around because there is a path to the left
This feels like the opposite of overthinking 😅
really you could look at it both ways lmao
The underthinking
I did the same thing and then i remembered when i found a chest in the ground. Its still so cool to learn from scratch.
That spray bottle laugh😂🤣💀☠️
Honestly that’s something that happens a lot on this game 🤣🤣🤣🤣
We are so used to using magnesis to open the door we didn't even think to use ultrahand, I eventually just thought to use ultrahand
well to m,e ultrahand is just magnesis... that works on mostly all materials xD
@@kirisuma2186 I mean ultrahand is just a op magnesis so you're right 🤣
I literally flew up to the water temple without the plot and only realized I was doing it wrong when I unlocked everything.
I didn't even realize you could do that 🤣 I just went around the gate 😂
Lmao I broke Link’s legs doing the same thing not even an hour ago 😂 Didn’t even think to use the Ultrahand
Lol i did the same shit. Climbed over it, looked behind me and thought for a second, then opened it normally.
Ngl this reaction had me spray bottle laughing too.
There's quite a few times where I find myself falling somewhere and going "Great now I'm stuck" and then remember I have ascend. -_-
LOL IT HAPPENED TO ME TODAY I DIDNT KNOW WE COULD DO THIS
LMAO
I did this! Halfway up the gate I realized I had the hand powers 😂 I keep forgetting about the hand abilities since I’m so used to the 1st games
Same. I keep forgetting I have the ascend ability.
damn I went over that gate going and around it on the way back. I did not know it could be opened until literally now.
The laughter is contagious 😭
This was my brother lol. He told me I had to walk around. I turned on the ability and opened it up right away. This game has you rethinking every choice you make.
i was goin by the side xD
😂😭
Same
This flew over my head as well, so instead of doing this or climbing, I decided to use acsend in front of the gate to get to the top right away lol
If you lay on your stomach you should be able to ascend through it 😂
I used Ascend the first time and now I feel dumb
wow 😂
Me too
I literally just walked around on the left 😂
I'm subscribing solely b/c this is an entire mood and a half my guy
Silly
Silly
I will never forget about storming hyrule castle and swinging the doors open with magnesis before power-tripping my way to Ganon in BotW
The spray bottle laugh 😂
I did the exact same thing and on my way back realized you can walk around it 😂
TotK gameplay footage when cookies aren't the only thing getting baked at home.
Omg this was actually me when I first started and then I realized - “. . . WHY.” 😭😂
I was trying to go into hurtle castle through the back moat. This was before I realized you would just WALK around the gate 😩
Pretty much every time I need to use ascend I come up with the most confusing convoluted way of getting to the top, I constantly forget that it exists.
first time i went to the gate i was like "oh ig i have to go around it in this game?"
This was me in the road up to the wind temple. I climbed every pillar and used stamina recovery foods. Then realized I couldve just used ascend the entire time
Yeah i missed that too until i sat there trying to figure out how to get my horse through 😂😂😂
My sequence was "Oh closed gate start climbing" part way I see you could walk around it and was like "Well that was silly of me to climb" right after I realize I could have opened the door lol
The part where you talk to the captain on top of the tower I forgot I had ascend and climbed the tower outside lol. I remembered afterwards.
I took forever climbing that wall only realize I could have simply walked around it on my way back lmfao
I walked around the gate the first time around, I haven’t tried ultrahanding it lmao
well, you are not alone, I climb the gate too LOL
The squirt bottle thing got me good.
This makes me feel better about going around the outside of the gate.
Not gonna lie, I too went around it and never thought anything of it. But that fucking spray bottle laugh is what killed me. 😂
exactly the same thing that I did. I thought you couldn’t open it until right this second.
Yeah, I definitely went around the gate too because I didn't think 😂
Glad to see that I'm not the only person, that climbed the gate. 😂
I clicked thinking he was also just going to walk around the gate lmfao. When I was walking back down I thought 'hmm maybe I can just open it with that hand shit'
Froggy suit enthusiasts: “I have no such weaknesses.”
Yup had this moment happen to me I went around then the realization hit me.
